Education Nation: Teacher Town Hall

Anonymous said...

And what are we learning from this conference?

We learned 47% of teachers are in the bottom third of their graduating class!

We heard a young female teacher stand up and explain how her UNION prevents her from teaching kids and giving the kids the help they need by CONTRACT.

So, is this an admission UNIONS and Schools of Education are bad for education?

To 1:51PM ~~ You mean I've been right all along about teachers not becoming rocket scientists if it weren't for the field of education?

By the way, did you mean the Board of Education?

Scats we both know NY Boards of Education are complete jokes made up largely of power hungry freaks.

NY Education Law pretty much neuters a local Board of Education beyond selecting the winner who will play Stupidintendant. After the idiot in charge is selected the Board is pretty much a rubber stamp/joke.

Look to Hilton as a shining example, opposition candidates don't even bother to run against the entrenched machine. The machine sits at monthly meetings patting themselves on the back for their magnificent accomplishments and acheivment of deliverables. Meanwhile 2 comedians run the District into the ground at rapidly increasing speed. They have succeeded in demoralizing the community, and producing crop upon crop of uneducated kids loosed onto the job market every June.

NY Public Education is nothing but a dirty joke!

To 12:53AM ~~ In my opinion, the fact that there are no teeth in NYSED law makes it a joke. The only punitive action that would be meaningful is never taken - withholding some or all of the state aid. Because of politics, corruption and waste are the order du jour.
