How Much Did This Cost Taxpayers? To What End?

SCATS ; On the subject of Transportation , Why do the tax payers of Greece have to pay to transport 200 kids to Cortland to watch an Odyssey soccer game on a school day? Is this in the budget? Was Nov.12th a school day ? I'm not sure .It probably was because the Principal , Vice principal and " AD " were at the game. Add those salary's up. I'm sure the cost didn't come out of their pockets .   11/24/2010 9:59 AM

SCATS ~~ You ask some excellent questions! I bet our Greece School Board doesn't even have the answers, since Odyssey's principal operates her school as if she doesn't have to conform to other Greece Central School District standards, policies, rules, etc. Thank you for bringing this item up! It gives a WHOLE NEW MEANING to the phrase "education-based field trip," doesn't it?

I'll bet the BOE approved this probably as a field trip.

Was the BOE given a total cost for this field trip? Buses , drivers , gas , Administrators pay ,teachers pay etc.. I'd like to see the REAL cost of that trip compared to the educational value of watching a soccer game.I don't think it would add up to Chump Change.

Just an FYI ~~ I finally got a few spare minutes and checked both GCSD & Odyssey School calendars. I discovered that Nov. 12th was a school day, not a day off or half day.

I think the game was at night. It was the semifinals of the NYS girl's soccer championship.

To 10:39AM ~~ If true, that only makes this minimally more palatable. We're supposed to be on a contingency budget.

Dear SCATS. PS FYI I am deeply frustrated that for a website that claims to want to better education for our kids, you use "WTF" on your main page with a picture of a cat straight from the short bus BIF. LOL. Crabby Pants Jr. saw that, and has been emotionally scarred 4COL. I can only hope that the Greece Family Support Center can help him, maybe with 420. Plus, as adults, I don't think it's cool to use such teenage text message sayings LMFAO ALOL ROFL. Peace and Love, forever and always 2G2BT. Mr. C. Pants. 143 BBL TTYS.

It was at 9:am at Tomkins Cortland CC on Friday Nov.12th.Getting paid and patting each other on the back at what a great job the Coaches and Administrators are doing . What a joke! 1.Its my dime.2."not taking anything away from the girls"It's really the travel coaches and parents that have spent the time and money and the girls effort.3.Do these overpaid Administrators and teachers really need another 4 day weekend. They get Holidays ,sick days , personal days , pentions, health care, summers off and can do crappy jobs and never be fired.A trip like this is spitting in the face of every tax payer in Greece. In the real world , try telling your boss that your taking Friday off, your taking 200 friends to a game , they are still going to pay you and pay to transport your friends. In fact ,don't even tell them just send them the bill under field trips or something else bogus. Most people would be fired and so should these people. Please tell us"your boss" the REAL cost of this trip DOC .
