Steve Walts Named Region IV Supt. of the Year

Walts is one of eight contenders who will be considered for Virginia Superintendent of the Year to be announced May 4th.

“Dr. Walts would be the first to give credit to the nearly 10,000 employees who are the faces of this World-Class School Division for their hard work and ask that they share in this honor." ~~ Milton C. Johns, School Board Chairman At-Large

Listen up PWC residents ~~ Those who don't remember the past are condemned to repeat it!

BLOG Administration rejected publication of an anonymous comment by someone claiming to represent a named community group. If you are going to make that sort of claim, then you need to sign your name.

Who was on the panel to choose him for this honor? Parents and community or the school board presidents of the areas? Sounds like a mutual admiration society of administrators choosing one of their own for PR opportunity.

To the person who asked ~~
"@ SCATS 10:44 - since when has that ever been true?"

Ever since YOU attempted to post earlier today as a representative for a group you clearly never joined ;) No one's ever sunk so low, as far as I recall.

The news release from PWC claims that in spite of math and reading performance increased each year in spite of higher standards and that the supt was the person who identified teaching focus for each year. Makes one wonder why he could do it there and couldn't do it in Greece. In fact, why can't anyone seem to do it in Greece, where we continue to languish near the bottom of the county for educational performance. Maybe we should be looking at the differences between Greece and PWC that allow students there to do well...

He is being honored for achieving "Adequate Yearly Progress"

The others must be awful to have lost to him for this wonderful achievement of mediocrity and bare minimum.

Scats-10:44 here-hows it feel to get some of your own medicine.

To 9:05AM ~~ Huh? I've never professed to represent any named group, unless you mean the silent majority who oppose the closed, clubby, corrupt status quo. In that case, bring it on!

Isn't "Adequate Yearly Progress"
what NY state calls it just before they take a school off the "needs to improve" list?

Calling me names really won't help you make any case ;)
