Getting Serious About Improving GCSD's Performance

To pull up test scores & improve graduation rates, students must BE IN CLASS! To accomplish this we must:

REDUCE TRUANCY ~ Get them into school!
IMPROVE ATTENDANCE ~ Student AND teacher!
LENGTHEN TIME IN CLASS ~ Longer day/longer year

WHY IS GREECE CENTRAL's SCHOOL DAY & YEAR SO SHORT?

WE'RE LAST TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL!

HOW DID WE GET TO THIS?

UNION POWER!

When kids pay Union Dues New York Teachers UNION will care about kids education!

Gee, who said that in the 1970s?

To 1:50PM ~~ Before O'Rourke left he cited some astronomical increases in student absences, especially unexcused ones. He gave a percentage increase (I seem to recall on the order of more than350%, but admit I can't find my notes on that at the moment), not the actual number. As for teachers, good luck finding any data on that! As I recall, Charlie Hubbard had a very tough time gathering those figures when he was on the BOE. I believe it's safe to assume things haven't improved since then, especially given the lack of incentives & the lack of a new contract. If GTA wishes to speak up on this, I'd love to hear some verifiable data. I won't hold my breath though ;)
