Man Shot 3 Times At Greece Hotel

The D&C reports: A man was shot inside a Greece hotel tonight, police said.

According to Greece Police Capt. Steve Chatterton, the man was shot two or three times in the leg and lower extremities about 8 p.m. at the Extended Stay America hotel, 600 Center Place Road, off Buckman Road.

Chatterton said the man is from the Rochester area and was not a hotel guest. He did not identify the victim.

While police aren’t sure of the motive, they do believe the victim was targeted, he said.

A female companion was with the victim at the time of the shooting, Chatterton said, and she fled the scene. Greece police are asking this witness to come forward and help the investigation.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment; his medical condition was not immediately known.

No suspect has been taken into custody; police continue to investigate.

SCATS ~~ Do police tell us that the victim was "targeted" to try to give us a false sense of security about living in an increasingly crime-ridden town?

Of course, it could simply be that the victim WAS targeted.

Not everything is part of some big conspiracy or cover-up.

To 12:03AM ~~ In Greece, they ALWAYS ARE "targeted" ... and the good shots usually hit the intended "target" ;)

There is no restaurant or shop at this place. It is only for residents and their guests. So this victim and his "companion" must have been visitors? Was the shooter the resident? Were they all visiting some resident? Was the female companion the resident? Did the shooting happen in a room there or a hall or the parking lot? Not saying there was conspiracy but the police do keep away from specifics.

I am not sure this a difference that makes a difference. When there are shootings in the city even if they are not random it still contributes to the sense of insecurity. Why not in the suburbs too?

Well.....either the Tub & Tan moved the the hotel or it was some idiot cheating on her husband.

To 8:55AM ~~ One news story I read said the victim was found near the desk, so that's in a "public" area of the facility.

To 9:59AM ~~ AGREED!

He probably was looking for someone to help him when the shooter left and the girlfriend fled.

I think the police tell us what they think is true and feel we should know. KISS

Latest news says man was shot in the parking lot and then entered the lobby.

And I do think there is a real difference if it is a random act vs a targeted crime.

To 11:43AM ~~ The cops tell us the minimal amount, if that. There's seldom any follow-up.

I'll bet the people who live in the apt. complex next to that hotel don't feel any safer today after hearing it was "targeted." When strangers come around with loaded guns it's a reason to feel insecure!!

Apparently, the shooter wasn't such a good aim either. Three shots and the victim is already out of the hospital.

the idiot might have been the man cheating on his wife, not the girl, you showed a little bias there:)

To 12:16PM ~~ I don't think it has anything to do with a husband/wife affair. The "victim" is just 19 and is no longer cooperating with police.

News says he was shot behind hotel after being held-up in the parking lot. So if he wasn't a hotel guest, how the hell did he get inside the rear door without a key? THAT should be cause for concern for the masses.

OK, I'm stunned. I just read this on the WHAM News link:
Jones has stopped cooperating with the Police Department and they believe he was targeted. Jones was given contact information so if he chooses to cooperate, the police say they will re-open and fully investigate the incident.

So the cops aren't continuing to investigate after he stopped cooperating. WHY IS THAT???? No crime unless the victim cooperates??? No threat to anyone in the future by this shooter?????No chance the victim was engaged in criminal activity????

@1:41 - no silly. Once you've already talked to everyone and now the only person with information that will help solve the crime STOPS TALKING TO YOU, it's kinda hard to get the guy's info.

See? Or do you need me to type s-l-o-w-e-r?

SCATS said...

To 4:29PM ~~ Going on your assertion, there would never be an investigation following a murder, simply because the victim wasn't talking ;)

As far as I'm aware, discharging a firearm in the hotel parking lot is against the law. So, shooting a person is against the law, regardless of whether they want to cooperate or not. There might be other witnesses and the hotel has video cameras, etc. Shutting down the investigation sounds like the police have given up. Maybe we could hang a banner from the pedestrian walkway on 104 that says: "Greece welcomes all thugs. If you don't cooperate, we won't investigate."

Or, perhaps they checked all available video cameras and canvassed the neighborhood and have no other information to move forward with.
The victim not cooperating could make things impossible, if he is the only one with the info.

Either that or the police just don't feel like investigating, I'm sure that is more likely.

He was a good aim. He wanted the guy hurt not dead so he could still collect that which he was after. Geeze Louisee.

To 10:36AM ~~ How would YOU know that?

Anonymous said...

Same way YOU think YOU know everything, Scats. Make it up as you go along. LOL

To 4:48PM ~~ You give me way too much credit. This is Greece where truth is MUCH stranger than fiction. You just CAN'T make this crapple up ;)
