Oberg's Last Stand?

The Last Regular Board of Education
Meeting of His Term?

Or Will He Remain MIA Like He Was
At Last Week's School Choice Hearing?

His not attending last week was weak.

To 10:58PM ~~ Some are wondering if he has quit early ... without announcing. Guess we'll find out tomorrow night.

I'm not a supporter of frank usually, but I understand him not attending whine fest 2011. That scene was exactly what everyone knew it would be and nothing new came of it. SOC is a waste of money, and spending hours listening to it's supporters take turns sobbing into a microphone saying the same things over and over again is a waste of time. I would have been more impressed with the whole boe if they would have been no shows.

Why would the man want to come and listen to the same senseless dribble from people who think it's acceptable to get a private school education in a public school district. Everyone at that hearing knew what as going to be said before it was said. We all know Odyssey families are the best in town, with the smartest kids and he most wonderful parents. You didn't need to attend to know that what was going to be said.

To 7:11 & 7:26AM ~~ As BOE Pres. Oberg could have had a lot of control over WHERE & HOW 'whine fest 2011' took place. He chose to give up control to some guy I never heard of before who gave "atta boys" inappropriately to half of the people who spoke. It wasn't a "hearing" in any sense of the word, especially not in any legal sense. It was conducted more like an Open Mic Night in a sports bar. BOOYAH!!

You point out that the "show" was a chance for the lucky few to parade to the microphone and sob about their lives if SC is changed. You point out how SC is a waste of money and resources that could be used to improve EVERYONE'S education. Yet, how much would you bet that tonight the BOE will decide that the issue needs to be tabled until the new Supt. has a chance to make a recommendation and that changing now would be to burden her with the conversion that wasn't her idea anyway. Any old reason NOT to make the change we want and spend money better elsewhere.

To 11:42AM ~~ I don't disagree that your speculation may very well become the reality. If I'm not mistaken, we hired Achramovitch in Nov. of 2005 and in early 2006, he was told to begin studying the feasibility of returning to K-5 schools, dealing with choice, etc. It's more than 5 yrs. later and at the hearing, people are begging for more study.

DYSFUNCTIONAL PEOPLE FEAR CHANGE because CHANGE BRINGS A LOSS OF CONTROL.

Few think the board will do anything meaningful tonight based on your poll, SCATS. Looks like the dysfunction will continue for Deane-Williams to handle.

Oberg will show tonight to collect his plaque and their pats on his back. The whole meeting will be done by 8 o'clock despite the seriousness of what's facing them.
