Wandering Fire Trucks & Police Vehicles

At What Cost?

This Craigslist ad claims a North Greece Fire Dept. truck was among the many seen in the Thousand Islands last week.

This story from WHEC-TV states that Greece PD is sending two motorcycle riding officers to participate in an annual 9/11 Memorial Ride.

During a recent hotel stay at the Hampton Inn, I personally witnessed the firetruck from the GRFD station on Stoneridge Dr. "patrol" their nearby neighborhood, wandering street by street on several different days ... with no particular reason apparent to the viewer.

What the heck are our cops and firefighters doing with these roaming vehicles? How much is this costing us? With gasoline prices at current levels, the economy in poor shape and taxes constantly climbing, how can this wandering be justified?

And what exactly were you doing at the Hampton Inn?

Is there anybody looking out for the people who are funding things? It sure doesn't seem like it. No wonder our economy is in such a mess. Some self-restraint would go a long ways.

I ,too, have seen trucks driving up and down North Greece ROad and English Rd. I assumed they were
1. training a driver
2. going for fuel
3. returning from a fire.

Not sure why they would be as fdar from home as you saw!

Another cost question:

How much do we spend to rent the educational facility at the Mall? Would it be a better use of taxpayer money to use a building we already own, and do not use, like Barnard, for this purpose?

To 10:19AM ~~ Initially, GCSD was given the mall space free of cost to operate Continuing Education services (since it was empty anyway) with the understanding they may have to move to a different location within the mall if a paying retailer came along to rent what they were using. That agreement was made years ago. I've heard nothing discussed since then and I'm assuming the Bridges program got the same perks. I'm sure that if someone knows differently, they will rush to prove me wrong ;)

Look those UNION Firepersons are collecting good pay to ride around enjoying the territory.

They can't spend their entire shift in the multimillion dollar firehouse working out on the best equipment taxpayers can buy or they would go as nutty as Union teachers have.

Who knows the ride might acquaint the firefighter with the neighborhood.

To 1:49PM ~~ The workout equipment appears to be seldom used!! There is no gym odor in their gym, the equipment shows no signs of wear & half of the firemen have a belly impeding their view of their willy.

What;s that?? We have to USE the equipment to make it effective? I thought we would all get trim if we just bought it and moved it in.....Using it isn't in the contract!

Bridges has moved to Arcadia High School, that should be interesting for those poor Arcadia students. It is rather humorous that kids that were kicked out of Arcadia are allowed back in to the same school. They lost their priveledge of going to a school so who was the braniac behind moving the program back to a school. I am calling trouble before it even starts, watch the increased number of police calls to Arcadia this year.

To 7:14PM ~~ When did that program move? Over the summer?

Interesting that Arcadia parents aren't screaming bloody murder that they lack space to take them in. It's what Odyssey parents would do ;)

You guys wouldnt last a night trick in a busy company. Guess the gold standard is makin the turn at the top of the stairs not counting on you heeerooos to get that one done. Heck most of you cant get the front of your turnout coats closed. Just sayin you guys are overpaid and under worked. Go have another parade and an awards banquet for that Britton Road job. Sickening

To 10:55PM ~~ GOOD GIG ON THE TAXPAYER DIME ;)

How could the 1000 Islands have better training facilities than the area around here? It's 30+ miles into Watertown!
