There's A New Police Chief Coming Soon ...

Who wants to bet that the ink on Rahn's agreement with the Town of Greece will barely be dry before Auberger announces his police chief's replacement? Back in August, I blogged about two possible choices from the NY State Police, in addition to GPD's Uhrmacher ( I mentioned the appointment would be shortly before the Nov. election ;). One of those two names has resurfaced, Michael Cerretto. He's said to be very well connected in political circles. Nothing but the best for Greece, right Mr. Auberger?

(Cerretto is on the far left side)

Cerretto is waiting in the wings. He is a political hack with the State Troopers. His field of expertise is traffic enforcement.
Some choice to build a new department.

All it takes to get hired by Auberger is a strong Republican background, Ceretto's father worked for Al Skinner and he has moved up through the ranks by knowing the right people. They had promised him he could be Deputy Chief a couple of years ago, however, Mackin held some of the right cards at that time and John had to turn Ceretto down.

He will hire Ceretto this time, even though he carries some baggage with him, but what else is new in this Town. Auberger keeps making the same mistakes. He and he alone hired Pignato and Joseph and I can't understand why this $400,000 investigation didn't uncover that fact. Something is really rotten in the state of Denmark.    10/10/2009 11:22 AM

uberger's choice for Deputy Chief 7 years ago. However, Mackin finished first on the Town and County Civil Service List and Ceretto was fourth on the same list for deputy chief.

The cards that Mackin holds is a tape recording of his meeting with Auberger in which Mackin was ordered by Auberger to remove himself from the list so that he could reach Ceretto under the rule of the top three on the list.

Mackin told him to shove it and he would sue if he was passed over. Now you know why Mackin was on Jacko's short hit list. Too bad his hearing is not going to be public.

He is Michael Cerretto and if you google there are many stories about safety on the thruway and on the 390 and 590 etc. He seems very "nice" and probably clean because he has been so busy doing this safety routine. Do the state police with the office in Henrietta get to arrest people for anything besides traffic stops? Those are dangerous but maybe Greece needs someone with a background fighting some nasty crime. Or someone with a supervisory job over people fighting more urban crime. Maybe someone that is the deputy chief in a scary city like Detroit or Cleveland or Buffalo or Rochester could be recruited for the job. At the very least we need to advertise and do a search. We should not depend on a possibly outgoing supervisor to make a unilateral decision.

To 12:39AM ~~ Thanks for the heads up about the spelling. I Googled him and got a Facebook page showing a Michael Cerretto who is friends with Bernie & Tony Iacovangelo??? Is this the same person you are talking about? Cerretto is from Rochester? Geesh!

You just can't tell from a name on facebook if it is the same person. But there is one that has Rochester with his name. All the friends seem to be adults and older people. The USA people search puts him at age 44 but there is someone with his same name that is 90. Could be a father?
So it could be his facebook but I don't belong so I can't read the rest of his info. Here is a link to that usa people search site. You can do searches by name or address and it tells lots about people even ages and relatives and other cities and aliases like maiden names.

I would hope the new chief will be or will committ to be a resident of Greece.
Frankly I would like to see all employees of the town and school district be expected to be a part of the community.

BLOG Administration gave 9:10PM an opportunity (20+ minutes ... they did post two more times, so I know they read the warning) to tell us what he was talking about in his first comment. He failed to do so despite the warning, so the comment has been deleted.

What warning are you taking about?

Was it finally asking someone to explain some unproven accusation made here? Or do you still allow that for Maloney's people? I'd be shocked if this is true. Pleasantly shocked.
