Let's Call It What It Is ... It's A Gang

Greece Post Headline of Note:
Greece Police Dept. Crack down on criminal activity (pg. 1)

The article describes how a recent GPD investigation led to the arrest of a group of mostly juveniles who committed a series of car larcenies & home break-ins in the Dewey/Stone area dating back to summertime.

Lt. Jason Helfer ~~ "The stuff that we attributed to them, we're not seeing any more. Calls for fights that involved this group of people to crimes that fit their MO has dropped off immensely ... the department took the criminal activity very seriously, and wanted to curb it as swiftly as possible, as the group was trying to establish a criminal enterprise."

SCATS ~~ I Say "Gang" ... Greece Police Say "A Criminal Enterprise"... Why are we sugar-coating this problem when the issue has already become an ongoing problem inside Greece's high schools?

are gangs a serious problem in schools why isn't this reported?

Maybe Meaghan is too busy kissing butt to report on serious issues

Several gangs operate in Greece schools. Scats, did you know the FBI defines a criminal enterprise as a
'group of individuals with an identified hierarchy, or comparable structure, engaged in significant criminal activity. These organizations often engage in multiple criminal activities and have extensive supporting networks"

Calling Rogie Rabbit & the School Board ain't going to pass the PC test.

GPD knew there was a burglary crew working the Bennington area for years, and GPD still hasn't done squat about it. Reports have been getting buried since before Rahn left, and they are still being buried.

Who's kid is driving the van that drops the girls pretending to be hired house cleaners work out of?

what are schools doing to address this anything at all?

To 6:13AM ~~ You mean aside from sweeping it under the carpet so the community doesn't get scared? Well, they've hired School Resource Officers. They are off-duty cops that we pay OVERTIME PAY TO so they will come spend a few hours a week in the high schools & Apollo (I think).

I'm told that the taxpayers of Greece are getting the royal ripoff because school administration stopped trying to get rid of the HUNDREDS of students who are attending GCSD schools but who don't live in the district. No big deal at
$17K/student, or whatever it works out to be, right?

Yes, it is a group of kids who want to be a gang, No, it isn't like a city GANG. These are wanna-be's and they should be put i a police cruiser and taken to the city where "real" gangs operate and shown what those are like! These punks haven't got a clue and wouldn''t last 5 minutes with areal gang.

To 8:22PM ~~ You know this how???

Helfer's words about establishing "a criminal enterprise" are cop-speak for gang.
Wannabes weren't mentioned by him.

If it walks like a duck, it's a duck.

If it's a group of kids, wearing colors, organizing criminal activity within established territories, it's a gang.

We talked to the chief who has experience in the city with Gangs. His attitude is that the gangs in Greece are wannabe's. I think he ought to let them be gangs and see what they are not. Put them in a cruiser and take them into town and show them what a real gang is and try a little "scared straight" mentality

To 10:21PM ~~ Oh please!! "We?" LMAO

You talked to the chief? Who told you this group was a bunch of wannabes? But somehow he forgot to tell Helfer? LOL!! Sounds like Baxter took a long drink out of Auberger's Kool-aid kiddie cup.

Why don't you look-up the meaning of "a criminal enterprise" the way someone did who posted on here earlier.

I know some of the school resource cops. They told me a couple of different gangs are active in the high schools and its a serious problem. School employees feel helpless to do much so they let it go. Yes, its a city problem but its spread here now that lots of city kids go to Greece schools. Watch all the cars line up at the border to the city on a weekday morning when they drop their kids to ride to Olympia. It gets worse every year.

I've got news for you. Olympia is not the worse high school. Athena has more unreported crap going on then all the schools combined. They just don't want everyone to know it, so thay dump on Olympia.

I remember not so long ago when former mayor Bill Johnson denied that gangs existed. And take a good look at Hudson, Portland and all those other areas that are infiltrated with GANGS.

To 4:15PM ~~ I recall that too. Of course, he was in denial because then City Police Chief Duffy told it like it was. Now Greece has active gangs openly operating in the high schools. Let's remember what shutdown the carnival at the mall forever: GANG ACTIVITY!
