PREDICTION: Greece BOE Lacks Spine Needed To Tackle School Choice Issue

The Tuesday BOE meeting agenda item "Discussion on Board Study Session on Schools of Choice Study" appears to confirm rumors that they will NOT deal with the School Choice issue, skyrocketing transportation costs ($5/gal for gas coming soon!) or the need to close buildings to get control of the runaway 2011-12 budget. Why would they plan to discuss the need for the study session if they were planning to have the study session anyway?

The agenda also shows they plan NO discussion about the ongoing health issues of the Interim Supt. which will require him to go for surgery later this month and NOT return, according to many rumors I've heard. Those rumors include word that Don Nadolinski will fill in as Acting Supt. until a new supt. can be hired in the months ahead. Why is it that in Greece Central we hear the names of seriously ill students in all sorts of postings, press releases & fundraising efforts, but when the Supt. gets seriously ill, it's all hush hush, because it's a "personnel issue" that can't be discussed?

This is too funny. A "Study Session" whose purpose is to discuss a "study".
As long as they have the money, they will continue to spend it. Vote NO.

Not exactly 11:40. It is even more absurd. The board agenda item for their meeting is a "Discussion" of an upcoming "study session" that will study the activities of the attendance study committee. Talk about beating an issue to death to never make a decision.

To 4:52PM ~~ C'mon now, don't you think the school board knows what they're doing? (tongue in cheek)

Can we have a vote for paralysis of analysis?

Most advanced area call it "kicking the can down the road", but this sounds more academic.

They are so difunctional that one of the lady board members told me that they started with six superintendent candidates to interview and two have already withdrawn. Who knows who's left in the group that might want to come here or who might be worth our while to have. Maybe they could talk about that at the meeting on Tuesday night.

To 6:22PM ~~ I'm sure they will blame it all on this BLOG too ;)

If I was out of state and considering the Greece job, I would run away from NY and potential salary cap not to mention a corrupt county and town. Oh yeah, and a board that is a ship of fools.
Sooner or later most candidates will realize that Greece sucks for many layers of reasons. And those that still want the job are too dumb to be viable candidates.
But having no superintendent saves a ton of money and can't be any worse than what the last three have done to us.
Lets fire 80% of all the worthless central office staff and invite someone to bring in a whole new crew and clean up our mess. And offer incentive pay based on performance improvement. But with low fixed salaries. The kids learn....and they can earn. Makes sense.

Did you listen to Kimberly and Beck this morning? Who do you think the Greece elected Town Official is they are talking about that admitted to an affair with the murdered dry cleaning lady - they said he told the police they would find his dna on her.

Does that mean that the secondary option will remain as is? ( Based on the prediction that is)

To 1:30PM ~~ I hadn't really dissected it into the individual components. It will be fascinating to see what, if anything, and how much is axed from the budget when it's presented tomorrow night. They have a $7 million gap to cover for, not including losses in state aid ;)

Do they need a vote to remove the secondary option since it was voter approved to begin with?
