The Walts Legacy Lingers ... and Replicates

First, I would like to thank you for your blog, what a great resource for your school district!

I am a PWC VA parent and a little late to the party in terms of researching Dr. Walts.

I am having other areas of concern within our district and have gone back to do my homework and start at the beginning.

  • I was wondering if anyone has figured out the total cost to GCSD of doing business with Dr. Walts et al? (after adding up the lifetime health insurance, costs of age discrimination suits, legal fees for forensic audits etc., travel expenses, cell phone bills, $25k vacation days, inflated CIP construction costs)?
  • Were they ever able to determine if Dr. Walts or any member of the administration personally profited from the CIP overages? (if you were charged $10,000 for a $150 water fountain - where did the extra $9850 go?)
  • Did Exxon Mobile bring Math Investigations to your district?
  • Do you know if anyone personally profited from the adoption of the Math Investigations program?
I appreciate any insight you are able to provide.   11/20/2011 3:01 PM

SCATS ~~ The total cost is likely known only by a few BOE members.

Tough to state a cost as the legacy continues. Our kids pay for Dr Walts program in their degraded educational experience, and we taxpayers continue to find costs that are the result of his so-called leadership.

The district person in charge of the math investigations program is now the principal at Arcadia Middle school in Greece.

Perhaps Phelan and the BLOB could chime in on the subject. As I recall they basically gave the Theven an open checkbook to do whatever he wanted. Yes, I did write Theven.

Our leadership in Greece is now provided by the Chamber of Commerece and schools of choice parents.

The PW teachers attend these academies to become brainwashed into the fuzzy math. Exxon sponsors these academies.

Do we have this in Greece?

The one person, the Greece business manager, at the Walts time, who would have most of these financial answers concerning the CIP and other Greece Central financial questions during the time of Walts, is now dead. The manager had to carry out the directions of Walts and then he died in a car accident in a little community, Cheshier sp, south of Canandaigua.

I can't think of the business manager's name but the accident was in March and his car slid off the road. He was killed and so were the secrets of Greece Central.

Jerry Phelan was quoted as saying the secrets of Greece Central just went to the grave.

Sincerely

Doug Skeet

Bill may have passed away, but Business Manager Mike Henry is still alive...and so is Bob (though both quietly retired).

Mike Henry took over the management of the CIP when Bill left the district (in mid-project, btw). Bob continued it after Mike retired.

Mike was at all of the same meetings with Bill and has the same knowledge (because Bill used his expertise a LOT).

Saying the "secrets died along with Bill" is simply untrue.

Is that a bead of sweat I see forming on your forehead, Mr. Phelan?

Budget year 04/05. Weeks after a contract entention to Christa contruction managment (millions, Walts left and took his friend...Kieth Johnson with him. They both sold their homes within days of being on the market (a sinking housing market) Walts home sold for over $250,000 and Johnson's for over $150,000. Cash.
Who bought them, how long were they owned before beining sold again? Who owns them now? Look it up in public records and you may find the money trail.
