Maloney & Auberger Appear/Campaign Together

For the first time, both candidates spoke at the same town hall style forum

Auberger calls Maloney "misinformed"

Maloney calls Auberger's town govt "dysfunctional" and calls the budget "smoke and mirrors"

"I pointed out the facts, that he is hoarding too much of our money and I required him to give it back ... You put the same people in office, you will get more of the same. More scandal, more corruption, and it costs us money.""  ~~ Dan Maloney

"On a number of issues, budgetary issues, he's not aware of fund balances and how fund balances work. Fund balances are similar to a savings account." ~~ Supervisor Auberger

The audience voiced concerns about the Walmart Supercenter slated for Northgate Plaza

Maloney OPPOSES the Northgate Walmart location while Auberger FAVORS it

WHEC-TV

SCATS ~~ Yes, Mr. Auberger. Reserve funds are like savings accounts, BUT they are NOT YOUR PERSONAL savings account. It's OUR money. You've "saved" too much!

Rut-roh! I know at least one person who will be heartbroken about their candidate's position on Walmart. LOL

Anonymous said...

To 12:27

I wonder who that could be?!? :D

SCATS said...

To 12:48AM ~~ For anyone who has been paying attention, one guess is all you'll need.

I thought she already knew that and still liked him.

Only one mouthpiece has spoken out in favor of Walmart. That one voice does NOT make a majority.

Who wants cheap labor, cheap merchandise and cheap promises to keep up property, parking lots, etc.

Go look at the Walmart down at Elm Ridge. It's a filth pit. Look at ANY Walmart.

Garbage strewn, parking lots with pot holes, employees lined up outside huffing smokes before they have to work another 12 hour shift to make it to 36 hours so they can't get "real" benefits.

Regardless of what ONE person wants, it is a bad decision and Maloney is right.

It will kill any chance of any future development by small business and it will kill any current small business trying to survive.

It's a cheap fix, and maybe someone can answer why the attorney's for Widewaters gave political donations to Auberger?

Just follow the money trail and you'll get all the answers you'll ever need.

Care about your community - NO Walmart.

Care about yourself - Jack Auberger. Mr. "quick fix" and "I'll do it MY way".

I saw Auberger in the news video and he looked really PO'd! Someone better tell him to calm down or he's going to stroke out. I love it that Maloney is making him work so darned hard. But it depresses me to hear that people are more upset about Walmart that the police dept and assessor's scandals. Greece residents will look like morons if they reelect Auberger.

Anonymous said...

Why wasn't this debate publicized? Did anyone know about it ahead of time except church members? I'd enjoy watching John squirm some more.

SCATS said...

To 9:18AM ~~ I first heard about it when I saw it on the 11 PM news :(

"Garbage strewn, parking lots with pot holes"

Is it ok to call this a lie since I've been to the Elmridge Walmart and don't see any of this?

I've also read (not the "well, I spoke to them" that you have to take my word for) that other businesses on Dewey are looking forward to Walmart and the customers they'll bring back to the area.

It benefits their business which means more hiring.

Anonymous said...

I also think it's funny how Maloney kept quiet on Walmart for so long but is now made to share his real position. It's pretty obvious he wasn't supporting this business - none of the unions are.

Anonymous said...

Yes..that's true..I knew about him and still think Maloney is the best chance we've got to replace Auberger.

Like someone else pointed out--I'm thinking of the bigger picture where integrity needs to be restored to the town FIRST (The Walmart issue is really a non-issue to me at this point).

And for the record, Brockport WM is very nice-I don't even bother going to the other ones...in fact, Target is my store of choice :D.

SCATS said...

To 9:38AM ~~ From my own personal experience the parking lot at Elmridge seems to fall apart as soon as the first frost hits it every fall. By Christmas, it is pot-hole heaven! The trash is not as readily apparent because the number of cars in the lot tend to provide cover for the issue. Stop by out there on say a Sunday evening after many of the other stores close. Granted, it isn't as bad as Northgate, thank God! But it's far from perfect.

Anonymous said...

The meeting was organized by a few of the neighborhood associations along Edgemere.

SCATS said...

To 10:08AM ~~ It's too bad they didn't get the word out since this is the only time both Supervisor candidates have appeared together. I'm always willing to post notices for such events ;) (hint, hint!)

I saw this forum talked about on the news last night and it really burns my buns that people seem to "be over" the scandals!!!! How the heck can we be over them when we're still paying to investigate them????? What the hell is wrong with the people in this town??? Did the Republicans put something in the water at the Water Authority????? I'm seriously looking into moving. People on the east side wouldn't tolerate this BS!!!

Anonymous said...

Does anyone believe that all these comments a few minutes apart are actually different people? This blog is what is the joke.

SCATS said...

To 10:34AM ~~ Believe it. There are several different times of the day when comments seem to come in together. I guess maybe it's coffeebreak time for some.

Anonymous said...

It's too bad our local newspaper won't get the main candidates together for a forum. The people need to hear from Auberger and Maloney side by side. Its just a month before elections. Isn't there another church that does a bigger forum each year?

The Greece Post is useless. I guess that's why its not in Greece.

SCATS said...

To 10:42AM ~~ I think you're right. Doesn't First Bible Baptist Church host a Candidates Night? Or is it a different church? Anyone know?

Anonymous said...

I want to know how I can get a Maloney sign for my yard. I made a request on the democrats web page but never got a call. Can we pick one up someplace? Does that office on Ridge Road have them to hand out?

Anonymous said...

Why isn't the media pressuring Auberger about the police department investigation? It's been weeks, maybe a month without any update. I thought Maloney was trying to find out the cost and submitted some FOILS. I think Dan's being much too quiet. Just my opinion.

Anonymous said...

I hate to break it to all you supporters but Maloney isn't going to win this election. Just look around town. There's hardly any sign that he's running (pun intended). He's not making news. He's not turning these scandals into a platform like he should be. He's coming off as disorganized. Just another slipshod campaign. Auberger's got nothing to fear.

Anonymous said...

Let's hope 11:14 isn't right about his prediction. It is true Maloney has no signs.
If Auberger wins re-election it will appear to the rest of the county that as a whole the citizens agree that it is ok for our town government to be asleep at the wheel as all the scandals of tax and police are taking place. After Watergate there was no way a republican could get elected president.....hence Carter. This is not the federal government but it just as nasty.
If Garretson is in charge of the campaign why are there no lawn signs for Maloney? Dave?
Is it possible that some people (like me) are going to vote for Maloney but fearful of putting his sign on the lawn because if he doesn't win there will be the devil to pay? Even if he does win what are the chances that your call to the town or police will be properly answered between now and swearing in of the new supervisor. 3 months is a long time. Hey these people are accused of all sorts of corruption. We have to get rid of them. They are obviously dangerous. Remember also that once a new supervisor is in, the deputy supervisor and "i am him" and the heads of departments and the planning board etc will be changed. Those are administrative appointees and the planning board is voted on by the new town board?
Can you imagine the flak if you put a Maloney sign in your yard across from "i am him"s house? These people that will be gone with Auberger are our neighbors but we have to get rid of them and send them looking for a new job.

Anonymous said...

If Auberger wins despite it all there will be hell to pay for everyone. Think of how much more arrogant he will become. Getting away with all these scandals will fuel his ego even more.

I've heard he's steamed that he has to defend himself after 12 years of free reign. Let's keep him doing that for the rest of this term. Make sure we boot this b*stard or he will turn around and bit us in the arse. You can take that to the bank.

Anonymous said...

It's true. Auberger looks very strained. He can't stand the heat.

I don't think this stuff about experience plays out. Remember experience is a two way street. It is just as often a deterrent when someone is fixed in their ways.

John has experience and its bad.
Get him out quick before he takes all of Greece with him.

Anonymous said...

If voters determine who to vote for based on who has the most signs, or who sends out the most literature, we might as well quit right now.

People should know that the Republicans with at least a $150,000 war chest can buy unlimited signs and send unlimited mailings. This has nothing to do with their qualification for office. This only proves that they have a lot of money.

People should remember the police scandal, the assessment scandal, the money pouring out of coffers for the "so-called" investigation, the money that will be spent to pay for the many lawsuits to come as a result of the police scandals (this will be in the millions and we will pay for it because the town is self-insured), the over-taxing of citizens to fill up their slush fund, and the list goes on. Auberger is responsible for all this as is every member of the Town board who voted without question for all of his mistakes. The board members are just as much at fault as Auberger because they just sit there, raise their hands and vote as they are told. No discussion! No questions!

Anonymous said...

Walmart does not own the plaza at Elmgrove and hence, they are not responsible for repairing the pot holes and garbage in the parking lot.

Anonymous said...

For the posters asking...you can get your Maloney (and other Dems) sign either by e-mailing:

jerrylong@frontiernet.net

or calling Dan Maloney and leaving a message for a return call:

865-7099

Those would be the quickest ways - and they'd LOVE to hear from you.

The only two incumbents running this year are Auberger and Bilsky. They are the only two on the board who are responsible for all the c**p.

Auberger, for hiring the bad cops, for not keeping tabs on the Assessors' Office, and Bilsky for being an obedient lackey of Auberger.

The rest of the Town Board members have begun their reigns in the same mode as Bilsky - DON'T ASK QUESTIONS AND VOTE AS YOU ARE TOLD.

This is shameful!

Anonymous said...

The war must be on...already my Maloney signs are missing from my yard :(.

On another note, I hope the new leadership replaces those in certain offices who aren't doing their jobs:

Code Compliance comes to mind.

I had to call them to report someone in the neighborhood not in compliance with something, and they at first told ME to tell the people..then suggested maybe I could find out their landlord and tell HIM...I said "sure..I can do that work for you if you want to hand me your paycheck"--he then changed his mind, said he'd investigate to "take the heat off of me". Gee, thanks for doing your job :D.

One more aspect of the do-nothing-care-about-no one-in- the-3rd-ward town govt. They need to go.

Anonymous said...

3:14 is right but the new plug-in board members that are there to serve the remainder of the resigned board seats are part of the old guard republicans no matter how young they are. They are de facto incumbents and should be regarded as such as we vote in new blood.

Anonymous said...

Who is Bilsky? I never heard of him. Where is he from and who is he running against?

Anonymous said...

John is narcissistic man. During the assessor scandal he couldn't believe anyone was accusing his government of being corrupt or closed!!

The emperor has no clothes (ow what a thought)

Anonymous said...

Hopefully, the Greece sheep will decide they are being herded in the wrong direction and choose another Shepard. I'm not counting n it, sheep aren't the most intelligent.

Anonymous said...

Why are there so many out of town residents commenting here about our community? Go worry about your own.

SCATS said...

To 5:19PM ~~ Why would you think that was the case? I don't believe it is. And even if they are, their opinion is welcome. Anyone who pays state taxes helps support Greece and all the other towns and counties in NY State.

Anonymous said...

Does the Constitution stop at the line between Greece and the city or Gates? I don't think so. I pay sales tax, property tax and income tax, so I'll say what I want on any forum I want within the 50 states, the District of Columbia and any US territories.

5:19 sounds like they're suffering a bad case of blogger envy lol

Anonymous said...

3:31- you never heard of Bilsky because he's just a silent rubber stamper under Auberger's control. He does nothing. He says nothing. He always votes the way Auberger wants him to.Thats how he represents ward #2.

Anonymous said...

I have what's going to probably sound like a stupid question. How long is the term of office for the supervisor and for town board members? Thank you for responding.

Anonymous said...

I think 5:19 was talking about the Monroe Rotting group. Who else would bother?

Anonymous said...

Who's running against him (Bilsky) because I want to be sure to vote for that person.

SCATS said...

To 7:34PM ~~ Joe Moscato is running against Bilsky for a seat in the second ward.

To Scats:

Yes First Bible is doing our annual Candidates' Night, on Sunday, October 25 at 6 PM. All the local candidates have been invited in Greece and several other towns. We put out a questionnaire on various issues, and publish their answers in a book that we give out that night. There's a reception that follows, where people can meet and talk with the candidates.

SCATS said...

To Graehaven ~~ Thanks for the heads up on the candidates night info :)

Supervisor Term: 4 Years

Ward Seats: 2 Years

In taxpayer terms:

Supervisor: $400,000.00

Ward Seats: $100,000.00

SCATS said...

To 7:04AM ~~ I think ward seats get paid a huge some on the order of $12,500 per year. I'm pretty sure the Supervisor doesn't get $100K either. I think it's $80K something ... maybe we should call John and ask him to be transparent ;)

Anonymous said...

They get expenses, and overtime.

Those ARE accurate salaries for the term.

SCATS said...

To 9:26AM How can we pay for OT & expenses BEFORE it/they happen?

Anonymous said...

You don't. But if you average the salaries out in the actuals, this is what they get paid.

Even Jeff McCann and lovely "I am him" get overtime every time they show up for a Northgate Neighbors meeting.

You didn't really think they did that for nothing, did you?

SCATS said...

To 9:48AM ~~ The word "free" in relation to Greece schools or running of the town never enters my mind!

Anonymous said...

The super makes between 100 -110k. He started off around 85k back in 1998.

SCATS, www.seethroughny.net
You can look up salary info for various public servants by name and/or agency. Including police & fire districts. VERY enlightening!

SCATS said...

To 11:01AM ~~ Ahh! That makes sense. Thank you.

To 11:31AM ~~ Excellent reference, thank you!

Anonymous said...

Auberger makes $107K without the extras thrown in. Take a look at some of these salaries!
