GASA Gets Rich During Contingency

The list of 24 GASA administrators shown below all received raises of $10,000 or more from 2009 (first column) to the present (second column). This shows significant increases occurred while on a contingency budget (2010-11) AND after the BOE settled a new contract with the GASA union (Jan. 2009). At the time the BOE settled that contract, they were already crying aloud about the hardships future budget constraints would bring. While our kids are losing academic offerings, over 100 employees are getting some very lucrative salary increases. These are the worst of them.

Balsamo              108,683 to 120, 266

* He plans to retire this June, so this huge increase will nicely pad his pension ;)

** Being principal of your own kingdom comes with many advantages, not the least of which are huge salary increases.

Huchzermier when from a and assistant principal to the principal...That is probably why there was a large increase.

C'mon SCATS, let's keep perspective. These large increases are really very small relative to our Social Security increases!

Oberg's definition of chump change is killing our tax money, preventing any hope of teachers wage freeze, setting an obscene example of good BOE negotiating, and giving away money while crying that we have bare bones budgets and educational programs must be reduced. The inmates are running the asylum!
Oberg and the others should resign today. The state Ed commissioner should take contol of the district, terminate the entire cabinet, freeze all pay, and press civil charges for the improper gifting of public funds.
These salaries are an outrage. This completes the total collapse of the district's credibility with the public. Until there is an intervention by state authorities we should never vote yes on any budget ever again.
The people that are denying our kids a proper education should be held accountable.

Now you know why the GTA said no to a pay freeze.

This is the union GASA that is taking a wage freeze in the proposed budget. and agreed to no more than a 1% raise next year.

To 10am...Yeah, after the bank was robbed the crooks said that they would only steal a little money in the future. Of course the "sheriff", aka BOE, stood lookout while the looting was going on and then drove the getaway car. And now the BOE claims that the crooks will behave in the future.
Call the FBI or the US Marshalls. We are being robbed!!!

10:10 maybe, but it still is a part of the picture. GTA is giving up nadda!

To 7:19AM ~~ Huchzermeier went from $74,000 as Asst. Principal in 2009 to $79,618 as Principal in 2010 and then to the current $86,525 salary level. The larger increase appears to have nothing to do with the "promtion."

If a salary of $250,000 is CHUMP CHANGE, I wonder what this all adds up to? It makes me sick!!

I hope the D and C and/or Greece Post picks this up and runs with it about the time the board approves the next budget!

To 1:36PM ~~ If you REALLY want to feel ill, you should see the entire list with over 60 names of current employees & their salaries going back several yrs. By the way, everyone was "meeting" or "exceeding" standards ;)

So they all get raises, and the kids get classes cut. Sounds about right in GCSD!

Many of these raises seem excessive.
However, we live in times when those a t the top feel themselves entitled to much higher compensation and greater salary increases then the rest of us. This applies as well to many corporate executives, many of whom make a lot of money off government contracts or connections with legislators who cut them sweet deals.
They are the real welfare bums in this country.

Smoke and Mirrors Scats! GASA will not be taking ANY freeze. They just will not get more $ in July 2011.
The new agreement just approved by them pushes their raise to January 2012 and then another in June 2012

Ques#1: Who recommended the salary increases listed above... and when?

Ques#2: Who approved the salary increases... and when?

NYS needs to set standards for pay, not just Superintendent pay, and then state education money should be linked to meeting those standards.

Districts should be rewarded with reducing transportation costs not penalized with reduced aid the next year

There should also be a law capping how much a districts can spend % wise per sports team/extracurricular activity and the community/family should raise the rest. It is the only equitable way if we continue to have interscholastic sports

Otherwise The Beast, that is public education, will always need to be fed more and more...

Let us not forget there were 5 board members last year who stuck their middle finger up to the community when they voted to increase taxes without voter approval claiming we can't afford another vote.
Now you know why they needed the money.
That hypocracy was indorsed in Aug. when the board signed the tax warrant and NOT ONE board member voiced a concern over how this process was conducted and let us not forget the budget was changed AFTER the vote by taking money out of reserves (your money) to add security people which was not in the budget we voted on.

But don't worry you can 'trust' them now.
Can you say vomit.

To all,

No need to worry. I just listened to the meeting and apparently money falls from tees in Greece.
4th grade music restored
7th grade lote restored
Partial funding for Marching Band and Girls gymnastics.

All is good. No need to worry.

Just the ones you list, SCATs, spend over $275 each and every year, including higher retirement costs. It is clear that the real goal of our school district is the financial wellbeing of the teachers and staff who work here, not the education of the children. Our graduation rate still in one of the poorest in the suburban county, our test scores languish, our drop out rate is still an embarrassment. If we really were pushing for results we would be using this extra money for activities that improve the education of our youth. Someone said, "By their fruits you will know them." We can see what kind of fruit the BOE is growing.

The Frankster already said, they have "Cut all the low hanging fruit and now we are half way up the tree." The BOE ain't grown none fruit.
