Are You Getting The Message Greece BOE?

Cuomo Finds State Budget Flaw ~~ it automatically increased Medicaid and education spending by 13 percent, so that even a 7-percent cut announced publicly would be a 6-percent increase in funding.

Property Tax Cap Passes State Senate ~~ "Let me explain to my colleagues in New York City, we do not have hundreds of thousands of people moving into our districts. People are voting with their feet, and are saying it's because of high property tax." ~~ Joe Robach

School Aid Cut 2-3% In Budget ~~ A state official with knowledge of a private meeting between Cuomo and legislative leaders Monday night said Cuomo is considering cuts of 2 percent to 3 percent in school aid and in Medicaid, while proposing as many as 10,000 state layoffs.

SCATS ~~ I'm sure Frank Oberg and his cronies will find a way to keep open all of our schools, leave school choice/options untouched, and retain sports and extra-curriculars no matter the cost while the BOE further decimates the curriculum. They'll do it "for the kids" and be proud, too. How sad!

So the new guy comes into town (Cuomo) and within one month labels the school aid budgeting process as a 'scam'.
This leads me to ask the other state reps - WHERE THE HE## HAVE 'YOU' BEEN AND WHAT HAVE 'YOU' BEEN DOING???????

Cuomo does not seem very tough on the richest segments of NYS population. There he wears a skirt

To All:

I will know that Cuomo is serious, about the state budget, when he truly lays off half of the 213 personal fulltime governor's staff advisors, cuts legislative staff, reduces welfare/food stamp payments and authorizes private companies to weed out illegal welfare/medicare fraud for a 5% commission. Think of the Billions of Dollars the state could save if the fraud could be eliminated.

What are your suggestions for serious budget cuts?

What are Greece teachers bitching about? No contract...big deal. It has just been reported on AOL news that an Egyptian teacher with 22 yrs. experience, makes 70 dollars a month and has 125 students in her class.

I hope the BOE doesn't read this. Thnik of the money they could save the taxpayers.

Enjoy

Let me guess, the BOE is STILL scared to face the lottery school parents, right?

I don't want to hear ONE school board member whine about the NYS budget and loss of state aid. If it hurts our school district the SCHOOL BOARD has no one to blame but themselves. Seventy (70) to eighty (80) percent of all NYS school budgets are comprised of salaries and benefits for union employees. School boards negotiate and sign these lucrative union contracts year after year after year with no real understanding of how these contracts impact students and taxpayers. If the unions won't come to the table with salary and benefit concessions then let the layoffs begin.

And Coumo's statement regarding Stupidintendent salaries was right on! I can't wait to see all the school mouthpieces try to justify Stupidintendents making MORE than the Governor of NYS. Or the President of our country for that matter!!!

OK Lets get rid of waste fraud and abuse; every one agrees. But then lets get on with the work of cutting real costs. W F and A is always on the plate and never amounts to hill of beans.

What we really need is the state legislature to declare a state of emergency so local gov. and school districts and other public employers can set union contracts aside temporarily to permit those entities to cut real costs!

And Cuomo should not let his talks with state unions drag on for more than a month. They have a way of postponing their way out of any real sacrifice.

To 8:36AM ~~ How much you want to bet that Greece teachers sit back & allow the BOE to cut positions again without offering a wage/benefit freeze? A replay of last year!
