WHY IS LOSZYNSKI STILL HERE?

I saw him enteringTown Hall this afternoon.

Why is he still holding Auberger's hand?

How much have we spent now?

When will this "investigation" end?

Will the taxpayer's ever get their questions answered?

The bigger questions is why were you at Town Hall? Paying those traffic fines??? Or did you get arrested again?

To 9:27PM ~~ I went to the library and decided to take a walk around the campus when I came out. I can honestly say I've never had the pleasure of either receiving a traffic citation or being arrested. How about you?

Guess you were wrong about the Meet and Greet being cancelled last night. Saw it on the news.

Where is the finance committee when you need them!

To 7:30AM ~~ My opinion is never "wrong." ;)

Loszynski is doing the background checks on New hires on the GPD.

To 11:59AM ~~ Does this mean Loszynski will be staying in Greece permanently? It sounds like that would normally be expected as part of the Chief's duties, no?

SCATS - If you think a Chief has the time to do background checks you are in La-La land. It is his responsibility to assure that they are done by someone trustworthy and in a manner that is thorough enough to pass any scrutiny that may be applied downstream. This is a process that does not come free. It seems reasonable to use a resource that has been vetted and accepted by the general public. I think it's money well spent.

To 7:59PM ~~ You may be correct that the chief doesn't have time for this important task. However, I don't recall any particular action by the community that would signify "acceptance" of Joe Loszynski for this (or any other) purpose. Please specify what you mean. Thank you!

Other than having been hired by the evil John Auberger ( a mortal sin in your opinion), I have not seen or heard any credible negative comments about the capabilities of Mr. Loszynski, and by the way it is not the community's action to accept or reject any and every temporary appointment. It is certain nothing would ever get accomplished if that were so. As far as I have heard Mr. Loszynski has an exemplary record of service and did a good job of investigating the transgressions of Rahn and his lackeys. If he is an evil anti-Christ, let's hear the evidence. Seems to me he's doing what he's being paid to do and doing it well. If Chief Baxter has faith in Mr. Loszynski's data, then I support them both.

To 8:38PM ~~ Surely you must jest! Earlier today, I was chastised for referring to something I "heard." So please, tell us all what are your sources that you have "heard" from that made what you "heard" credible?

You call this a "temporary appointment" yet the man has been here almost a full year! I remember Auberger telling the community that JL's work would be wrapped up by several different deadlines. Not only did it NOT happen, we've been given no reason for the change of plans. After nearly a year of sucking off the Greece taxpayer's teat at enormous expense, we've been told next to nothing about what JL and his team (that sometimes included 8 others!) have accomplished. It's time to pony up with some evidence that we got our money's worth. It's time to put JL in front of a roomful of people and let them ask him some questions. This has become the never-ending investigation.

I suspect that Uncle Auggie wants JL in town when Rahn's case comes up March 29th ... just in case things start to get too hot under the Supervisor's backside.

I heard he and Auberger were dating. I'm waiting for this to show up on cable access.

Is JL a perm employee or is he on contract? He has been here so long is it possible he is getting taxes with held or does he get a 1099?
One could make a case that if he is still just under a contract and not having his taxes etc with held that the town is trying to avoid following some laws. He does not work for anyone else. It's not like he is doing jobs for other towns like a lawyer or auditor. Then he should be paid with the town with holding his taxes and paying into fica etc for him despite his age and supposed retirement status. .
He was not hired. He was brought in under a contract as an independent entity. Maybe the state attorney general should check into a possible tax evasion situation on the part of the town and this individual.
We can see any documents having to do with his pay and taxes with a FOIL request to the town clerk. That could rattle a few cages.

To 8:10PM ~~ You bring up something I never thought about. I've never heard that he was under a contract. I always had the impression he was brought in very temporarily, like a consultant. If he is under a contract, the terms of that contract would be public. Does anyone know if the Town Board ever voted on anything related to this fellow's employment here? This could be very interesting.

More on JL and who he really is. Employee or independent contractor.
Article on "misclassification of contractors"

http://www.ebglaw.com/showarticle.aspx?Show=11200

There is a 20 question test to see if someone should be considered an employee versus an independent contractor. One part is "does the person only work for the one company? (town?)

Another question is does the contractor use the offices and supplies of the company/town or have his own office?

If the person has been an employee of the town for 6 months when he leaves he will get unemployment benefits. Not so for the independent contractor.
Does the town set his work day and give him standards to follow and give him a schedule of work? Then he is an employee.
Anyway this has gone on long enough. We deserve answers. Is he here forever? If he is an independent contractor and uses part of the town hall for his business he should be paying rent for the space as well as money to the town for using the office staff and machines copying, telephones etc. And can other independent contractors rent town hall space? I think not.
If he is an independent contractor why are we paying his living expenses? The hotel. If we are, those expenses should be added to his 1099 as income and he should pay tax on that.
