Greece Woman Robbed While Walking Dog

The D&C reports: A woman was robbed this morning as she was walking her dog in a Greece neighborhood.

Just after 8:10 a.m., a woman in her 30s was walking her dog on Pomona Drive, near Castleton Road, when a sport utility vehicle drove down the residential road, said Greece Police Capt. Steve Chatterton.

The woman, who lives in the neighborhood, told officers that three men in their 20s were in a Chevrolet Blazer when one of the men exited the SUV, approached her and stole her purse, Chatterton said.

No weapon was displayed, he said. The woman was not injured.

Chatterton said there have not been any similar incidents in the area in recent weeks.

The SUV was described as an older model red or maroon Blazer with silver rims or hub cabs. At least one of the hub caps was missing.

SCATS ~~ One more incident, one more victim, one more day of denial that we have a problem in the Town of Greece. No problem in recent weeks? We're now accepting crime by how often it occurs in a shorter time frame! Children are standing at bus stops at 8:10AM!!

This can't be true. We know there is no crime in that area of Greece. The new police station is right there.

oops guess they are waiting for their new computers to tell them what to do.

This happened in broad daylight. It was brazen, terrorizing and should be an alert to all residents, we are not safe. The D&C / Greece police are not releasing descriptions of the suspects. How can we be on the alert with little information. Do we need to arm ourselves to take a walk at 8 am? I can't fight off 3 men.

I travel to eastview to go to the mall, because I want to shop and not have to be fearful of fights, and gangs. The police can spin this however they want, but things are not changing for the better.

To 12:41PM ~~ I agree with you. It seems that Baxter has caved into Auberger's political spin machine, among other things. His openness with the Greece community lasted under 6 months. It's back to denial as usual.

Interesting:

Speaking of Malls in the greater Rochester area. Name the one and only one Mall that is not on a public bus route.

Give up? It is not Northgate, Greece Ridge, Henritta Market View or the Irondeguiot Mall.

It is East View Mall. There are no public buses going to East View. It is not by accident. The Mall management has fought and so far won the battle to keep the public buses out.

In which Mall in the Roch. area does the public feel the safest?

Just an observation!

Enjoy

Doug

Doug ~~ Your observations are excellent! How has Eastview been able to keep the buses out? Do they have that choice? For that matter, how are bus stop locations chosen to start with? Anyone know?

Regarding Doug's comments, I'm sure all you would have to do is to look at the addresses of those who make those decisions. I would wager that most of them start with towns that begin with the letter "P". It's the NIMBY principle.

She asked for it, she lives in Greece.

Hmmmm, check this link:

It seems there IS a bus that goes between downtown and Eastview, no?

To 8:32PM ~~ And you don't live in Greece? Isn't it time we clean up this cesspool?

Thanks for the link, 9PM. You appear to be correct. Maybe only the people who live in the $400,000 condos travel there from downtown?

What exactly makes Greece a "cesspool?"

To 1005PM ~~ Crime, corruption, yada, yada, yada.

9 pm That's only for convenience of the park and ride at eastview. At Greece mall and others there are multiple bus runs all day.
In general our public transit system in greater Rochester area is not helpful to suburban residents. It is mainly for within the city or as you all pointed out from the city to the malls or amusement parks.

To SCATS who is going to clean the town up? The police department?

SCATS said...

To 7:25PM ~~ It must start with the people by cleaning office of the corrupted leaders who allow & promote the PD to maintain the status quo.

Anonymous said...

What "status quo" is exactly being maintained by the PD?

To 7:50PM ~~ Think: "thin blue line of silence" ... capisce?
