Put A Fork In It, Frank!

"I'm disappointed at the turnout, but pleased that people felt it was a reasonable budget ... But I think we worked hard to put a reasonable budget forward this year under very difficult circumstances and I'm very happy that it passed."~~ Frank Oberg, president of the Greece Central School District Board of Education.

"It was a very tough budget because it had built-in cost increases that drove the budget upward and reductions in state aid that made it very difficult to put together. I think there is a balanced educational program with this budget." ~~ Frank Oberg, president of the GCSD BOE

SCATS ~~ What a pompous ass! He really believes people felt it was "a reasonable budget"? They stayed home by the droves because last year Frankie showed 'em he could make 'em eat a 5% tax hike without a revote after 2 out of 3 voters screamed a resounding "NO!" Oberg wouldn't recognize "a balanced educational program" if one slapped him in the face! He's been a huge disappoint to anyone who voted him into office. On your way out of the district, don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya, Mr. Chump Change.

None of these boe people care what the public thinks. Even if you get someone on there with the right attitude going in, they sell their soul to the devil in exchange for that closed 'n clubby feeling they get by being part of the "Applebee's for drinks" group after the next meeting. Self-serving sellouts.

Fortunately SCATS doesn't permit personal attacks on this site. But Oberg has done such an incredibly bad job in representing the many people that once supported him that he deserves to be flogged publicly as often and loudly as possible.
Unfortunately there is a zero chance that the next BOE president will be much better. The Kool-Aid served in the GCSD eventually destroys even the most promising of board members. And that is a nearly extinct species anyway.

SCATS, come on..."pompous ass" ?

Name calling anyone? Too funny...

I don't think the public cares what 9:43 or Scats think. The results are proof. Scats can boast numbers on a web sight but has yet to get them to the polls.

You are forgeting they are very smart.

To 10:52AM ~~ Oberg has done a total 180 degrees in his years on the BOE. I can't wait for him to go, but I concur that the next BOE Prez. is probably going to be even worse. I'm prepared to hold my nose for at least 3 years.

To 10:57AM ~~ It ain't name-calling when it's 100% true ;)

To 11AM ~~ REALLY?? I think last year's RESOUNDING BUDGET DEFEAT speaks against your contention in a very BIG way ;) But you can continue believing in your fairy tale.

Tp 11:07AM ~~ They evolve to start thinking they are smarter than everyone who put them there. Thus "pompous ass" seems to fit.

Seriously, what did you expect him to say? If the budget passed, he had to say what he said. If it failed, the statement would have been something like "We are disappointed but respect the voice of the voters." Both are boilerplate responses.

To 1:41PM ~~ What I expected was a dose of truth! Something on the order of: "If we threw $500,000,000 at the Greece School District, we'd still have the same problems we've got now." Translated it means: "The real problem in Greece is with the people who are running things." He can't say it, because HE IS PART OF THE PROBLEM ;)

The only problem with Frankie going is we will get some other liar with thier on agenda in his place. After all Greece the most corrupt town around.

Sorry Frank, reasonable would be to eliminate some folks at the top, not classes or programs. I would be embarassed to defend this plan as reasonable. That whole thing about cutting school days shorter was insane at elementary but not at high school? Huh, I am still puzzled but THAT one.
