Does Greece BOE Plan Secret Meeting Tuesday?

Mr.Oberg:  ALL Discussion With
The Attendance Committee
Should Be Open To The Public!!

Over the last several months, it's become apparent that the Greece Central School District's Board of Education has taken to conducting much of their discussion away from the eyes & ears of the Greece community. Recent meetings have been fast-paced, ending within 90 minutes, instead of several hours. Many votes on key subjects have been held with NO DISCUSSION and NO DISSENTING votes cast. This is atypical for this group, who suddenly appear to be emulating the Town Board's closed, clubby & corrupt methods.

Now it's come to my attention through several channels that a special closed door meeting for Tuesday  has been considered. The purpose: to hear the methodology used by the Attendance Committee in arriving at the recommendations they made to the school board regarding the various School Choice options.

As of this writing, no such meeting has been posted on BoardDocs. I'm hoping that means that Frank Oberg and his gang of 8 have come to their senses and decided against holding such an illegal meeting. Greece really doesn't need another black eye for this kind of behavior, do we Frank?

Oberg and Boily are out of town til the end of the week. Highly doubt there will be a meeting. I saw I the website that the study session on the school of choice study is March 15.

I can tell you that when they gave a cost saving for ending secondary option, they did not then subtract the actual cost to bus kids to homeschool's thus showing the true actual savings.

Example if it cost $20 to send CindyLooHOO to a secondary option and it cost $12 for her to go to her homeschool the saving is only $8, not $20. The report show a saving of 750,000 but fails to subtract the cost for the bussing that these kids will still get.

To 10:39AM ~~ I know about the scheduled study session, which is awfully late following O'Rourke's presentation. Wonder what will happen when he leaves later in March and Nadolinski takes the helm ... ? This is a different meeting that was brought to my attention.

To 10:52 AM ~~ That report is as significant for what it LEAVES OUT as it is for what it covers. Just another messy committee job to make it look like something was done.

FYI ~~ SCATS has received notice that there is a BOE meeting scheduled for Tuesday. It is related to the supt. search I'm told, but it is NOT posted, and no time or place was provided.

To Tom Kackmeister @12:37PM ~~ I was creating a thread on that topic (Supt. salary caps) at the time you were composing your comment. I decided to copy & paste it onto the newer thread, especially since it is so lengthy and removed it from here. Hope you don't mind ;)

Tomorrow evening is not a board meeting it is interview training for all the community people that are on the inteview teams. I know as I am one of the community members.

To 1:59PM ~~ Are you suggesting that none of the BOE will be there? I've already heard differently.

By the way, in your "training" remember that while you can't ask certain personal questions, you CAN ask about things like "If given this job, are you willing to move TO GREECE, buy a home here and become part of the community through that investment?"

Just because that team is having a training session does not mean that the board is not meeting with the attendance committee . The board does not have to attend the training for the interviewers.

And think how much we will save when we just get rid of one of the 4 high/middle schools. Those 700 students will easily be absorbed by the remaining schools. I am not talking about changing a school from a choice school to an attendance school. I am talking about closing the building, the concept, the school. It is not needed. It is fluff.
