Loszynski's Tab: $719,000 & Still Climbing!

According to Deputy Town Supervisor Jeff McCann:
  • A full report on Loszynski's work for the town will be made public after the criminal case against former Chief Merritt Rahn is resolved.
  • Loszynski's team helped compile much of the evidence that could be used in Rahn's upcoming trial
  • Loszynski's team conducted wide-ranging background checks on all potential hires for the department.
"How can anyone put a price on the integrity of a police department? If you don't have credibility with your members and the community, you don't have a police department." ~~ Joseph Loszynski

STORY

SCATS ~~ How can anyone put a pricetag on covering the Supervisor's and his pals' backsides? If you don't do your homework thoroughly, the closed, clubby & corrupt administration might not weather Rahn's trial in the court of public opinion ;)

Now I know why my assessment rose over 10%!!!!!!!!!

Your assessment rose because the town believes that the value of your property increased, despite generally lower selling prices and a tight job market.

There is no chance that this is a scam. Just ask the town, they'll tell you that it rose because comparable properties rose. Don't ask 'em for a list of those properties, though. That's none of your business.

To 1:57PM ~~ They will let you see the list of properties. But then it's up to you to figure out which ones they used ;)

Money well spent!

Sit down with them and they will explain your assessment. If you are reasonalbe they will be too. I've done it with appropriate data and had satisfactory adjusments made on two difrferent properties.

Complaining to your neighbor will not work!

To 11:17AM ~~ They will not explain to you HOW they arrived at the number they use for your property's value. I know this because I, too, have challenged the numbers. I've been successful too, despite their lack of showing me how they arrived where they did. I'm still waiting for this year's price rollback to be announced.

They don't show you how they got their asseessment , you show them the data you believe demonstrates your assessment of fair value. If you have reasonable good information, they will adjust your assessment.
If you go in half prepared, you will loose. If you go in with "comparables" that they do not think are comparable, they will tell you why.
Just be prepared and honest with yourself.

To 9:54AM ~~ Thus Golisano's court case! Just last night he told reporters that if WNY'ers had a clue about their property taxes compared to the rest of NY State ...

It's ridiculous that they can't show you how they arrived at your assessment when THEY are supposed to be assessing at fair market value, according to the ORPS laws. If they can't show it, then maybe they are taking the masses for a long ride. They aren't getting me onboard. I fight it. I win. You get to eat the difference ;)
