Greece School Bus Monitor Charged With Sex Abuse

UPDATED @Noon ~~ WHEC reports that the Greece Central School District has fired Kinney: “Greece Central School District officials take the charges against Mr. Paul Kinney very seriously. Upon receipt of a parent complaint on Monday, Mr. Kinney was relieved of his duties. District officials performed their own internal investigation and worked with the Greece Police as part of their investigation. Parents of students who ride Bus #857 were given a letter on Tuesday informing them of the allegation of inappropriate behavior. Greece Central School District officials will continue to work with police. Based upon our own internal investigation Mr. Kinney’s employment with the Greece Central School District will be terminated.”

WHEC reports that 67 yr. old Paul Kinney, of Greece was caught on tape sexually abusing a 7 yr. old who was alone with him on a school bus. The girl told her parents and they called police. More charges are pending and authorities fear there could be more victims.

SCATS ~~ It seems as if the more kids we get on free/reduced lunches, the more Greece parents need to worry about the adults working in the district. Yes, I know there's no correlation there. It's just an excuse to change the focus off the issue. See how these things work? It's fascinating to see that this story didn't hit the airwaves until AFTER the late news, even though it's obvious that it was known much earlier in the day!

What does a free or reduced lunch have to do with this sort of criminal activity? Other than IF he is found guilty, I hope HE gets free lunches for a good long time. But let's let the investigation run its course.

How can one even comment when left speechless about such a horrible thing? It is a good thing I drive my children to and from school! This is just sickening! One question, though, why was the monitor on the bus alone with the child? Where was the driver for such a time that this perv was able to do this? Way to go... another winner in the GCSD!

To 11:49AM ~~ It has NOTHING to do with it. I was being sarcastic :0

To 11:55AM ~~ I wondered the same thing! Maybe he/she was on a contractual break ... ?

Was the bus parked behind a dumpster?

If the driver willingly left him alone with the student, as in left the bus, they too should be fired. Sickening that the very person hired to keep order on the bus has violated a child.

Equally as upsetting is there are many great drivers and aides and this piece of crap excuse for a human being, casts doubt on those that love the job and really care about our students!

To 1:01PM ~~ the idea it might have been hidden from view crossed my mind, too.

To 1:38PM ~~ I know this topic evokes strong emotional responses, so I'm making an exception by posting your unedited comment. But let's not start with the name-calling, OK?

To 1:38- I agree that it does look bad for the drivers and aides who do care about our students. It takes one bad egg to make the whole department look guilty! My understanding is the GCSD Transportation Dept. views the drivers as the "Captains of their Ships" and that they are held responsible for any actions of any Transporation Dept employee and any happenings on their bus. Even if the driver took a break they were not supposed to, these aides are supposed to be people of trust! The District has hired them to be responsible for the well-being of the children while the driver is safely transporting the kids. How long was this man employed by the district?

In the other side of this... what a smart and brave little girl for coming forward and telling. That is not an easy thing to do and that is why most of these things go unreported! Kudos to her!

By 'alone' I think they mean no other children were on board. 857 is a full size bus- they were maybe sitting towards the back. Where was the driver? Perhaps s/he was driving?? Lets not blame everyone for the actions of one. 99.9% of GC school bus drivers and attendants are caring, upstanding people.

This is just another example of how screwed up GCSD is. Greece is full of incompetent arrogant fools. They don't get weeded out, they get promoted. It's just the Greece way.

As a grandparent of a student who rides on this bus, I'd like to see this SICKO be given a shovel to dig his own grave and then drop his lifeless corpse into it.

Can they put the SRO's on the school buses?

As a GCSD staff member I can honestly say that sickeningly I am not surprised that this happened. The quality of people that GCSD hires is like nothing I have ever experienced or anything you would even believe unless you worked there. It seems as they purposely hire (and tenure) the most incompetent, immoral and untrustworthy persons imaginable to fill positions. And to those people who drive their kids to school and think they are in safe hands once they get behind the school house doors, you really need a slap in the face reality check. Abuses can happen in school just as easily as on a bus, and they can take many forms. And guess what? The district will not hesitate to sweep such things under the rug and look the other way to avoid bad press. That is, unless they are forced to act, such as with this poor girls' family who called the police and forced action. I wish I were joking when I say that you would find higher quality personnel (as a ratio) at your local gas station than in GCSD, but I'd hate to offend gas station attendants by saying so.

To 11:03PM ~~ Oh, I believe it. Thus the success of this BLOG ;)

Maybe this happened when the driver was also on the bus and driving and the monitor was sitting with the student. They did not say the bus was stopped or that they had privacy. A driver cannot watch what is going on behind her the whole time. And sex abuse is not always visible above the shoulders. Apparently the activity was reported by the child and then found to have been recorded on video.
