"Rules of Three" Will Apply To Police Chief Search

YNN reports that top three candidates who are interested will get interviewed

Capt. Mike Cerretto tops Civil Service list with score of 91 on exam
Capt. William Sanborn, MCSD scored 88
Lt. Salvatore Simonetti of Webster scored 88
Interim Chief Brian Uhrmacher scored further down on list

SCATS ~~ We're hearing that Auberger is under more pressure from within GPD and its retirees to choose Uhrmacher. Oh what will Uncle Auggie do??

Uhrmacher could easily become reachable on the list. For instance, the town might have a residency clause which could limit the prospects. Also, they could ask for some on the list to "sign off" the canvas process for the greece job only, thereby reaching who they want.

To 11:17AM ~~ There are lots of things Auberger could do ... the question is what pressures will he bend to? Currently, residency is not a requirement, but it could become one.

So now SCATS and his supporters are urging for the process to be fixed and the rules modified to benefit one particular individual (no matter who that might be or how great a guy it is). So it's ok when it serves your purposes? You guys are amazing with your hypocrisy.

To 5:39PM ~~ Please show me where I have "urged for the process to be fixed and the rules to be modified for one particular individual." I'm "urging" for the end to playing closed, clubby & corrupt games with things like selecting a police chief, nothing more. Afterall, this is serious business!

Forging ahead with his predetermined outcome is what I expect since Auberger doesn't care that half of the populace is sick and tired of his form of government.

For the record SCAT's it less then half. If it was half, we would be having a new supervisor. But Maloney failed sooooo there ya go.

To 1:37PM ~~ For the record, Auberger's closed, clubby & corrupt form of govt was rescued from the brim of extinction by a mere 400+ votes cast by the fraction of the populace that bothered to vote. That is far from being an edict ;)

I wonder if the SCATS women are Greece residents?

To 9:02AM ~~ I don't understand who you are talking about. Are there female candidates?

This is a non-debate. Civil Service rules REQUIRE that an employer select from the top three scorers on the exam. It's important to note that scores that are the same (88, for example) hold the same "spot" on the list. SO, if Uhrmacher scored a 75, but the scores above him contained duplicates, he could still be selected.
Example:
Cerretto - 91
Sanborn, Simonetti - 88
Uhrmacher, Jones, Smith, etc - 75
Uhrmacher's "spot" is still in the top three scores.

:)

To 9:21AM ~~ How would a residency requirement change things?

SCATS - It depends on which "list" the employer requests. There are county wide lists and then "residents" lists. SO, if the Greece PD institutes a residency requirement, they would need to request that list and it would be interesting to see where the chips fall. If Uhrmacher is the only resident of the three mentioned, then he would be #1 on the list (unless others in Greece have taken that test who aren't even "in contention" at the moment). Could make for some interesting decisions.

"That is far from being an edict"

Who said it was an edict? Or are you making it up as you go along again SCATS?

To 1:42PM ~~ Reading for meaning is difficult for you? Are you a GCSD grad by chance? If not, please try to keep up. Otherwise, there will be no social promotion for you.

Brian Uhrmacher took the reins of our police Department, when confidence in our police department was at a low, when little organization and structure existed and when the few choosen officers of the Auberger - Rahn club ran the show.
In a short time Uhrmacher has brought dignity back to the department, organizd a fragmented fellow ship into a working police department and makes decisions not based on politic's but on sound fundamentals of police work.
Brian's only fault as far as Auberger is concerned is that he Brian Uhrmacher refuses to play politics. Cerreto is very well connected with the republicans and conservatives.
Doesn't anyone wonder why Cerreto has not risen through the ranks of the State Police as others before him have?
