Now we can "feel good" about our Christmas trees since there is a tax on each tree to support the government office to promote those trees.
Maybe Scats is right and we are sheeple.
How is this possible? How many other tax supported programs are like this? Wonder what the Occupy Rochester people would think about this waste of money.

Further and appropriate commentary on this program to support the self esteem of Christmas tree purchases. And don't get started on the slow economy for the tree growers. We all have a slow economy.

Dave was a great movie. Puts it all in perspective. We need to spend the money and be concerned about those in abject poverty and stop holding the hands of whiny people who want to have a camp-out in our park illegally.
And people need JOBS!
The Occupy Wall St people have a point but the satellite in Rochester taking over a park in the shadow of a community theater and a church hardly needs to have a place in the park overnight. You guys go to NY and occupy that park. Good luck trying to find a rest room though.

To 6:14 & 6:24AM ~~ OMG! A Christmas Tree Tax!?!? I missed hearing about that completely. Thanks for the heads up. It fits nicely with my suggestions I'm passing along for an alternative to the Chinese Christmas crapple Americans buy to put under their imported artificial trees.

No mention of tonight's Northgate Neighbors Meeting at 7?

To 11:30AM ~~ Oops! Sorry. Forgot all about it.

Congratulations to Brett Granville who won a position in the cast of the John Auberger puppet show. The prime requisite for this position is giving up your integrity to take complete direction from the puppet master.

Be advised that in your own neighborhood, ElMar and Picturesque Drives, a new neighborhood organization is coming together to address action on your part to deal with our growing neighborhoo0d problems and concerns.

You can expect numerous calls from us after you take your oath of office. We will expect action on our behalf at future board meetings in the form of a motion to discuss our concerns publicly. Do you have the guts to stand up to the puppet master or will you allow your "strings" to be manipulated? Time will tell.

at least the rest of the county is not as (hmmm, whats the word) as the voters in Greece and said no to Nitti!

To 3:34PM ~~ Don't hold your breath ... just your nose ;)

To 4:13PM ~~ Let's see ... Gullible? Self-loathing? Blind? Stupid? Am I close??

So, if 60% of the voting public agrees with you, they have made the right choice.

If 60% of the voting public disagrees with you then they are "Gullible? Self-loathing? Blind? Stupid?"

Perhaps they just disagree with your point of view?
Republican candidates in Greece trounced their Democrat rivals.
Maybe it's time figure out a way to work with your elected officials instead of degrading them.

To 5:38PM ~~ You're funny! Watch them. Listen carefully. They degrade themselves ;)

5:38 That would be a good idea if we ever found out where they are when they talk about all the issues they vote on without discussion at the board meetings. Never a debate. Never a question. Never a heads up from the town ward leaders to see what the feeling of the community is on issues BEFORE they vote. Instead they send us the glossy synopsis afterward with some pictures of ribbon-cutting.
True, the items they vote on are not of earth-shattering importance, but this is America and we are supposed to have open government. Just because the meeting is open does not mean they are deliberating in an open legal manner. Until something happens that impacts the community, they will be allowed to have their little star chamber where they can be important. Obviously the crime and danger of DUI/unlicensed and uninsured drivers in greece and the sorry state of the abandoned or toxic properties in greece and the condition of the northgate plaza until we gave in to widewaters was not enough to activate the rest of greece.

To 5:38 ----- Yes, no question the Republicans won by a wide margin. But I think you are wrong to say the lesson is that Democrats should "figure out a way to work with your elected officials rather than degrading them." During an election campaign, both side put their best case before the voters and challengers should fight to give voters a real choice, not simply bestow re-election upon the incumbents. If you lived in the district where Fred Ancello hammered incumbent Dick Beebe for all kinds of stuff, you'd agree that both sides were vigorous their, uh, challenge to the incumbents. And I'm all for it, let the voters see some real campaigns. We the voters can sort it all out. The time for "working together" is now, after the election has been decided. In 2013 they will step into the ring and put the gloves on again. If the Republicans don't get any better about acting like a bunch of robots, I hope the Democrats clobber them but good in 2013. We'll see.

So why is it that Dems lost the Dick Beebe seat in the legislator? Any thoughts?

Why is it they can't seem to hold onto a seat?

Anonymous said...

2013?? You're not gonna vote NEXT year??

Anonymous said...

to 10:49 --- Ancello hammered Beebe over and over as a tax raiser. According to the small print it went back to when Bebee was a village trustee in Homer, N.Y. in the nineties. It didn't hold any water with me but I guess a lot of people went for it. I don't know if its that the Dems can't hang onto a seat but more like the Republicans were willing to do anything to grab it back.

to 12:12 -- yes I'm voting next year. I was referring to 2013 when the Town Board will run for election again. But I bet you already knew thats what I meant.

The democrat party in Greece needs to figure out how to get better candidates. The wife of the Democrat party boss? Really? That's the best you guys can do? No wonder you lost.

Beebe was a terrible legislator who frankly lost because he did nothing but whine and complain. I never saw him do anything unless it was an election year.

BTW, his record in Homer was horrible. The not-so-talked about scandal he was involved with there didn't even come out so don't say the republicans "did anything to win."

Dick Beebe still has a shred of dignity thanks to the other side's restraint.

There was a town meting last night and none of the Democrat political party bosses, candidates and hacks were there.

Why not? Is it because the elections are over and you are going back again to not giving a crud?

Sure looks like it.

See you in two I guess.

To 7:32PM ~~ Even I, someone who tries to keep up on such things, didn't know the budget "hearing" was being held last night. I saw no recent publicity for it. When I looked on the Town's own website, the info was essentially buried. Unlike the notice for the agenda setting meeting, also held yesterday, there was NO headline on the front of the site announcing the hearing. Obviously, they didn't want anyone there ;)

Maggie's hubby has to resign from his nepotism related job at the water authority. WIll Auberger be next in line, Inquiring minds want to know

to 7:21, I suppose if the Democrats had been there you would complain that they never stop complaining even though the voters are against them. They are literally in a no win situation. Don't get elected and don't get a break for standing up to try. And give me a break with that remark about their candidates. Did you see Rita's resume, she is more than just some guy's wife. Wendy too, professor of public administration. I guess the voters don't care about qualifications, or what hacks the other side had. Be honest, Greece is prejudiced against anybody with a D after their name. If these ladies were Republicans we'd be toasting their victories.

There was a Northgate Neighbors meeting the same night as the budget meeting.

The greece democrat leaders run that group so they had to be there instead of attending public meetings.
