A 7.9% increase to maintain the status quo of being last or next to last on most measures across the county! Just imagine what it would cost if we actually tried to improve our schools!
A no vote sends a message, but does anyone really expect that the contingent budget will be any less. Unfortunately the law allows the contingent budget to be based on the previous year's BUDGET not the previous year's ACTUAL expenditures.
Oh well, such is life in the Greece school district!

To 4:33PM ~~ Don't look now, but that 7.6% hike does NOT maintain the status quo! There is a very long list of things that were cut. Sadly, that list fails to include the items that should have been axed first ~~ West Ridge Kindergarten, busing for schools-of-choice & signature schools, some extra-curriculars, stipends ... to name but a few.

I spoke with a GCSD teacher who mentioned that new desks or funtinure was being put into several classrooms in the school they work at, despite the fact it was totally unnessecary. It was mentioned how up in arms the school's teachers were that the disrtict had money to spend on this, yet teachers were about to be laid off. This teacher then went on to say that the transportation report, and the un-needed expenses it highlights, were further proof that laying off teachers a crazy solution to the financial crisis. When I asked the teacher why his/her union wasn't standing up for it's members by pointing such wasteful spending out, as a way to save it's members, the teachers shrugged his/her shoulders and said he/she didn't know. Over a million dollars a year up in smoke for nothing, and we're laying off teachers! WHERE IS THIS EVER POWERFUL GTA?! IT'S MEMBERS ARE MAD AND SCARED TO DEATH, YET WE'RE STILL BUSSING KIDS ALL OVER THE DISTRICT FOR NO REASON!

Yes, lots of meaningless cuts that don't address the real issue and that is the lackluster performance of our schools. We can move more than 10,000 students around the town, but we can't provide a real quality education that is as good as most of the other towns in the county. Our taxpayers are being treated like endless reservoirs of funding and our children are being shortchanged. When will it all end?

Keep talking SCATS. The blood of every taxpayer in this community is boiling.

These "teachers" think that they are responsible for the entire future, when in fact, many of them only have these jobs because they chose them as a "default" to either not being able to make it elsewhere, or because after being perpetual students themselves, it was logical for them to stay where they were "most" comfortable.

It's time to open up the can on them all, start looking at the morals, ethics, behaviors, drug use, backgrounds, etc., and start weeding.

They can also get off their asses and work year round like the rest of the world. No more pandering to the whiners. Work or get out.

To 9:18PM ~~ If you think their blood is boiling now, just wait & see what little surprise GTA has in store for Greece residents if Tuesday's budget passes. Stay tuned ... it could be a very bumpy and costly ride.

Now lets see if we can be number one in rejecting the budget by the largest margin in the hisorty of NY.

VOTE NO ON TUESDAY!!!

Webster, Victor, Henrietta, Gates
4% increase in taxes.

Hilton - 6%

Canandaigua, Greece over 7%

If people approve these tax increases with their vote hang on to your hat, other taxing entities will have every reason to believe people are not concerned about paying more and pay more you will.

To 9:43AM ~~ Not only that, but imagine what will happen with our "unresolved" GTA contract!

Teachers individually are generally ok people. When unionized the collective whole is worse than organized crime. Duffy is right unions have now become the evil that they were fighting against. When you get the likes of little Dick Ianuzzi NYSUT union thug boss and Don Palozzi local GTA hack buying and selling politicans wholesale it really is a Racketeer influenced corrupt organization(RICO) and should be investigated as such. When guys like Adam Urbanski can brazenly stand in the way of reform to the detriment of the students and protect their under paid under appreciated over worked constantly whining membership it is time to send a message loud and clear we are not standing for this anymore. Like Mayor Daley corrupt democrat Mayor of Chicago used to say "Vote early, vote often NO

To 11:10AM ~~ Think of the complete opposite to what you wrote.
