I hope he can live up to all of the rhetoric. We need a hero. Best wishes to you Todd!

Can he do worse? Well...will he? I hope not.

To 3:30PM ~~ Can Todd Baxter do worse? I don't know.

To 3:01PM ~~ I agree that Greece is in DESPERATE need of a true hero. As they say, "No guts, no glory." Finishing cleaning up GPD should be job #one. There is further room for improvement there and a lot of people know it. We'll be watching! Although I'm a bit skeptical, I do wish him the best.

Todd will likely face an attempt to undermine his authority from the top.

He clearly was nit Auberger's choice. His man for the job flunked the sniff test so even Auberger could not appoint him.

No love will be lost.

Todd had to break the back of Auberger insiders in the force if he is to succeed.

Let's see if Todd has the stone to tell Loczynski (basically) to pack his bags and get the hell out of our town!

Nearly 700K to that thief! Maybe he should arrest him instead!

Highway Robbery.

What worries me is that this DYSFUNCTIONAL town will chew him up and spit him out if he doesn't get in line to tow the line. One person can't pull off an intervention alone. They end up becoming part of the problem and dysfunctional themself. I'm wondering if that explains Uhrmacher now becoming second best as "acting" interim deputy chief. When all is done, will he just go back to being a Lt. like nothing happened? Or will he retire?

Lots of best wishes, Todd. You have my support!

I am still concerned that th swearing in event was basically a chance for vapid civic boosterism. and empty claims about a new beginning.

On the one hand Lozinsky is saying the dept is a hotbed of corruption on the other we are touting ourselves as a great police department. These are incompatible statements. Enough of these grandiose statements with no backing or evidence to believe them.

Remember when one new superintendent sold us a bill of goods about creating a world class school district.

I would settle for competent police department. You have to be at least average before you can be good.

To 10:22AM ~~ I agree with you. In fact, don't forget that a few months back, when pressed to make a statement, Loszynski blamed it all ... the corruption ... on just one man ~ Rahn. To which I've asked: "IF Rahn is responsible for all of the corruption, then why are two other officers in state prisons, another awaiting trial but Rahn is spending his $10K parting gift from Uncle Auggie while awaiting his day in court on a bunch of charges he should have faced a decade ago when he was in hot water the first time?" What smells in Greece is the head of the fish, right Uncle Auggie?

I finally got caught up watching all of the news clips about today's swearing in. Is it just me or does anyone else think not much has changed? Once again, we've got the media circus with all the local politicians (from Maggie to DA Green on down the line) applauding Uncle Auggie's choice of chief. I want to believe Todd Baxter can work miracles, but it's very hard. Even harder after watching him do the whole "Supervisor Auberger, reporting for duty" spiel complete with a salute ... UGH!

I agree the new chief will be undermined from some of the ones left behind that act as they new nothing was going on. Just look who donated $250 each to the party.

I wonder how much yesterday's media party cost the taxpayers. Tell us John.
