1 precinct has reported. It is in Ward 2 and repubs took it. URGH!!!

are you saying there SHOULD be a recount or that there WILL be a recount??

SCATS said...

I'm saying Maloney should INSIST on a recount. The results are VERY close.

SCATS said...

I heard YNN News say the results are too close to call ... I know the numbers are "unofficial." Maybe there is a mandatory recount ...?

Anonymous said...

or maybe absentee ballots...

Anonymous said...

There should be a recount. Very disappointing. They are now talking about absentee ballots. It could go either way but is hardly a mandate for the incumbent.
If Auberger wins he can thank the tail of the republican elephant...the conservative party.
Can I have an "amen"? Apparently the town of Greece has no problem with Tuesday come to prayer meetin' at the town hall. Okay so I'm getting a little nasty. Recount please. The community deserves it.

The vote tallies are 10,093 for Maloney to 10,431 for Auberger. I don't know if absentee ballots have been counted yet or not but I thought they got counted early. We'll see.

BAAH

GREECE SHEEPLE HAVE SPOKEN

SCATS said...

I watched the numbers on this and it was never an entire 2% apart that I saw. VERY, VERY CLOSE!

Anonymous said...

Typically absentee ballots are not counted til after the polls close. Probably so as not to sway the voter turnout if they were counted early. There would have to be more absentee ballots to count than the difference betwen the votes for them to change the outcome...

Anonymous said...

My understanding is that ward 3 hasn't been calle dyet either. Any ideas as to why?

Anonymous said...

I think that if the absentee ballots are postmarked before the deadline...whatever that is ....they have to be counted even if they arrive after the election. Not quite as exciting as hanging chads but they should be counted if there are at least 338 of them. Wait...they should all be counted but if there are less than 338 or whatever the difference is it couldn't change the result.

Just heard that absentee ballots have NOT been counted yet.

SCATS said...

To 10:52PM ~~ Ward 3 has a third candidate BUT Conlon has 51.1%.

Anonymous said...

OK, on channel 10, Dan just said they were waiting for every vote to be counted, and when BB asked him how long it would take he said "as early as 2 days" and winked. What's up with the wink?

SCATS said...

To 11:07PM ~~ I just watched Auberger on YNN and the Republicans consider him a winner ... UGH. I don't know how long it takes to count those ballots. I suppose it depends on how many there are.

CLOSE but no cigar. I like that a message was sent to Auberger as well as the Dems.

To Aubergerger: you have to shape up or your days are numbered.

To the Dems: Almost anyone could have won except someone carrying union baggage. Independants blame unions for all the high taxes in this state. The person leading the ticket will not win even if the alternative is also carrying lots of his own bagage. I hope the Dems see the light.

Greece did/does want change but the dems did not select the right candidate.

RE; A post on an earlier thread. THE democrats appear to have been swamped throughout Monroe County. Deapite the scnadals and lousy fiscal mangment by the Maggie Brooks admnstation, they didn;t even appear competitive in the county leg. They even got killed in Gates. That's a town that was trending democratic and a pretty weak candidate almost beat Espostio the last two elections?
They lost supervisor races in Irondequoit and Mendon. Even indicted Andy Moore won.

Besides insult does anyone have any serious thoughts on this debacle.

Clearly the democrats have to send Joe Morelle packing if they want to win in the future

There will be no change here in Greece . The voters have spoken. Congratulations to the winners. It was an interesting race for the first time in Greece history.

Sorry to see you lose last night SCATS. I didn't hear your concession speech after Bilsky won.

Anonymous said...

Frankly, I'm very surprised at the results. With all that has gone on in this Town, you would think they would throw the bums out. However, I have learned that the Democrats are to blame -- less than 10% of eligible Democrat voters got off their butts and came out to vote. If they had, this would have been a very different result.

They should crawl into their holes and stop complaining, they got what they deserve!

Is there any breakdown on voter turnout?

Looks like the republicans got their voters to turn out much more than the democrats

SCATS said...

To 10:31AM ~~ The Republicans certainly can't be proud for THE WORST TURNOUT EVER."

To 8:19AM ~~ What do I have to concede ?

To 5:14AM & 6:34AM ~~ You are correct. There will be NO CHANGE. Auberger smirked his way through his NARROW WIN.

WATCH OUT GREECE! YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHIN' YET FROM UNCLE SMIRKIN' AUGGIE & HIS BAND OF CORRUPT SIDEKICKS!

SCATS said...

To 6:26AM ~~ I know there are some people who will likely disagree with me, but in MY OPINION: The Dems spend too much time and energy on internal power plays, infighting and one-upping each other INSTEAD OF ORGANIZING AROUND A SINGULAR GOAL OF WINNING THE ELECTION.

On the other hand, the turnout to the polls was PATHETIC FOR BOTH SIDES. The message in that is:

The people are sick and tired of politics, dirty tricks, dishonesty, corruption and all the rest so they stay home by the droves feeling that it doesn't matter who wins and/or that they can't make a difference anyway.

SCATS said...

To 10:31AM ~~ When I get caught up, I'll try to see if I can find anything about that.

The turnout was not too bad, 37.6% which is pretty good for a local election year, better than in 2005 (a comparable year).

SCATS you got it right, the Democrats are to blame. From day one it was every man for himself. They are not unified and the infighting is beyond belief when they are supposed to have a common cause. If they had joined together, they could have whipped a--! Their biggest mistake was listening to the Monroe County Democrats who, after last night, have lost all credibility.

In almost any other town, with the number of Democratic voters that we have, the Democrats would have won handily (less than 10% of Democrats came out to vote). Unfortunately, here the leadership of that party is practically non-existent and they have a bunch of total incompetent boobs running the show. They cannot and will not unite and their own little territorial wars keep them from accomplishing anything of substance and I think the Democrats in town know that and stay home.

To scats at 11:41

Agreed. But is it possible that in choosing their battles (where they will put money) they are just not that interested in Greece.
There will be more uncovered here with the trials of Rahn etc.
And how many other condos were wrongly assessed and when that is fixed the rest of the property owners will see their tax bill increase.
And the supervisor can't crow too much about this win since he was an incumbent and statistically he lost. Incumbents always have an edge and he cam out dead even.

In the real world, there is an axiom that goes something like "don't tell me how you spent your time or how busy you are, or how important your role is, tell me what you have actually accomplished! And in terms that have some empirical basis for evaluating success.
Now that is one of the overarching problems with the Democrats in Monroe County and particularly Greece. Busy, busy, busy. Hard working, long hours, endlessly pursuing something or other. BUT, when these people are judged by their previous career responsibilities, there is no substantive data or even anecdotal stories that confirm that they succeeded at something or had meaningful accomplishments.
With that as a background, there is no surprise that the strategy for success, the key tactical decisions, the partnering and alliance formations and the staff selection processes were all seriously flawed within the Democratic organization. They formed a circle of "soldiers" to go forth and fight the good fight but forgot to turn around 180 degrees and look outward towards the enemy before they fired their rifles. Ouch!
One pictures the German Army invasions going after the militias of the to-be-conquered country.
And of course it was made far worse by the lack of support from 80% of the eligible "militiamen" who said that it didn't matter who occupies the country so why go out and get beat up (or pull a lever).
It would be interesting to remind all those non-voters that our brave youth come back in boxes to Dover AFB so that we have the continuing opportunity and right to go pull that lever.
OK, ok, I am sorry that I interrupted your texting or twitter session. Have a nice life but don't complain about the corrupt government at Greece town hall.

To 12:58PM ~~ You must have missed Uncle Auggie's speech last night. He was gleefully declaring how he had even overcome endorsements made against him by talk show hosts ...

In his mind, how close the race was doesn't matter. Better stock up on KY ... we're all going to be needing it.

Anonymous said...

What you said is true but why can't we complain about the corruption in Greece. Why male models???

SCATS said...

To 1:18PM ~~ I just emailed someone and told them I'm halfway between being nauseous and being in mourning after the outcome in the Greece Town Board and Supervisor's races last night. You make a lot of good points, especially that last one :(

So that Thumbs Down in the D&C last weekish...seemed to be on the money no matter who ended up really writing it (I know MR got some blame on that). It seems (anecdotally) like more disgruntled registered republicans voted for Maloney than registered Dems. I'd love to see the breakdown for real though.

Getting a SCATS endorsement is a lot like getting on the cover of Sports Illustrated. It is a curse.

Scats, PLEASE endorse Supt A-chrom.

To 5:34PM ~~ Very funny ;)

Steve A has my full support as THE BEST LAME DUCK SUPT. we've had in years!

From the d+c website what maybe the best words yet.
All the republicans have to do is point their finger at democrats and say 2 words
TAX and SPEND

The worst part is the republicans are not far behind - maybe thats why their numbers are dropping.

Now someone please tell me WHAT DO DEMOCRATS BELIEVE IN ????
