Isn't this the group that Dave Garretson and Dick Beebe control?

SCATS said...

To 10:54PM ~~ Jeremy Carter is the President of this group.

Anonymous said...

10:54 Seriously you jest. That would require a real effort and the ability to pay your bills on time.

SCATS said...

BLOG Administration rejected a comment for name-calling.

I heard Cincie is dating Susan?

Anonymous said...

I know Jeremy Carter is the President, but Garretson, Beebe and some other associated with the Greece Democrats have leadership positions in the group.

I'm surprised Auberger and the other republicans are going. Sounds like a set up.

Dave Garretson said...

Northgate Neighbors is a neighborhood group and non-partisan. Jeremy Carter is our President. I live in the neighborhood and serve on the board. Dick Beebe is a member of the group but does not serve on our board. We welcome neighbors of all political views, and our board is a healthy mix of Democrats, Republicans and non-partisans. Please join us this evening --- it's a great opportunity to meet the candidates and ask questions.

"I heard Cincie is dating Susan?"

SCATS, can you ask for an explanation of this, unless you already know what it means and can explain what this person is talking about.

If not, I know you'll do the right thing and delete the comment.

SCATS said...

To 10:45AM ~~ I do not know what it means. Why would deleting it "be the right thing to do?"

SCATS said...

To Dave ~~ It's been MONTHS since you've commented here. Welcome back.

Having been to NN few meetings, I personally wouldn't characterize the Northgate group as pro democrat. it seems mixed

On the other hand I would certainly characterize the FBBC as rabidly pro Auberger and a few other choice words. I doubt whether the FBBC is without its prejudices. Yet many democrats came to that venue. In a campaign you are going to appear in venues where you might not get all the love and support you want.
You go there to face some questions and make your case.
I always get the impression that some people who post think any venue that is not rapidly pro Republican is a set up.
It's that republican sense of entitlement again

Who's zoomming who

"Why would deleting it "be the right thing to do?"

Because you recently deleted a comment because you didn't understand it. I just figured you'd want to look fair, that's all.

SCATS said...

To 12:07PM ~~ The comment I deleted got deleted because I requested an elaboration on the remark to clarify it and got a nasty retort that ended with the person questioning me as to what I don't understand. I'm sure you can't see the difference, but that's OK. I'm tolerant of the disadvantaged.

Dave, according to their BOE filings, you've given Dan Maloney $3200; the Greece Dem party $1619; and Shawn Lavin $200.

You serve on the NN board, Beebe's a member, and people are supposed to believe this will truly be a non-partisan event tonight? It'll be interesting to see how the questions go and who they come from. Sorry, but I'm thinking setup.

Can you let us know how many other members and board members are directly helping out Dan Maloney and other Greece Democrat candidates? Will they be allowed to ask questions? They can support whomever they want but in the interest of fairness to the neighbors, no one associated with either campaign should lead their candidates with easy questions or attack the other side.

Thanks for your response.

aSCATS, so you admit being selective on who you delete?

I see Rebecca Jaffarian is also on their board. Which way is she leaning this year?

Anonymous said...

Lonsberry just invite Maloney and Auberger to be on his radio show Friday. He was talking to Maloney and inviting him live and turned it over to his daughter the producer to firm it up. Should be interesting.

12;29's Moron's ranting worth post seems to reflect that he must not have taken his prescribed anti- psychotic. it seems to indicate a new level of paranoia on the behalf of the mornons. More reason to get rid of them. Do you want a bunch of paranoids leading you??

Is this a new paranoid rule that is being invented. I am unclear about what law or rule prohibits someone who has given money to a candidate from asking questions at an event. Activist often ask questions. They care enough to get involved and find out what going on in their communities.

You do not forfeit your rights to speak or ask questions if you give money to a candidate.

That's bizarre.

In the other hand Johnny basically coerces his employees into giving money for his campaign as we saw in a post here recently.
That's far more dubious on the ethical scale. We see again and again in the local rags how campaign donors to the republican hedge fund get rewards and jobs. Yet the poster isn't questioning this obvious graft and cronyism.

We see again and again from our local republicans a paranoia beyond rational comprehension. Anyone who dares oppose us is pure evil. Everything they do is filled with ulterior motives.

Really this is bordering on insanity. STOP THE INSANITY.

Dave Garretson said...

To 12:29 -- Fair question. Yes, I openly support the Democratic slate. There are others in Northgate Neighbors who support the incumbents. We are neighbors with a common purpose, to improve our neighborhood.

It is not appropriate for me to speak for anybody other than myself, so I will not identify or label other members. Let me repeat: Northgate Neighbors is non-partisan.

Our board is in regular contact with town hall, and representatives of the Auberger administration have appeared often at our membership meetings... Gary Tajkowski, Kathryn Firkins, John Auberger, and Jeff McCann were among the people who spoke to Northgate Neighbors in 2009. By contrast, none of this year's Democratic candidates have appeared before now -- tonight's forum will be their first time at our podium.

Anybody in the audience is free to ask a question. The moderator will accommodate as many questions as time permits.

@1:08 - your inane blathering and insults miss the mark of the comment. You have a group that Garretson purports to be non-partisan yet includes in its leadership and membership a former Democrat Party candidate and major contributor, a Democrat Party elected offical and at least one pro-Democrat candidate blogger.

You're telling me that this candidates night is going to be fair and non-partisn?

Dave's refusal to name board members of a "community neighborhood group" makes me wonder what he is hiding or at least why he thinks they don't want the public to know who they are. Sorry, but those are my opinions which I'm free to have.

Tell you what. Let's just wait and see how the event goes. I'm sure people from both sides will give their reports on how it was conducted and if there was a clear slant favoring one of the two parties.

Again, this has nothing to do with Mr. Carter. He as an individual seems to be a fair-minded person. Unfortunately, he's surrounded by partisan members.

SCATS said...

To 1:35PM ~~ I don't know if there is any difference between their board members and who their newsletter calls "patron members" but it's no secret as far as I'm aware. According to their newsletter, their "patron members" are:
Jeremy Carter
Abraham Davis
David Garretson
Gretchen Hughes
Rebecca Jaffarian
Joan Kelly
Dan Maloney

Anonymous said...

Elected officials can not hold leadership positions in Northgate Neighbors. It's a bi partisan organization. Your list of patrons is not the list of board members. Anyone in the community can be a patron if they pay the membership fee. Board membership is another issue. Dan Maloney is also not on the Board. Get your facts right SCATS. You really are slacking off these days.

SCATS said...

To 2:46PM ~~ I have my facts absolutely correct on this. You need to read more carefully. I never said Maloney was a board member. I said he is listed as a patron member.

IF the Northgate Neighbors Newsletter is correct with who they listed, then he & the others are "patron members" as I stated. If they made a mistake, your issue is with them, not me.

Desperate Republicans. 6 pm on Tuesdays Once a month

This show is plagued by low ratings and poor production. The acting is leaden. It's a good bet to be canceled in early November. Look for it in syndication after midnight in a bar near you.

I Googled Northgate Neighborhood Assn (and various terms) and found they used to have a website ( http://www.daddymojo.com/Northgateneighbors/ ) several years ago. It hasn't been updated since sometime in 2006 from what I can tell. On that site, I found this under "Meeting Notes July 26, 2006"
~~

Executive committee:
President: Tom Clayton
Vice President: Fred Amato
Secretaries: Anne O’Connor and Loc Trinh
Treasurer: Pat Quadrini

Board of Directors: Jeremy Carter, Russell Chimera, Ingrid Hoffmann, Michelle Infantino,
Carole Provost, Donn Rice

Much more recently, Dan Maloney's bio information on his website states that he is a member of the Northgate Neighborhood Assn. According to recent MPNNews articles, Rebecca Jaffarian is on their current "board."

Anonymous said...

North gate Neighbors as I recall wasn't even solidly anti-wal mart. It is hardly a bastion of liberal thinking

Anonymous said...

Maloney's a member? Same with Don Rice who appears in Maloney's campaign website? It's such a setup.

SCATS said...

To 5:40PM ~~ Poor Jack didn't complain about a "set-up" all of the other times he attended their meetings AND USED THE GROUP to promote his image!

Anonymous said...

I don't recall Auberger or any candidate calling the fact that Democrats now control this group a setup, so that's wrong and an incorrect statement.

If the event was in fact dominated by Maloney people taking over and not the average, true non-partisan residents who live there, then I'd call it a setup too.

SCATS said...

To 10:29PM ~~ I don't think many residents in Greece are "average true non-partisan residents" after all the scandals we've had! You know what they say about opinions, right? EVERYBODY'S GOT ONE ... especially now.

SCATS said...

BLOG Administration is rejecting two comments centered on a specific individual and his/her character (or lack of it as the case may be) that add nothing substantive to this discussion.

Anonymous said...

Auberger scored no points at this forum. He avoided answering most of the questions. He used the same old rhetoric he's spouted for weeks about having faith and trust in his employees. He still accepts no responsibility. He claims his agenda setting meetings are open to the community and that's where town board people "do their homework" to prepare for board meetings. SUCH HOGWASH!

Maloney did pretty well. He was animated, direct and factual. He responded to questions that sought to trip him up. Like on Walmart. The audeience seemed to respond favorably.

Shannon O'Keefe couldn't answer a question related to lake levels and said maybe next year she could. Well maybe next election she can run again.

Sheriff O'Flynn attended and spoke briefly. People seem to like him. Greene was a no show again. O'Flynn was the only incumbent who performed well. The Democrats came close to a Clean Sweep tonight.

Anonymous said...

At least O'Keefe was there. Byfield didn't even bother to show up. She had Dick Beebe's wife read a statement. You should care enough about people you want to serve to show up. Obviously she doesn't care. She just wants their votes.

SCATS said...

To 7:29AM ~~ I agree that people running for office should be available and Karen Lee-Byfield hasn't made herself accessible during the campaign. On the other hand, an incumbent running for re-election who represents our lakeshore residents should have SOME UNDERSTANDING about the particular issues relevent to living on the lakeshore! She's had MONTHS to prepare herself and get up to speed. She hasn't. Maybe she could spend some time actually talking to her constituents after the next 10 minute board meeting ends.

Anonymous said...

It was a question on erosion control, not just lake levels, and came from someone supporting the Democrat's campaigns. The person was informed what he already knew, the town doesn't set lake levels. And you're gonna have to force Canada and everyone on the shoreline in NY east of us to favor us over themselves. They haven't been receptive (Slaughter hasn't done anything to help) and it wouldn't be any local electeds fault for that, Democrat or Republican.

The majority of "non-partisan neighborhood group" comments came from people on the Maloney team, including his son. The plan worked out well for the Democrats last night.

Anonymous said...

"Karen Lee-Byfield hasn't made herself accessible"

I heard she went on a vacation. Dick Beebe's wife can confirm this. She read her statement.

SCATS said...

To 11:11AM ~~ You must be joking! I'm told this event was well-attended with many more than 100 people showing up. Based on your contention that the "majority" were on Maloney's "team" then I guess Auberger better start packing up his office now, because Maloney will win it hands down !

Remember, I used YOUR contention ;)
