Don't you mean Kakistocracy?

To 2:51PM ~~ That's a good term for it.

I was at the meeting.

Perhaps a new low for closed clubby and corrupt time wasting.

The board members spent at least 20 minutes saluting Rubber stamp Jerry Helfer for his 12 years of "loyal" service.

I am in Helfer's ward. I can't figure out anything he has done for the are except for a couple of nasty park benches with no cover for bad weather. When some of my neighbors have asked for help they says the town and Helfer ignores them. He just takes up space and votes yes. But I guess for some people this is a great accomplishment.

There was no visible democratic party presence. No speakers at the forum.

To 10:45AM ~~ Thank you VERY much for the synopsis! As depressing as it is, I guess I didn't expect any real change :(

This BOE makes me sick! Is this the best this community can provide to represent its school system?

In the two plus years that I have lived here I have yet to see any indication of intelligent life on that board.

This group answers the long standing question - Are we alone in the universe?

To 11:27AM ~~ Just to clarify, this was the Greece TOWN BOARD that met, not the Board of Education.

The summary of 10:45 raises a question. I thought Dan Maloney said he would continue to be involved and attend meetings.
I guess he hasn't done that.

I don;t see how we will build any opposition to our town board if none of our politicians feel willing to show up or speak out.

School Board, Town Board, in this town they are all the same. What I said about the school board goes double for the Town Board. They are worse, if you can believe it. At least the school board discusses items on their agenda, the Town Board just votes "yea" or whatever Auberger wants.

To 1:52PM ~~ With all due respect, there have been just two meetings since election day and both meetings preceeded major holidays by only a week or so. I don't know what Maloney's intentions are, but I think a little down time following the tiresome campaigning that went on for several months is well deserved. Let's see what the New Year brings ;)

To 7:36PM ~~ I agree with you, but I've noticed that since Tydings became circus posse Prez, they're starting to resemble the Town Board more every month. I blame it on Boily's influence over the Prez.

Give Dan Maloney a break. He might not be all that interested in consistent community involvement when he's not campaigning, but I'm sure he'll show back up when/if he decides to run for something else. A smart politician like him knows you only need to show up around election time or when you have a good opportunity to attack those sitting in office now. Just be patient. He'll get there.
