Why Did Auberger "Reimburse" Time Warner Cable?

In the weeks leading up to the Town Board's controversial vote to switch from Edu-Cable to Time-Warner, three "reimbursements" were made from John Auberger to Time-Warner via the FRIENDS OF SUPERVISOR JOHN T. AUBERGER campaign fund. They appear on the NYS BOARD OF ELECTIONS FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE REPORT as follows:

7/13/09 - $53.95
8/12/09 - $53.95
9/9/09 - $83.95
Why was this $$ reimbursed? What was it for?

Maybe he thought if he paid them back their donations would be permanently deleted from the records. Guess he was wrong:)

This is very interesting coincidence given the issues with cable and time warner and our public access channel. I there something where John or the campaign wants to avoid impropriety or the opposite

What is a campaign doing paying time warner money?

What does it need TW services for?
Many politicians use their campaign war chest for personal uses.

That decision to move public access to Time-Warner was a brilliant move. The 24-hour a day slides on channels 12 and 15 are really impressive. Much more professional looking than the badly produced videos we saw when Educable was running the show!

To 9:25 - To say the Town made a brilliant move by providing the blank screen we now get is beyond anyone's comprehension. You must have a completely closed mind to not know that it was called "Public Access" for just that reason. Anyone who had a message, whether you agreed with it or not, could get it out on Educable. This is supposedly a free country and xxxxxxxxx like you and the Town Board should not decide what the "Public" can and cannot see. If you did not like it, you could always turn it off.

If you have Time Warner service in your home, you are paying fees to Time Warner for a service you are not getting. In any way of thinking this is not "smart."

I'd like to know your definition of "brilliant."

You could call time warner and turn off your service. I know people who could help you get a good deal on dish service

I can;'t tell for sure but maybe 9:25 was being facetious.

"should not decide what the public can see"

I know we can't call misinformation a lie here but the town board, county, state, federal government, etc. are not determining what the public can see.

That is a blatant "not true statement."

To 2:42PM ~~ You are 100% WRONG. In fact, the federal govt has an agency called the FCC and they DO decide what you can and can not see on TV! They decide what is too violent, lewd, yada, yada, yada to be aired and even the time of day certain things can be aired. The Greece Town Board's decision to switch to TW has generally impacted in a negative way what people will have "access" to on public access TV.

Why don't we get back to the actual topic?

WHY DID AUBERGER'S CAMPAIGN FUND REIMBURSE TW THREE TIMES (that we know about so far) JUST PRIOR TO THE TOWN BOARD'S VOTE TO SWITCH FROM EDU-CABLE TO TW?

This could be for cable service. Why is the Auberger campaign paying for cable service?
It could have been or is still a freebie gift to Auberger?

Time Warner could care less about you as long as it shines Auberger's apple. Nor could Auberger. So what is this charge?

Stop it SCATS. You know I'm talking about what airs on Public Access 12 & 15. Whatever was airing before is still allowed to air now.

It remains, a blatantly "not true statement."

Why didn't you ask Mr. Not True Statement to stay on topic.

Oh, that's right, because he/she agrees with you. Typical.

To 3:59PM ~~ No. Unlike you, I don't/can't read minds. I challenged the statement that was supposed to be refuting a lie. I think I did that very well. If you can't say what you mean, or mean what you say, then YOU'VE got problems telling the truth ;)

I guess our Monroe ranter doesn't want to talk about this Auberger item so I'm thinking there is something to it. If not let's hear why?

Just a quick note.IF the school board or the town tinkers with a tape it makes and sends it to TW No one there will ask what happened. Say for example the board or the town decides not to submit public comments in the meetings

IF the shoe fits ranters ...

Absolutely nothing that was aired before will be aired again. Town Board and School Board meetings may still be taped and maybe someone will be willing to drive into the City to Mt. Hope Avenue and deliver the tapes for airing, but there is no guarantee that they will be shown at any time when the public can watch. I am guessing they might be on at 3:00 a.m. or whenever they choose. Graduations, elementary school programs, local concerts, and other programs of local interest will not be seen. This is intentional by the Boards of Greece, Gates, etc. They dislike having the public watch them make fools of themselves at their 15 minute board meetings.

Although, technically, the programs could still be aired, in reality you and I both know, they will not. This is government controlling the airwaves, no question about it.

By the way, I suspect Auberger's campaign is probably paying for cable service (Roadrunner) for their computers in the campaign office. Those odd amounts sound like monthly service charges.

Maybe his campaign committee is using road runner internet? For years they ran everything out of town hall, but i've heard they wised up recently and cleaned out all the old computer files. No joke!

To 6:34PM ~~ I suspect his campaign may have gotten smarter since his use of town facilities has been widely reported on here during the past year or so. It's been brought up numerous times ;)

To 5:56PM ~~ The Monroe Ranting group got so quiet you could here a pin drop after Mr. Smith was indicted ;) The BLOGS and even the TV comment areas all slowed down after that announcement LOL
