Why is this surprising?

And 26% of the 51% lied!

Its surprising because this isn't Paris where everyone has wine with dinner.

I think just as many kids drank say 20 years ago.

It's not hard for teenagers to get alcohol.

Most important would be the amount of binge drinking or other excesses

I'm kind of pi$$ed off my friends and I used to have to go into the city and pay some undesirable $2.00 to purchase our booze. Clearly the smarter move was to just take it from home!

Agree with 2:31 but take it back even further. 30 years ago we just could get it from our parents at family parties. Sometimes even at fancy restaurants. 18 was the drinking age but as long as the parents ordered the drinks there was no problem with restaurants and bars serving. If we were on our own we needed proof of age which was a non-photo driver license. And once you get through the door you could order without showing the ID again.
So it is more difficult to get the alcohol now but they are drinking just as much. What does that mean?

To 6:24PM ~~ Only 15 yrs. ago, I remember that alcohol was "the drug of choice" by our HS students in Greece .. even while they were at school. I wonder if that has changed.

WHAT, you mean there wasn't a class or 9 in beermaking at your high school? 5# can of Maltex hops flavored malted grain, 20 gallons of water, 5# sugar. Bring Maltex almost to a boil in 4 gal water, add to fermenting tank with 16 gal water, seal and ferment.
Good Lord you youngsters didn't learn much in school did you?
Class of 1963.
