Part 2: Did Athena Varsity Soccer Team Forfeit 5 Games?

Due to the ongoing interest in this controversy, I've decided to do a bit of digging and think I may have come up with some information certain supposedly knowledgeable folks say was unavailable. I guess I should have known better than to rely upon a sports booster parent type to lift a finger in defense of their contentions, but I digress.

Here is the Section V website

Here is the Section V Boy's Soccer Handbook

Here is the NYSPHSAA Transfer Rule

Here is the link for Section V forms

Here is the link for the REQUEST FOR WAIVER OF THE NYSPHSAA TRANSFER REGULATION

I have NO PLANS to read or digest all of this stuff. Instead, I'll moderate while you folks read and debate ;) Please remember to be a "good sport"!

Yes those are all the forms. The problem being someone at Greece Athena didn't use them! It was a rubberstamp process, new player enters school from outside private school, wavier needs to be filled out and sent to Section V. This never happened. AD at Athena has so far blamed, the old school which was Aquinas, when it clearly states this form is processed by the new school, then she blamed her Coach, Bill Hueber, and then she blamed the Counseling Center. I spoke with another AD and he asked how the AD when entering the fields during summer practice, didnt notice this new 6 4" player that just appeared. Hmmm maybe if she exited the building and walked onto a field once in a while she would meet her players. Bottom line is, the kids pay the price for her error. As the AD, its shocking she didnt address the issue with players or parents, claims an appeal was filed which the team soon found out was a lie, she made a phone call, which isnt an appeal! How do we fix this so it doesn't happen again? How do we communicate to Section V that they need to review the penalty and do they have the ablility to change it? Maybe the school district should be fined, they made the error.

Boy I bet the D&C would love this story.

Yet again another embarrassing situation for the Town of Greece.

I never said the forms were unavailable, I stated the link posted on the other thread didnt work when cut and pasted into the browswer.

The forms arent for parents or players to fill out - the form is to be filled out by AD and Section V.

To 1:42PM ~~ Again, YOU are wrong. On the previous thread, you (or someone like you) posted :"So to answer your question - there is no LINK to the form, its not a parent or student form. It is strictly something submitted by the AD when a kid switches school - Which part of this arent you comprehending????"

I responded: "I love proving people like you wrong :) I posted links to ALL of the forms on a new BLOG for your "entertainment" and "comedy" pleasure. I won't hold my breath awaiting your apology. Afterall, I know manners has no place among the sports booster group ;)"

You (or someone else like you) complained they didn't know what new blog I was talking about. Until now, no one complained that the link on the original thread didn't work. I have ALL comments retained for proof. What do you have? In fact, others responded after checking out the link I referenced, so I guess it must have been working yesterday ;)

The fact of the matter is that the forms in question ARE on the Section V site. I found the link, posted it and have gotten nothing but crapple from some of you folks ever since. You need to remember, I'm not the Greece BOE here. I do NOT succumb to a bunch of hyped-up bullies who think sports make the world go round. Further comments attacking me or being ridiculously nasty when YOU do not know what you're talking about will be deleted without comment.

See what happens when I try to help?

To 1:23PM ~~ Don't hold your breath! In fact, I haven't seen our infamous reporter's byline on an article lately. Several recent stories merely say "staff reports" or give no author at all.

To 1:20PM ~~ I'd suggest that a group of you take it to a sports reporter on Ch 10 or YNN maybe. I'd also suggest that the same group EACH SPEAK TO THE ISSUE at the next Resident's Forum at the Oct. 12th BOE meeting.

Why does everything have to be escalated to the level of the media. An error happened - hold the people accountable through the appropriate channels and then change (or revisit) the process to make sure it doesn't happen again. My God, not everything is media worthy -- unless, of course, your goal is hype and humiliation instead of problem solving and solution.

To 6:03PM ~~ You're right. Let's just sweep it under the rug. (oozing sarcasm)

Funny it did hit the paper yet Bev Ziegler still didnt step up to the plate and admit it was her error - she tired to imply it was the error of Section V - when Section V didnt receive the paperwork that SHE SHOULD HAVE PROCESSED. Come on Bev, do the right thing!

To 9:37AM ~~ Is there a link to the story? Was it the D&C? I'm not seeing it online, but it might be "buried."

I've been told this hit the newspaper. I'm not finding anything either.

The part about the forfeit is in the upper right corner of this article. It calls Zeigler a "first year AD" as if that were an excuse.
