BOE Meeting NOT Cancelled

Despite cancellation of after school activities, tonight's regular monthly BOE meeting will still convene at 6:30PM as planned.

Tune into the meeting on 90.1FM on your radio to hear all of things the BOE probably won't be discussing tonight. That list includes:

Last week's school choice forum
GTA Contract issues
Update on the Supt. Search
Information concerning the health & status of the Interim Supt.
Board & district goals
Enhanced STAR Income Scale discussion
Reigning in budget/spending
And a multitude of other items that are just too hot to handle ;)

How is it possible that an elected member of the board of education can make it through an entire public without uttering a word?
How is it that the board of education can take votes on at least 5 items and have NO discussion at all?

How have they formed their opinions? How have these issues even been considered? Aren't they only supposed to consider these items in public? Apparently open meetings laws mean nothing.

What a wonderful and talented and open board we have here in Greece.

To 8:09PM ~~ Many of them make it through several meetings in a row without so much as a sigh. Maybe we should insist they do roll call in public so we can hear their voices.

Speaking of voices, our interim's voice is cracking much more than normal. He clears his throat constantly. His voice coughs often. But there is NOTHING to see here ... just move along folks ...

Haven't you heard of Twitter? One "Tweet" from the BOE string-puller and you have a road map on how to vote. No need for discussion; that slows the meeting down and adds unnecessary time.

To 8:20PM ~~ You mean that these twits Tweet? Who knew?? lol

They want to be like so many past boards and town boards by not saying anything the public is suppost to think they are VERY smart.
The reality is most of them don't give a da*n.

To 9:16PM ~~ I think it's something a bit different these days. On the order of, if they don't say it, we can't discuss it, complain about it or even know what's going on. Of course this just sets them up for the next scathing installment via a Comptroller's audit, etc. Very smart! ;)

Does anyone know the terms of the teamster contract approved by the board last night? No discussion took place. All items were voted 8-0. It sounded more like a town board meeting. All 'buiness' was done in about 10 minutes with no discussion.

Better than those days where kehoe collected a fat paycheck and wandered the hallways of district office searching for her office

To 8:46PM ~~ Saying it's better doesn't make it so. Tell us how it's better.

I'm not sure it's "better" (I'll have to leave that up to the originator). Kehoe gave the appearance of change and stability to outside observers when in fact her strings were pulled by administrative leftovers from the Walts/MKC regime. She believed (and acted upon) their recommendations allowing the continuance of the toxic strategies that got MKC into hot water in the first place.

To 5:39AM ~~ Greece is all about "appearances." If it looks fine, the Chamber of Commerce will give it a thumbs up, even if it's completely corrupt. Isn't that how Rahn got away with so much for so long? Auberger didn't care as long as things looked ok.

So SCATS, has you tactics here forced them underground?

To 10:31AM ~~ Seriously??
