Greece BOE Has NOT Yet Begun To Search Again

SCATS apologizes for misleading the community into thinking the Greece Central School District Board of Education had renewed its efforts in September to find a new superintendent. Tonight, Ch. 8 news reported that the search will resume next week, just in time for Halloween.

Addressing the failed first attempt to find the right person from some 20 interested candidates, Greece BOE President Frank Oberg said: "You don't hire somebody because they are a warm body. You hire them because they're the right person for the job. We put a lot of effort into it. We interviewed a number of people and there wasn't a good fit."

SCATS ~~ Coincidentally (once again), SCATS wrote about the school board's ridiculous delay in renewing the search earlier today! We're sure (cough, cough) our BLOG on the topic had nothing to do with this story appearing on the news tonight ;)

Frank, the Greece community has
heard your diatribe five times in the last
decade. If any of us think (again) that
a new super is going to turn this
district around we are fools.

I don't think it is delusional to believe that the BOE monitors this (and other) blogs. Because you permit anonymous postings, people feel free to say what's one their minds. While the policy allows zingers, sometimes hasty and insensitive comments, there are frequently meaningful discussion of issues that do not occur elsewhere.
Please keep the forum open!

To 5:34AM ~~ You make an EXCELLENT point!!

To 7:34AM ~~ To turn this district around would require emptying out ALL administrators AND teachers, then starting from scratch with brand new contracts, right?

To 8:13AM ~~ I know for a fact that the BOE has monitored this BLOG in the past. Letting the larger community in on what's REALLY happening is a good portion of the purpose of this BLOG. I believe if people are thinking it or whispering it to others, it's better to let the "powers that be" know what's really on the minds of the populace. I never promised it would be sugar-coated ;)

Scats, The BOE does not follow your little meaningless blog.

Respectfully,
Frank Oberg

I don't read it either!!

Sincerely,
Donald O. Nadolinski

PS...There is no truth to the rumor that I am retiring in January.

To 4:45PM ~~ Thanks for sharing, Don.

PS ~~ There is no truth to the rumor that I planned a BLOG about your plans to retire in January :)

Now we know who doesn't read it, it must be someone in the supervisor's office or the GPD

Don't leave us out. We don't read it either!!

Is the oberg quote at 4:32 a joke. If he doesn't follow the blog how does he know what is in it to comment?

SCATS said...

To 9:11PM ~~ Only Frank knows for sure. I know he read it sometimes in the past. Is he a current fan? You'll have to ask him directly. My guess is he would deny it even if he did read it.

I have a difficult time understanding your blog.

I think the interum super could be talked into a three year contract. And several administrators would love to see that happen. I concur!

To 2:12PM ~~ Bite your tongue! I'm SURE our current BOE would love to be let off the hook on finding a new supt. But hiring some other district's has-been leader isn't in the best interests of Greece Central students.

You are right SCATS. The times have changed. Dinosaurs don't. They become extinct. The district needs to find someone younger. Someone that would be willing to stick around for a while. It would be nice to have someone that could come in with fresh ideas.

As far as hiring the interim for 3 years. What would he care if anything gets accomplished. He is RETIRED. he wouldn't care what happens.

What is it we want a new super to do? Has that been defined? If so I haven't heard it.
So far we seem to spend alot of time being concerned about 'how' things are going to be done which is NOT the job of the board.
Simply put the board has educational goals of? We are willing to pay XX$$ to do what?

Sorry for being redundant but I can tell the readers Steve A cooked his goose his very first year when his first budget was rejected by the voters and him and a board majority said 'screw you' community WE are going to increase spending anyway. From that point going forward 'they' were tolerated but never 'trusted'. Unfortunatly some never learn.

Has been leader? We should be so lucky to get person of that caliber!

To 4:14AM ~~ Touche! On second thought, I admit you are correct.

Can you guys take Stevie A back? What's the real story on his "retirement"?

To 8:09PM ~~ His contract wasn't renewed following a poor performance review by the BOE who gave him no raise. They wanted him gone.
