Greece BOE: One Step Closer To Closed, Clubby & Corrupt

Tonight's regular monthly meeting of the Board of Education of the Greece Central School District began more than 10 minutes late. Not to worry though, as Prez. Frank "Chump Change" Oberg steered them through the entire agenda in just under 60 minutes!
  • There was NO DISCUSSION on any item that came up for vote.
  • There were NO DISSENTING VOTES on any item where a vote was taken!
  • The item that drew the most discussion was the anticipated future plan to meet again with Chamber of Commerce reps and whether or not it should be an "Open meeting" allowing more than four BOE members to attend, as well as the community. Regarding this idea, Roger Boily stated: "You might want to ask the business community. They might not be comfortable in that type of setting since they are not elected officials."
  • The only noteworthy item of community interest was the Interim Supt's closing remarks announcing that there will be an information gathering forum regarding Schools-of-Choice/Signature Schools/Secondary Option on Dec. 9th from 6:30 to 8:30PM in the Olympia HS Auditorium.
SCATS ~~We've sunk to a new all time low when we worry more about kow-towing to the Chamber of Commerce's preferred format for and comfort during a meeting they requested than we worry about curriculum, goals, budgets, graduation rates, school performance, board goals, district goals, etc. which received NO discussion at all, yet again!

"If" chamber members are truly concerned about the school district is there a reason why they can't pic up a phone like anyone else?

Scats,
I would have paid anything to be in that Executive session tonight! I think that is the reason they ended early!

To 9:56PM ~~ Do you know what the topic of discussion was in that Exec. Session, by chance???

To 9:58PM ~~ INDEED!

Scats - I wrote to you several months back and intimated that something big was about to happen. At that time, I could go no further. I can now tell you that the "roof" is about to blow sky high. Just keep your eyes and ears open.

To 3:51PM ~~ I'd love to be able to add to the altitude that the roof travels. Just let me know if there's something I can try to do to help ;)

Once again, the Chamber has complete control of the school board. The biggest disappointment on that board is Oberg. He has completely gone over to the enemy and is marching along goose-stepping in line with those whose only goal is to control the board. Unlike most Chambers that seek to improve their communities, ours does its best to hide all its flaws (the school district, et al) and make it appear that all is wonderful and everyone is in agreement (remember their key word, "civility"). At last, they have accomplished this as all issues are resolved in executive session and they all come out kissing each others' behinds. Sickening!

To 6:57PM ~~ Go easy on Frank. He has grandkids in the district he has to protect ;)
