Another Friday Night, Another "Stand-Off"

13WHAM reports: " A police incident in Greece ended peacefully Friday night. Police say they received a call from a woman around 8:15 p.m. claiming a man inside the house had a gun. Police tried first to make contact with the man by phone, but got no answer. Eventually, they were able to make contact with him. Both he and the woman came out of the house unharmed. Police say the man did not have a gun. No one was injured.

People in the area received an automated phone call telling them to stay inside their homes until the incident was over."

The D&C reports: "A two-hour standoff on Harvest Drive ended peacefully tonight. Police responded to 475 Harvest Drive for a report of a domestic call about 8 p.m., said Deputy Chief Brian Uhrmacher, and initially, it was believed that a weapon was involved.

A woman in the house was able to leave when police arrived. When police tried to call the residence and didn’t receive a response, they used a public address system and convinced a man inside to answer the phone. Once that contact was made, the man came out of the house. After an investigation, it was determined there was no weapon involved, and nobody was injured. The man was not charged."

SCATS ~~ After hearing about this incident, a friend asked me a very good question : "Was all this stuff going on before the coverups, and we just didn't hear about it, or have things taken a dramatic turn in this town?"

that should be your new poll. and i would vote that it has always been happening. i have said on more than occasion i would rather know about all this and deal with it, as opposed to a false sense of security.

I think a little of both.
The police have been under reporting crime for years. I think there is an undercurrent of domestic violence in greece that goes unreported.

Yet the economic situation of Greece residents is becoming more tenuous. This intensifies other problems.
Our fearless leader no paragon of virtue in his personal life, prattles on about individual responsibility thinks social services are political spoils and only due republican clienteles like our seniors and thus has no solution to Greece's growing problems except lies and deception,

The police blotters are public knowledge especially to the press. Maybe there was a gentleman's agreement with the media if they didn't report the scary stuff the chamber would buy more ad space.

To 10:14AM ~~ Not long ago, the D&C's reporter explained to us that GPD lets her go through the logs to try to find whatever she wants to print. She further explained that if it doesn't get printed it's because it didn't make her cut. In other words, it must interest HER or it won't see the light of day.

Interestingly, Cynthia Benjamin from the D&C who oversees their BLOGS moved to Greece last year. I'm STILL awaiting her response to "be my friend" on Facebook. So far, she is IGNORING me :( Boo hoo ....

I give kudos to the new and now free home delivery of the Greece Post. They are printing MORE of the police and fire calls. They are even printing condensed minutes of Town & BOE meetings ... even though those Town meetings are already pretty darned short!
