It's Official - Athena Forfeits Five!

Athena soccer forfeits five

The Athena boys soccer team has forfeited five of its matches for using an ineligible player who transferred this fall to Greece, his home school district, from Aquinas. Section V needed to approve the transfer before the student played, first-year Athena athletic director Bev Ziegler said.

She declined to provide the player's name. The Trojans were 3-1-1 in those matches. Instead of being 5-2-1, they now are 2-6.

— Jeff DiVeronica (D&C)

SCATS ~~ As usual, no accountability on the part of the Greece Central School District's screw-up.

Bev should have known this because she was in charge of all the AD's in the District! Had she not been such a B.... and let the other AD stay there, then I am sure this would have not happened. Jeff McKinney knows his stuff! We want him back at Athena.

At least it is just a sports issue. It would have been a real tragedy if the regents needed to approve the move before the test scores were allowed to count to graduation!

3:55 - and so the real agenda behind the teapot tempest comes out...Fire the B... and bring back our dude! (and when you say B I don't suppose you mean bumble...)

SCATS said...

To 7:38PM ~~ The only person here who gets to set an agenda is me. MY agenda is to hold the person accountable, make sure it NEVER happens again and to try to make the innocent student's sacrifice one that wasn't made in vain! It might sound simple, but this is Greece where all "officials" wear Teflon.

You know Scats Don Nadolinski had a hand in this transfer...A very heavy hand. We might as well start at the top and work our way down. Nadolinski's name sure seems to be coming up a lot on this blog lately. Apparently he is not "flying under the radar" as much as you think!! What Jeff Mckinney has gone through this past year and the way Nadolinski and Co. have treated him is appalling, disgusting. It is beyond comprehension how Nadolinski or Bev could do this to another human being.

"Teflon Don" must be flaking. There seems to be a lot of things that are sticking to him. We should be calling him "Velcro Don". He has more things on his plate than his arse can handle.

Does Ziegler live/ pay taxes in Greece?
what is her salary?

How many employees on the 3rd floor reside in this town?
I am beginning to notice a very disturbing
reality regarding residency.

Anonymous said...

If Aquinas didn't send the paperwork don't you think the coach should have been intimately aware of this and been following up on it?

SCATS said...

To 11:27PM ~~ Should have been? YES! But as anyone who has followed GCSD on this BLOG knows, accountability is a lot like transparency in this district. It's talked about a lot, but it doesn't exist.

Anonymous said...

According to Greece's P-R machine, Greece hires only the best and the brightest.

If Ziegler is ultimately responsible, then Ziegler is incompetent.

This isn't a "rookie" mistake for someone in that position without regard as to their residence status.

Bev needs to be held accountable! Someone should make her apologize to those boys and families. She should also get written up for it.

SCATS said...

To 9:01AM ~~ Getting written up on here for it is probably as close to getting that as you are likely to get.

Aquinas had nothing to do with it -Bev needed to submit a form to Section V - which in the paper, opps she forgot to mention - bottom line is, she didnt do it! Parent went in asking for answers and apparently, Bev blamed AQ, Coach and the Counseling Center at Athena. All eyes are on you Bev, time to come clean? Her good friend Mike Giruzzi, the AD at Hilton, didnt want to cause a problem when the AQ kid scored a goal , he "just wanted to help Bev out and make sure the paperwork was in on him" *coughs*

Hey folks think that teachers performance in the classroom is any better than this A.D. who did not do her job? Michelle Rhee Washington D.C."Public Schools commish said it best in her ABC interview. US Public Schools deliver a "crappy education". Her words not mine. Mr Teflon/Velcro depending on how he spins it is only worried about two things. "Nads" Nadolinski cares about his next raise and his pension in that order the guy is a pile of BS with a brooks brothers suit on. You think the AD is gonna be held accountable, kids who are functionally illiterate are socially promoted and ushered out of the system so you think they give a cr-p about a few soccer games. If it was my kid on the team I would be at the next board meeting with all of the other parents with kids on the team and have a blowtorch on "Nads" a-- and demand that some heads roll.

Anonymous said...

She would have to write herself up. She still has some other duties besides AD.

If one wants real accountability, check on how the PE programs in the schools have been gutted. Kids are writing in journals rather than doing physical activities. Kids do not know the rules of games because games that keep score can injure self esteem. The PE teachers were under the same reign of terror since the Walts days.

Oh yeah she was in charge of the whole program for more than 10 years.........

To 3:38PM ~~ I concur about the form that needed to be submitted to Section V. How is the rest of the team and the parents handling this? Why aren't they storming district office?

To 4:56PM ~~ Seriously? No more games in gym class where score is kept? Good grief!!

When the lady in the brown pants suit came around, the games stopped and the pens and pencils started working. This was especially true in the elementary buildings.

"Nads" now thats funny. I had a conversation about one of my kids with Nads and Stevie retread last fall. Nads stared into my eyes like he was having a vulcan mind meld with me. I suddenly felt this overwhelming sense of calm and well being. It was then that I realized that he had fused all of the synapses in my brain and drained it of all information into the vacuum inside his cranium. He had effectively eaten my brain. As we ended our conversation I felt that I knew less about what we had talked about that when we began. Just my experience has any body else had anything like this happen when talking to him? Just Joking Around??????? I dunno

my oh my is GCSD looking sweet as pie
Between this AM'S glowing report in the
D&C and this colossal screw up with
the ATHS Soccer team, I am feeling
truly more confident in this district...
and you're going to tell me these
folks give a s!&t and a shake about the
kids? POPPYCOCK!!!!!!!

I think Go "Nads" Go, has lost his nads! He really needs to get his head out of his arse on so many issues! Bev should be gone! She should have been gone awhile ago...guess those brown pants are working for her!

instead of "Student Learning is the Goal",
how about "Even Spielberg couldn't script this".

The next BOE meeting should be interesting.
Roger likes his mug on TV and in the
papers, something tells me GCSD
is going to be in the media quite a bit again
this year. Heck, they might even have
to declare another "emergency" session
to determine how they're going to spin this.

Between where we rank in that Buffalo business report
$125,000 worth of school resource officers being
approved minus taxpayer input, knowledge, or consent,
and one of our high school tes having to forfeit
5 games, I am certain the budget will pass
no problem come May.

Anonymous said...

yea Greece deserves a budget increase alright - when AD's not doing their job, not able to admit responsibilty are making 110k a year *rolls eyes* Comeeee on May!

does Nads still have lunch with the secretary everyday? I'd like to see her salary haha! She ought to share her um raises and get Nads a haircut!

SCATS said...

To 3:36PM ~~ You CAN see her salary if you know her name. If I knew her name, I could post it. Check out any public employee's earnings on : http://www.seethroughny.net/

Anonymous said...

I beleive the her names is Bev Ziegler.

Anonymous said...

3:36 what business is it of yours (or anyone else's) who he has lunch with everyday or otherwise. I WISH some of you could live under this scrutiny that you seem to think is fine for others. Gee, better be careful 3:36 - maybe I saw you talking to the guy at the cold counter a little longer than I think is appropriate. See how ridiculous that sounds? Well, take note.

SCATS said...

To 10:10PM ~~ Sounds like this struck a nerve with you. Like they say, if you have nothing to hide, then there's nothing to fear ;)

PS ~~ God forbid should we expect our children's role models to behave themselves!

Anonymous said...

Could someone explain what Nadolinski has to do with all this? I realize he has HR but Athletics comes under Ann Mitchell and Student Services and Counseling under Deb Hoeft. Ann Mitchell is Bev's supervisor, shouldn't she be held accountable for some of this, and what about Dick Snyder, he's the building principal.

SCATS said...

For the record, Bev Ziegler's salary paid totaled $116,585 in 2009. I think she should be held accountable for this screw up.

Anonymous said...

To 9:47 am, Read the whole blog on this. It explains everything.

Nads and his lunch date collectively chew up about 290 K of salary and benefits per year. This is what we get for it. Screw up after screw up no assignment of responsibility anywhere and bad haircuts in expensive suits. Nads must use Walts old stylist. Nice work if you can worm your way in. Salaries 30 percent above the private sector, benefits others only dream about and if you fail to do your job no penalty box. Nice Huh

SCATS said...

To 7:58AM ~~ I agree with your point-of-view, up to the part about the haircuts. Personal attacks about that sort of thing detract from your other points.

I certainly hope the parents on this team do not drop the ball on this. Keep focused on what's important and how to make it right.

If the principal and AD need to submit some type of formal documentation to Section V (instead of phone call) then get it. Why on earth would they resist doing this and making it right for the team? If the AD made the error, I would think she would want to do whatever it takes to correct.

It all seems so simple, what the heck am I missing?

Someone needs to be called on the carpet for this.

To 5:20PM ~~ I strongly suggest that you organize a group of several people and EACH individually address the BOE at their meeting on Oct. 12th. Get it out into the open.

The School Board knew about the situation, the president's child plays on the team, she did NOTHING. The parent tried to involve Frank, he started strong but in the end, did nothing. Parents wanted a meeting, Ziegler stood off to the side as if she wasnt a part of it. When she was questioned by a team parent, she blatently lied..saying she contacted the AD over at Hilton to see what the procedure was. She claims 5 games into the season, she started to wonder what she needed to do. Her arrogant behavior was unforgettable to say the least. Dick Snyder stood before the room trying to earn creditablity back to no avail. What a flake he is with that colored hair. I was told that the Principal of Arcadia demanded that McKinney come there , she didnt want to deal with Ziegler! Now I know why! Not once has Bev shown up at a game ...she claims she has sat on the players side of the field, now isnt that odd? Why wouldnt she want to meet team parents and mingle in the Athena crowds? An AD w/o a personality isnt good for school politics to say the least. Bev you are the weakest link and I hope you are demoted to the classroom soon!

SCATS said...

To 9:32AM ~~ Thank you for updating us on the outcome. I'm not surprised by the inability of our BOE to accomplish anything.
