Closed, Clubby & Corrupt Meet Tonight @6

Authorization to approve the following contracts:

Greece Central School District to provide School Resource officers for the 2010-2011 school year.

AGENDA

SCATS ~~ I thought the SRO's were in place on the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. How can that be true if this agreement to provide them wasn't already adopted? Oh, I almost forgot! That's the "corrupt" part, right?

That's the "could not care less" part of the oath of office that the school board and town board members take when they are sworn into office. This special waiver allows them to get away with approving the expenditure of money(school board) and personnel duties change(town board police) with a vote that would be retroactive. Completely illegal but they own city hall so they get to break the law. Fine example for the students of our district. Do the students still get to receive an A if they hand in the long term assignment late? If we pay our taxes late do we get our names in the paper as scofflaws or can we say "we are paying them for last January. That should be ok."
Add inCompetent to the 3 C's describing the town board.

We have no plan in place, no evidence of
a completed needs assessment for increased security,
no cost-benefit analysis,
nor a specified means by which to benchmark the
program, measure the program impact, and determine programmatic outcomes.

Thus, we figured this would be the ideal time to draft, approve, and fund an intermunicipal agreement.

To 7:01PM ~~ Until I saw the word "security" I thought you were talking about schools-of-choice! PHEW!!!

I was looking at the agenda and noticed a hire for another full time person in "constituent services."
How much are we paying for non-existent services here? Besides Firkins there are secretaries and I think other staff. I know Firkins is getting close or even over $90,000 a year in salary
I see this as little more that a political operation for Auberger funded by taxpayers money.

So did they buy Ball off last night too?

To 12:30PM ~~ If they did, they aren't communicating it with the taxpayers, but then that isn't new ;)

actually they did approve something like that

Firkins salary 2009 $92,961 and for 2010 $97,772 . Auberger was at 107,723 then this year 114,568. It must be a fiscal year that ended in July. Nice average raise they gave themselves of 6.5%per year.
But the police make more than the 2 "I am he and we are all together" duo. Steve Chatterton 126k last year. Pat Phelan is at 140k this past year. And some others with Steve's same last name do too. Public employees have to give up a little privacy to make their built in raises and forever pensions.

To 7:25PM ~~ After "turning every stone" they deserve some big fat raises, no?
