Excerpts From the Email ...

I had to laugh at CH10 coverage...."the board restored kindergarten!......that is NOT what the board did. What they voted to do was "reopen" kindergarten registration to see if more kids would apply and therefore make a case for NOT closing kindergarten. I also wonder what that new parent male TV star meant when he sniffled "every one has to give a little" or something to that effect. I ponder what "little" did he give except plead for the continuation of kindergarten at his school of choice?

The board still has $12M to cut out of the budget despite their voting to cut $8M formally last night. At least they freaking' voted and thus avoid confusion as to intent! The board voted on directing the super to provide a list of $6m in more cuts. Wonder where the other $6M will come from....I think I know...it is raise taxes by that amount.

What a fiasco the BOE meeting was. The "gang that can't shoot straight" comes to mind. Stenglein could not attend the meeting because her job kept her busy according to what I was told. Not the first time for that. I wonder how come a person runs for the board when they know they are likely to have job obligations that would cause them to miss meetings? A board member should plan on spending at least 30 hours a week on BOE business or they SHOULD NOT RUN! Of course they could always show up unprepared like some of them do. Of course that leads to the kind of oversight that Walts enjoyed, permitting him to buy pianos costing $100 large ones! Jeff, as chair of the Transportation Committee, has no clue about any of the busing related issues that come before the board.

SCATS ~~ Yes, listening to men crying into the mic at BOE meetings is a new low, but one that worked. He gave his tears for the cause! The other $6 million will likely be funded by us taxpayers, because after last night's very poor showing, I don't see that this BOE has the guts to make the necessary cuts. They will cut $6 million more before they tell us: "Sorry, we just couldn't do any better, Boo Hoo!" As for the actual conduct of the meeting itself, they were out of order and need a "do over" to make it all OK again. With Russell in the audience supposedly pondering another run for BOE (as per a BLOG comment), we're all but doomed! Didn't he help choose our current "leader?"

Yep, that be 'the' Bill. We really need to re-elect this guy. Greece deserves him.

I have to comment on the Pre-K program and the bussing. This program should only be for our neediest pre-schoolers and transportation should be provided. This Pre-K program was supposed to come under the Head Start program if I am not mistaken. It has now turned into a full time babysitting program for parents filled with children who do not qualify but whined to get the program expanded so they would not have to deal with paying daycare expenses or private Pre-school. Think I am making this up??? I went to several board meetings where parents actually came out and admitted this.

I am sick and tired of paying taxes for things that parents should be responsible for. Our schools are turingin into welfare buildings. It is rediculous.

To 9:36PM & 7:02AM ~~ Careful with the descriptors, please. I've gotten lax in the rules lately. Don't make me start deleting comments, OK? ;)

To 7:11AM ~~ That sounds like Greece to me. My understanding is that with the budget cuts, next year there will only be Pre-K funded by grants and bussing has been hatched, though they have to "do over" the BOE vote on it.

You have to admit those on the board who ran to keep schools of choice at all costs have keep their word. No doubt the same reason Russell is showing an interest.

TO the comment about pre-K being child care day care...that will no longer be an issue. With no bussing kids will not be able to go to PRE k and then be dropped off after at sitters. And it is my understanding that not all the pre k are head start and that "head start" special ed children will still get transportation as falls under the law.

If you think a DWI fixing is something, when reliving past payoffs and bribes, the most egregious has gone unnoticed! That outrage took place in the dark shadows of political intrigue six years ago on a grand scale, a scale that touched areas outside the boundaries of Greece politics and reached into a larger political arena. It was a scheme that would make Greece taxpayers pay for favors received by a former district administrator, a well-known official outside of Greece and for the personal problems of a former school board member.

11:08 - Why don't you just spit it out then. Put up, or shut up.

Because of the volatility and political implications, those directly involved and a few others, are the only ones who know the details. You, 1:52 p.m., are obviously not one of either group. Let's keep it that way.

For now, those directly involved will hopefully read this and be made aware that there are those who have knowledge of their game and at the right time, they will be exposed to the appropriate individuals. Sooner or later, all will be out in the open.

Any further discussion on this topic right now would be useless.

The Story Of Bill, fictional of course:

You mean (pre BOE) Bill who's kid sat at 37 on the waiting list to Pine Brook, or (newly elected BOE) Bill who found himself getting his kid into Pine Brook with just a simple phone call from Steve 1? You mean Bill who was the biggest (not just xxxxxxx, but that to) supporter of Meg (leading "We Want Meg!"), or Bill who has disappeared since the truth about Meg and all the money she cost us came out. Bill who pretends to be the all-american dad, or Bill who's partner in crime (and former police chief) had to call on a favor to get him out of a DWI in Irondiqouit during his tiime on the BOE? Bill (and listen closely McCabe) who never once voted different than his buddy and mentor the former Police Chief, or Bill (and listen closely Smith) who would sit at meetings oblivious 99% of the time, yet felt the need to speak on occasion, simply twisting and restating something someone had said just prior, in an attempt to look brighter than dim?

9:36PM......LMAO. You are sooooooo correct about Bill the Xxxx, Smith and McCabe. (and I should mention our ex-police chief xxxxx Phelan) BUT..........these are the types of people the Republican Party supported and helped get elected to the school board.

While some in the community were constantly going after the CARE group and CARE elected school board members, at least those folks had brains and asked tough questions, demanded answers and made difficult but good decisions like getting rid of Meg, exposing the bugging of the board room and exposing and talking about the EEOC mess.
