10 Reasons To Vote "NO" On EXCEL II

  • Holding a second vote this year wastes money.
  • Waiting until December when seniors are away is a scam that reflects poorly on GCSD's motives for doing so.
  • They haven't figured out which schools to close yet!
  • They don't know exactly how they will use our money, because if they close a school, they'll reallocate its repair funds elsewhere without needing our approval.
  • Capital repairs should be part of the annual budget !
  • Financing door hardware & other small items over time makes no sense fiscally!!
  • Our BOE is not worthy of our trust, and has proved that once again.
  • GCSD's dishonesty over what this funds, since some sports related improvements are included.
  • It makes no sense to build new structures (like dugouts) when we haven't been financing repairs to existing structures!
  • Once they get our approval, they can spend it on anything they want ~ even turfed fields!

Your 4th reason is especially valid. If they close a school or schools they should be forced to subtract the amount of money that was earmarked for the "necessary" repairs and frivolous whims (dugouts) for that school.
And we should not trust them. They haven't been worthy of our trust in these projects for at least 12 years. Why do we put up with these games?

By the way, did you see on the news that Longridge is celebrating academics, i.e. students who passed the NYS ELA and Math tests, and kids who come to school every day? Just thought you might want to put some good news on your blog...

Number one reason to vote YES-because you are telling us to vote No.

To 8:35AM ~~ You should listen to what you are saying so you can hear how absolutely PATHETIC that sounds!

You know we've hit rock bottom when we have to CELEBRATE because the students bothered to show up for school!!

Because they actually learned SOMETHING while there, they deserve extra kudos for staying awake during math!

Wow!! They must be HARVARD material!!! Let's celebrate!!!

When you read a posting like 10;05 that has no content other than a personal attack on the person running this blog it is truly sad.

To that person was there something in the posting that is not true, please enlighten us.

That is IF you are capable.

No good news is allowed on this blog.

To 1:16PM ~~ People like 10:05AM know their position is indefensible. Since they can't show that what I've written is inaccurate, they go for the personal attack in a silly looking attempt to try to take wind from the sails of this BLOGGER. A former boss of mine called these sorts of people "mentally bankrupt" ... and it fits: Nothing to add & incapable of proving the person they attack as wrong.

To 1:19PM ~~ When we give out "awards" for showing up to school, we've again LOWERED OUR EXPECTATIONS!!

I do agree it would be good news if we could get Greece teachers to show up to school. Not only would they be setting good examples as the role models they are supposed to be, but more kids might "pass" their state exams since everyone knows little learning happens when a sub is in charge ;)

I agree with SCATS! Listen 10:36, SCATS doesn't want to hear anything positive at all about education in Greece, EVER! After all, if you read enough of SCATS posts it will become clear one of his stated goals is to reduce taxes. What is one way to reduce taxes? Why, it's to reduce property values. What is one way to reduce property values? To spew nothing but negativity about schools in that district to influence public perception. So, 10:36, you're views are not welcome here, because they will just be distorted to meet a predetermined agenda.

This is nothing...Wait until EXCEL III that we will have to fund. We will have to pay out for settling lawsuits and attorney's fees. GCSD doesn't have any insurance for some of the latest claims!!! I have seen the proof.

My family will be voting YES. I have no problem with them adding dugouts. For a town this size our sports facilities are a joke. Why no lights at our fields. Oh wait 10 neighbors don't want the noise. Really how sad that a football or soccer game is so disruptive to your life. I don't see how everything is a conspiracy or lies. Sounds like sour grapes! Also are teachers not allowed days off or sick time???? It time parents took an interest in their child's education teachers are only one part.

I vowed to no longer support requests to spend any more money until this school distriict showed they were accountable. They've utterly failed to do so. So my vote next week will be no just like my vote next spring will be no. I know they will get their way any ways, but I feel a sense of satisfaction for getting to cast my vote of no confidence.

To 3:46PM ~~ THANK YOU! Perfect example of MENTAL BANKRUPTCY if I ever saw one :)

To 5:26PM ~~ Could you elaborate please? We lack insurance for what sort of claims? Construction related?

To 5:28PM ~~ Good for you. For some of us, we believe it's MORE IMPORTANT to be able to do basic math than to strike out in a ball game. For a town this size, our graduation rates are a complete disgrace!

But then we're aware that the masses of GCSD graduates couldn't get into college without that ever important sports scholarship ;)

PS ~~ Teach your kid to pee before game time so he doesn't end up kneeling on the sidelines while TV cameras record him taking a whiz as someone hides his junk with a towel ;)

To 5:54PM ~~ You sound like you see things similarly to my family. Don't give up! Someday, GCSD just might get its act together. But I won't hold my breath while waiting.

Civil Rights claims. They have no insurance for some.

SCATS said...

To 6:42PM ~~ Is that because the insurance won't cover it, or because they failed to get coverage for the district's needs from the gitgo?

SCATS said...

To 3:46PM ~~ Good news! You can't blame SCATS. The politicians (i.e. people "in charge") already did the deed!

I heard on the news tonight (http://www.forbes.com/pictures/mkl45emhe/rochester-n-y)
that Rochester is now among the top 10 "Worst Cities For Finding A Job" which follows on the heels of being one of the best cities for buying a house a few months ago (due to low prices). Home prices are low, because area wages & employment are both very low. But taxes are sky high, among the country's highest!

That seems like a GREAT combination for attracting families to the area:
High unemployment + Low wages + Falling home prices + High taxes = Dead local economy

Adding failing schools to the mix, like Greece's, just adds insult to injury. So go ahead and blame the BLOG, but we both know I'm not quite that powerful ... yet.

Capital repairs should be part of the annual budget......

You would vote it down then to!

SCATS said...

To 6:41PM ~~ I love a mind-reader. Please tell everyone where I ate dinner today lol :D

This district needs to get honest about what it really needs vs what everyone wants. We can't afford to be all things to all people any longer. Formulating a budget based on ACADEMIC PRIORITIES would go a very long ways towards getting my stamp of approval. I'm not holding my breath.

I love how Scats uses the word "honest" in your last comment.

"Hello kettle this is pot"

SCATS said...

To 11:18AM ~~ Excuse me. I put out lots of so-called "facts" provided by our Town & school district (they do not tell the truth, the whole truth & nothing but the truth despite the oaths they swore to when taking office), often via other media. I also attend meetings, listen to some on radio/tv, etc. to gather info and quotes on my own. I'm very careful about these things.

The axe you grind is that you don't agree with my viewpoint/conclusions/opinions
formulated based on those things. It has nothing to do with SCATS being "dishonest", so get over it :)
