GCSD Seeks Director of Technology

Word is that upon returning from vacation, Greece Central School District's Director of Technology gave his notice and was immediately walked out.

"was immediately walked out" or "immediately walked out"? Two very different meanings and....hearsay at this point. Why do some people feel it necessary to stir the pot of negativity with word choices? I understand that your defense will be, "I'm just reporting it as I heard it". Well, you carry a burden of responsibility in not perpetuating baseless rumors. Stating that he tendered his resignation is perfectly fine. Let the rest of the story come out before dangling bait in front of the pirhana tank.

To 1:03PM ~~ Why would someone give notice, then immediately walk out? That makes NO sense at all, because people who quit, don't give notice ;)

I love the way people like you attempt to cast doubt by questioning how I word things. I'm VERY careful to say what I mean and mean exactly what I say. This was no different. He was IMMEDIATELY WALKED OUT.

He did give his notice the day hereturned from vacation. However, he had told everyone before he left on vacation that he would be doing this. He was "immediately walked out" because he was director of technology and in being such he had access to all passwords and security for the entire district. In an effort to maintain a secure technology environment it was the approporiate thing to do. Tom even agreed with that, he was not at all surprised by it. There was a party for him last week at the Brook House at which all the cabinet and superintendent attended and many district employees and a good time was had by all. GCSD is not seeking a new director of tech, they will be working with personnel that we have.

To 1:24PM ~~ Why is it appropriate to walk out an employee as soon as they give notice even though they announced their decision to do so prior to taking a vacation? That mentality assumes the employee won't do something unprofessional while taking their vacation and planning their next life chapter, but will while "on notice" about leaving. Strange logic.

DANG, just dang.

Fact they won't be replacing that fellow don't help my boy LeRoy's job hunting one dang bit.

Here LeRoy is about to graduate GCSD in June at the tender age of 26, looking at alternatives to his dream job of School Janitor cause they ain't hiring in that area, and now that Babs woman went and eliminated the computer chair duster job too.

Could it be GCSD still has too many paycheck collectors?

To the person regarding "conspiracy theories" ~~ I refuse to post your response since it's entirely based upon the two different wordings you "suggested". By starting your rebuttal with "I am not attempting to cast doubt" and then spewing on about how the two phrases mean different things ... yet again ... shows you are indeed trying to cast doubt. You ask why we don't "wait for the story to come out" ... it IS out!

Well, they'll save $102K plus benefits (which is actually low for a position like this). But with the tech so outdated and in disarray I wonder how not having someone at the senior management/VP level is going to work. Who will advocate?

YOUR version is out. Oh, I forgot...you are the end all and be all of the information highway. Mea culpa.

I love how you interpret a strong opposing opinion to your own as "casting doubt" -- ummm...isn't that the point of intellectual, non-emotional debate?

To 8:55AM ~~ It must be Karma, because your comments keep landing in the SPAm folder lol

You need to make up your mind. In an earlier comment, you said you weren't trying to cast doubt. Now you are trying to defend the fact that you are casting doubt!!

The content of the BLOG post did not originate with me. The debate part is expected to be about HOW GCSD conducts business.
