"News" That Was Buried ...

WHEC-TV reports: "A 39-year-old Greece man has been charged with second-degree attempted arson after a fire broke out at Romig’s Bar and Tavern on Bennington Drive in the city. It happened on February 1 around 1:15 a.m.

Investigators say Richard Vanorden deliberately tried to start a fire in the tavern. It was discovered quickly and extinguished by employees at the tavern. No one was injured.

Vanorden will be arraigned Thursday morning."

SCATS ~~ Now I'm starting to wonder if most of the Dewey Ave. area crimes are committed by Greece residents ... hmm ...

Romigs is in the City not Greece. Thought you would know that SCATS.

To 11:42AM ~~ I do know that. Where did I say otherwise?

Boo freakin' hoo 11:42. Maybe your theory about being out of the boundaries in Greece is directly attributal to problems in Greece when your police chief and key town staffers don't live in the town they serve. Go take your keen sense of boundary rationalization to the next town bored meeting and explain your "give a damn" is busted.

To 1:22PM ~~ Now, now. Play nicely :) Some people actually bought the idea that the body dumped in Adeline Park was done by someone who didn't realize they were in Greece at the time, in other words, it was an accidental placement of a murder victim (wink, wink). 11:42AM might be one of them ;)

And that crime that occurred in Adeline Park has never been solved just like the robberies. Too much time at Tim Hortons.

Chief Rahn leaves, crime increases. Coincidence?

To 5:37PM ~~ I'm not sure whether it has actually "increased" or if it's that we're hearing about more of it now. It seems like a lot of things never saw the light of day in the past. I blame it on our Safe City designation ;)

Fire was obviousely set by a covert agent for the Greece Republickinnnn Party.

Good thing it was stopped quickly by employees or the Greece Democrats wouldn't have a place to gather & plan for their next Suck Cespool campaign.

I know it didn't make the news, but an arrest was made in those recent Dewey Ave. robberies...

Nonetheless, I think in Rahn's time crime statistics were manipulated and you are now actually getting a more accurate view of what goes on in Greece. It is a town of approximately 100,000 people, so to expect nothing to happen is being naive.

Incidents like the Island Cottage Rd. murder and the police shooting in December seem to me to be the result of strained times in our country. Both men were going through rough times and ended up making poor choices. Crimes like these are not preventable. Certainly, crime appears up in Greece, but I think it will take a few years to show whether this an anomaly, or an ultimate trend upwards.

To 1:28AM ~~ Which Dewey Ave. robberies are you referring to? One arrest did make the news related to the burglary at the Dollar General. Are you referring to the Kwik-Fill hold-ups? Something else?
