Odd Tidbits From BOE Meeting Minutes

While browsing through recent BOE meeting minutes, the following items caught my attention for being unusual and/or interesting:

  • Administrative Resignation ~ Steven Achramovitch (Admin. Substitute) ~ Effective 2/10/11 ~ "Work Inactivity in District Office" (3/08/11 meeting) What the heck does this mean? Why is he an Admin. Sub. more than 7 months after leaving Greece? Oddly, I was asked yesterday why Hamburg would need a "waiver for employment of a retiree" under  §211 of the retirement and social security law for him.
  • Administrative Retirement ~ Donald Nadolinski ~ Effective 9/17/11 (3/08/11 meeting) All other retirements listed are effective 6/30/11, except for his. WHY??
  • Meeting Length/Accomplishments ~ Meeting of 3/15/11 began at 6:30PM and adjourned at 8:15PM. All that transpired was formulation and adoption of the motion to direct "the Superintendent of Schools to ask all employees of the Greece Central School District with the exception of GUSS and GUSTO to take a wage freeze for the 2011-2012 school year." I believe other things were discussed in the 1 hour and 45 minutes the meeting lasted. Maybe this is an example of the shoddy recording-keeping practices of a BOE that doesn't want us to know what they are doing, when, or how?
  • Retirements ~ Mary Donlon & Theresa Luther ~ Effective 6/30/11~ Coincidentally, Greece's premier EEOC complainers have decided to retire together! Let's hope they feel less discriminated against as Senior Citizens in their retirements ;)

To 3:24PM ~~ That wouldn't extend his employment time, would it? I mean they can just pay him for it, like they do for the others.

Because he gets a new allocation of vacation time on July 1st...not prorated by each month that he works past July 1st....so, he gets paid per day for that many more vacation days that he is allotted each year.

To 6:16PM ~~ That makes sense except that most retirements commence June 30th which would mean no more vacation pay as of July 1. Why isn't his retirement effective June 30th like all the others listed?

Scats. They aren't complainers. They stand up for themselves for what is right. You know they are rIght so stop selling these people short. You know what goes on in Greece. You have already been told by me about the latest case in Greece. It is this bad!!!! Greece's own insurance won't cover them. Every billable hour comes out of your budget. That is because of "these complainers". Greece's insurance sucks. They will not cover anything that has to do with this latest case. This will come out and expose all of the existing Administrators. Just slow your roll. Give it time. Trust me. Aren't you dying to know about the email that was sent to the board last November. Just email me back if you want to know!!!
Signed,

So should we get rid of the senior citizens administrators. Time has passed them by. Do they even know what Facebook is.

The fiscal year goes from July 1 to June 30 of the next calendar year. A July 1 retirement allows the retiree to claim vacation days sick days etc for the ENTIRE FISCAL YEAR if their contract allows. When Walts retired on 7/7/05, he was allowed to cash in all of his vacation time, sick time etc for the year. Those 7 days in July cost taxpayers over $50k in additional payments that would not have been made if the end date was 6/30 or before.

To Coffee ~~ I will email you. Thanks ;)

To 10:42PM ~~ Silly me! I thought that MAYBE we learned a lesson with Walts!

Apparently not :(

Grow up 8:46

To 8:46AM ~~ You mean he'd sacrifice time away from wifeypoo to dine on Greece cuisine?

To 1:10PM ~~ What does the previous remark have to do with growing up? There is a basic psychological premise that people who engage in certain behaviors do so because they seek discovery ;)

Right, scats. Right.

You might be right scats. The old "cry for help" thing.

God forbid that we expect an "adult" in a role model position to end one relationship before starting the next one. (sarcastic)

Overheard on Apollo elevator from Nadolinski to another person in the elevator car.
Why are you staying on until September? Because I am the designated responsible administrator for the successful and correct execution of the EXCEL program. EXCEL will not conclude until mid Sept. at which time I retire.
So rather than leave the EXCEL monies in the hands of leaderless underlings who might do nefarious things with tax dollars, we will have Sheriff Nadolinski riding shotgun on the completion of that program.
Now is that a good deal for the taxpayer? Maybe. Perhaps someone will comment on how well EXCEL is being implemented.

To 9:06AM ~~ AHA!!! Now THERE'S a reason that makes perfect sense! It's not that I think Nadolinski performs flawlessly, but that he certainly knows where all of the skeletons (and slush funds) are kept. Thank you for enlightening us!
