Home Invasion Story Doesn't Add Up

Yesterday, WHEC-TV and other local media outlets reported the story about the home invasion that happened on Moxon Dr. in Greece the night before. Lt. Steve Chatterton of Greece Police stated: “Two male suspects entered the home, produced handguns, accosted the homeowners. There were a total of four people inside the house at the time.” The story goes on to say that Chatterton said two adults were pistol-whipped and sent to the hospital.

Yesterday's D&C reported that a news release from acting Deputy Chief Brian Uhrmacher of the Greece Police Department stated: "Two men, both armed with handguns then forced their way into the house." It further stated that two people were treated for injuries.

OK, fine, right? Well that depends on whether or not you start to notice the discrepancies in the numbers of people inside the home, the number treated for injuries and even the number of perpetrators police are seeking.

13WHAM News reported last night that "Greece police are looking for three suspects ... "

Today's D&C says: "Greece and Rochester police are trying to unravel a Wednesday night home invasion robbery in Greece during which four people were pistol-whipped by two men."

I could give more examples, but I think I've made my point. I can understand it might take Greece police some time to investigate the crime to understand what transpired, but I can't fathom not knowing whether there were two or four people who were "pistol-whipped" or whether they are looking for two or three perpetrators.

Even more worrisome was Lt. Chatterton's statements to WHEC-TV trying to calm our nerves by saying that specific home was targeted : “It's not your everyday crime, absolutely not. But like I said there were circumstances that led to that from the victim and the suspects ending up in a location in Greece.” In other words, nothing to worry about. But wait. In the same story, the reporter has a chat with a neighbor leaving us with the impression there is a lot more to this tale:

"Carol who lives nearby, but didn't want to be identified, says she's afraid. She said, “I'd like to know what's really going on because I think there's more to it. I just think there's more to it.”

Reporter Lynette Adams asked Carol, “When you say you think there's more to it, I'm not sure if you're seeing things in the neighborhood that make you a little bit suspicious.” Carol said, “Yes, a little.” She said she is too afraid to elaborate."

This story, the numerous discrepancies and even the suggestion we shouldn't worry about the crime committed reminds me of the same Greece Police Dept. we had under a former chief ... back when lots of other things just didn't add up. I share Carol's fears.

One version is that the one man was forced into a car by 2 men in the northeast section of the city. Then he was driven by them (or was he forced to drive?) to the Moxon house where his employer lived. That report said the home invasion was not a "random" act. It also said there were 2 occupants of the house that were sent to the hospital.

Sounds like the man that was forced to his employers house might have owed money to the 2 creeps. Just a guess.. drugs, gambling or just not paying his debt to the local gangland boss.
Obviously the police do not care if we have "just the facts". The spinning has started with the new regime?

To 1:08PM ~~ I heard that version, too. Do you feel like we're being taken for suckers with all the versions that don't add up? I'm getting the SAME FEELINGS I had under Rahn's leadership and I'm not liking it one little bit!

Agreed. And as residents we should know whether this was a targeted hit or they were wandering marauders looking for opportunity?
BTW Calm Lake circle is an address that is constantly in the blotters like the one you linked to about the man with muddy footprints in his apartment on Feb 10 and 12th. It is the apartment complex near Ling and Dewey. Ling takes you to Kirkwood which within a half mile is Moxon. These are the apartments where Pignato lurked and harassed the woman in the upcoming trial.

To 1:25PM ~~ I don't know about you, but I don't feel better if it turns out to be a targeted hit! Given the situation, there was a car on the road with a kidnapped person inside. THAT alone could make things very dangerous for anyone who might get in their way!

Then there's the gun, or guns. I don't think we've been told how many and probably never will. The home on Moxon Rd. is clearly a DOUBLE HOUSE. Gunfire inside one may not stay in Vegas, if you get my drift. Then there's the get-away aspect of a vehicle on the road carrying people who are capable of kidnapping, beating, robbing ... and probably more.

Nope, saying it was targeted doesn't calm my fears at all. Staying home after dark helps though ;)

No wonder Gpd doesn't solve many crimes. They can't even count!

SCATS:

This story is troubling. I am not hearing the same good vibes about about Todd I heard a few weeks ago,Looks like clubby corrupt and closed all over again.

But why should the police count when there is no crime in greece!!

Tim Horton's anyone?

Todd is busy staying out of the spotlight at Auberger's insistence. We can't have him rubbing elbows with commoners unless it's orchestrated by John himself. Nothing has changed, unless you count the emptying of taxpayer's pockets by Lozynski.

on a related police matter, the d and c is reporting that the 2 Greece Policemen have been cleared in the shooting of Paul Miller.
I just saw it on ch 8 too.

To 5:13PM ~~ Thank you. I just saw this at 7PM on Ch 10 ;)

I think you have to give the new chief a chance, remember he inherited a lot of trash. Isn't Chatterton on the $250 list and his wife works for the town?

SCATS said...

To 8:22PM ~~ I'm really trying to do that, but when I see the same all too familiar questions surrounding another newsworthy crime in this town, it's very tough to do.

Confused to 8:22 What does Chatterton's wife have to do with any of this??? What are you trying to say here????? Do you know her????

To 7:21PM ~~ You must be new to Greece ... or playing dumb. I would bet on the latter, but on the slim possibility I'm wrong, I'll explain based on info available from a search through public records.

One of our "promises" awaiting "discovery" is the promise of nepotism (wink, wink) if you contribute $$ to the right campaigns & support the status quo. If her name is Andrea, then his wife does appear on the town's payroll, along with two other Chattertons - Gregory & Steven.

Also, 8:22PM is correct about the $250 list as well. From March of 2008 to Sept. of 2009, Steve Chatterton donated $600 to the Greece Republican Committee and Friends of John T. Auberger campaign funds.

So sad - could not agree more about nepotism - but the wife has nothing to do with this - nice girl - hard working - sad she is drawn into this mess - do not think if she was not qualified she would be in the position she is in.

To 8:40PM ~~ Spare me the crocodile tears. Her name is alongside his on a couple of those donations, so obviously, she is involved with financial support of "this mess."
