To the BOE ...

As you decide what to do about the Senior Tax Exemptions & Income Levels, please keep in mind the words of Adrian Rogers:

"You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

"You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity..."

But you can certainly destroy the middle class by giving the wealthy tax break after tax break.

Calling senior citizens "the poor" is a bit of an oxymoron in these parts! I'd like to have the lifestyle many of the "snowbirds" from Greece enjoy - a home in Florida for winter, a motorhome to get them there, cruiseship vacations, paying for the grandkid's college..... We all know being a senior in the suburbs means living pretty darn good. Look at all the "apartment homes" that have been built in Greece for the 55+ crowd. Rents are around $1500/month not including utilities! And they fill up fast with wait lists for wannabe renters.

Now, now, just because I saved money for 57 years doesn't mean you have to covet my wealth!

I don't want a tax break, and I don't want you to have one either.
I want as many as possible to feel the pain of taxes and cry out in anger when it gets out of line!

To 9:50PM ~~ I think you intended that comment for a different thread ... ?

Yup. My bad. Could you move it to the thread where someone asked about the Greece teacher who was accused of sexual misconduct? Thanks!

To 9:45AM ~~ The best I could do would be to copy & paste it from here, because of the time stamp. Feel free to do so on your own, if you like.
