We're Back To Secrecy In GPD ...

Here's the rest of the story:

Richard E. Durfee, 48 of Chili, his son Austin A. Durfee, 16, of Greece and nephew Richard M. Durfee, 22, of Chili were each charged Thursday with first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, second-degree assault and first-degree reckless endangerment, all felonies, said Greece Police Lt. Steven Chatterton.

The three men are accused of forcing their way into an apartment at 398 Elmgrove Road, firing several shots and stabbing a 40-year-old man in an apparent drug-related altercation about 11:30 p.m., Chatterton said.

The D&C reports ...

A male was treated and released from an area hospital after being injured in an assault, Greece police said.

The man's name and age have not been released.

Lt. Phil Schultz of the Greece Police Department reported that officers responded to 398 Elmgrove Road about 11:30 last night, where officers found an injured male.

Officers discovered that a vehicle with three occupants had fled the scene before police arrived.

A vehicle matching the description of the fleeing vehicle was stopped a short time later, and police took three people into custody, Schultz reported.

SCATS ~~ Secrecy = DYSFUNCTION. Everyone knows where that got us under Rahn's watch , right?

Why is that secrecy?

To 10:32AM ~~ Why? Good question!

I don't understand why you're claiming "secrecy."

To 12:48PM ~~ The article tells you nothing ~ no name, no age, no idea of what transpired. It's back to the way things were before Baxter took over. GPD isn't going to tell us what's happening around town.

SCATS are you serious? Names and ages aren't necessarily released until the investigation gets underway in departments all over the county, state, etc. And you're claiming old days secrecy?

Really? Can you please explain why you have a problem with this in Greece even though this is stadard operating procedure throughout the public safety community from all over?

You seem to be very unhappy in Greece no matter what is done, but I don't get this recent rant.

Why would we want to know anything, There is no crime in greece so just look the other way you too can forget.

A new catch phrase for Greece The stepford town

Other news sources have the details...Channel 8 has a pretty accurate run of what happened.

Some things aren't released until all people are apprehended or witheld for age reasons even. They are reporting the incident are names really the only thing you are claiming secrecy on? That is really a stretch.

Thanks 3:12
Here is a link to that story. It was a home invasion of an apartment. The perps were from the same family. Apparently the dad was doing some on the job training with his sons.

To 3:44PM ~~ When they withhold info due to age, would it be so terribly hard for the reporter to tell us that? By the way, it looks like my suspicions were accurate in that the real story is something people might want to make note of for future reference. This town has gone to hell, thanks in large part to the go along crowd much like 3:44PM ;)

4:35PM ~~ Thanks for the link. After reading that, no wonder they tried to keep it underwraps! I wonder if the 16 yr. old attends Greece schools ...

The family that plays together stays together

Two of the younger folks appear to be on facebook, If that is correct one is ex-military

The address of the apartment is in the Spencerport district. The local channels didn't report addresses of the three arrested on their 5:00 news

The name of the father is on whitepages as Ruggles off Beach ave across from the charlotte park. With the age between 45 and 49 that could be him. That looks like the city and not Greece schools but the boys may not live with him. Could have been their Wednesday visitation.

SCATS, I really feel that you should move to someplace you can be appreciated. Clearly Greece is not for you. I hear there's an award winning superintendent in Prince William Va - perhaps you'd be happier there.
To put a rant out because a D&C reporter didn't get the facts before press time and try to blame it on the town secretiveness is foolish and I thought beneath you. But maybe not.

To 2:11PM ~~ How can you "feel" that a total stranger should move? You can suggest it. You can promote it. But I really don't think you can "feel" it. Since I'm not "feeling" it too, I'm staying put. Thanks for your interest in my personal life ;) And thanks for chiming in Meaghan.

If keeping secrets wasn't an issue in the past, there might be less suspicion now. It will take much time and repeated efforts to correct past mistakes before Greece residents really trust their PD going forward. Sloppy reporting isn't helpful.
