From what I know, this person retired and moved to California. She can't be a leader from there.

SCATS ~~ You've both raised an excellent question. I'm wondering what GCSD administrator submitted this stipend request to the BOE for approval? There should be repercussions to any administrator who makes these sorts of ridiculous requests. Not knowing isn't an acceptable excuse. These folks are paid the big $$ to know what's going on.

Who is the principal at that building that would have submitted that? And why do they have a job?

Anonymous said...

Was this woman sent a check? Did she cash it? I've got a hunch this sort of fraud happens alot more often than we would guess.

Anonymous said...

The pricipal is Dr. John Rivers. Wonder how he got his doctorate? Mail order?

I wonder what action the Supt. and BOE will take on him for submitting a phony request for payment for this woman? How can he be this incompotent and still have a job?

Anonymous said...

What if she didn't cash it? Where did the money go? To the Principal?

Anonymous said...

I bet this woman has no idea that her name was submitted for a stipend.

Ever notice the student body shrinks, staff stays the same and the budget grows? Now we know why.

SCATS said...

To 9:17AM ~~ How long has he been principal there?

SCATS said...

PS ~~ I hope Greece didn't pay for that PhD!

$350 is nothing. What about the lawsuits that were brought against the District because of administrative ineptness that ultimately cost our District millions? Why do these people still have jobs? I know of one top administrator's department that had 2 lawsuits brought against it. The District lost both and yet she got promoted!

SCATS said...

To 9:25AM ~~ When have you ever heard of anyone getting "fired" from GCSD? It seldom happens! Although I do admit HMO got rid of a few. I see one of them just sold their home. I wonder if she left the area? I wonder if some other poor unsuspecting district is hiring her ...?

tell us who 9:25.........

Dr. D. Hoeft. Huhhhhh....and yes her PHD was courtesy of GCSD.

SCATS said...

To 9:37AM ~~ Thanks, but I was asking about Dr. John Rivers ;) Did we fund his?

Anonymous said...

Yes, Dr. Rivers was funded also by GCSD.

This board will approve anything. I belive it is refered to on this site as 'rubber stamp'

Correct me if I am wrong...didn't the Superintendent get a raise after his first year? What went wrong in his second year? Why isn't the BOE renewing his contract? I believe that it is going announced early in 2010 that his contact will not be renewed. Now the taxpayers are going to have to pay yet more money canvassing for a new Superintendent.

SCATS said...

To 12:29PM ~~ You mean announced "officially?" Most everyone already knows his contract won't be renewed. He got no raise. His performance is pathetic. And he has a habit of telling tales to the BOE that don't stand up to the light of day. But Roger Boily still likes and supports him LOL

Anonymous said...

Then I guess the bigger problem is the BOE believes these tales. Most of their votes are unanimous.

Anonymous said...

I sure hope the taxpayers aren't on the hook for his lifetime medical coverage!?!

An honest admin said...

The Board of Education believes everything that is brought to them. I have sat in the audience on board nights incredulous as to how much crap they are fed. They'd both eat it and then thank administration for it.

And before Charlie or Joe chime in, I will also say that I saw them get deceived by administration, too.

It was/is a sad thing to watch happen.

SCATS said...

To 9:24PM ~~ I don't doubt you at all. In fact, I listen at home and can often sense the BS without being close enough to actually smell it.

I'm wondering though ... if you are so "honest" have you come forward and told them they were led astray?

Anonymous said...

To Honest Administrator - Have you ever come out publically and corrected the Super or the BOE? There are many instances in Greece where things are brought to the BOE as retaliation towards an employee and nothing is done about it. I for one would love to see someone stand up and say this is unfair. As an administrator, could you be the one to do it?

Anonymous said...

I know of an administrator who was forced out of the district because they knew about medicaid fraud and wanted to do something about it. Whistle blowing in Greece Schools does not work!! The administration would rather cover it up than deal with it. KAKISTOCRACY is alive and well in Greece.

SCATS said...

To 11:58PM ~~ Did that person attempt using the Whistleblower Hotline? What is Kakistocracy?

Anonymous said...

The case was before the whistle blower hotline.

KAKISTOCRACY-Government by the least qualified or most unprincipled citizens.

SCATS said...

To 12:19PM ~~ Thanks for explaining. I thought you might be referring to a person who was critical of the BOE in the past.

An honest Admin said... said...

I started to bring things to light with BoE members and was slapped or it, hard. Harder than you can imagine.

The executive administration got involved and ended up twisting the facts to make things appear as if I was at fault for them in the first place.

It was an incredibly well orchestrated effort on their part. They are pro's at it, as they successfully replicated the tactic with several people (who trusted the BoE when they said that they'd protect us if we'd only step forward).

I am not the one to attempt to bring such change again. I will keep my head low and get in line. I am one of those rare school employees who know how tough it is to find such a good job "out there".

If I am ever subpoena'd I will testify but I will not attempt to be a change agent again.

This is how things work in Greece. This will be my final comment on the topic.

SCATS said...

To Honest Admin. ~~ Thank you for enlightening us. I think I have an idea of how things work inside GCSD. They do the same moves with parents that try to make anyone accountable.

DR. John Rivers arrived at GCSD WITH his doctorate already. No, Greece did NOT pay for it.

Where is Deb Hoeft going?

Anonymous said...

To 9:17 -- Dr. Rivers did complete his PHD after he arrived at GCSD. Since you seem to have personal information and possible know him will you confirm or deny the fact that he blocked out 2 hours of most Wednesday mornings to confer with a Reverend on school time and on school grounds? Also, did he have this Reverend mediate a dispute between students on school grounds?

Anonymous said...

7:36 - seems you know Dr. Rivers better than I. But, sadly I have to inform you that he did NOT complete his PhD after arriving in Greece. You are simply wrong about that. I can't comment on how he blocked out his Wednesday morning hours, but it would appear that you can - and so, it begs the question: Just what exactly did you do about, what you apparently believe, is an inappropriate use of time? You DO know that many, many, many mediators are clergymen RIGHT? You DO know that there is no prohibition against their PRESENCE on school grounds, RIGHT? You DO know that unless they are prostelytizing on school grounds there is no violation of separation of church/state, RIGHT?

Anonymous said...

Please tell me you are not a teacher in this school. Hopefully you are his wife. Whoever it is, you have a lot to concern yourself with. Why do you think he has gone through 4 secretaries in two years?

He completed his PHD from Buffalo. He missed work work to go and defend his thesis, right? It is well known within the school commmunity because he broadcasted it throughout the school!!

So what you are telling me is that it is okay to circumvent the BOE's Code of Conduct. When students violate this code of conduct there is an established consequence. He violated the BOE's policy on this issue (students fighting).

Yes I did speak up about this and I was severely reprimanded. You obviously know about the "GCSD policy" about anyone who stands up for anything. They make up lies and PUNISH THEM!!!

Anonymous said...

Gee, I don't know. Why HAS he gone through 4 secretaries in 3 years?
And defending his thesis means that all his coursework was DONE and PAID FOR prior to his arrival in Greece.
I'm not a teacher nor am I his wife. Just someone trying to correct YOUR misinformation.
Can't wait to hear what you think you know about his secretary turn over. I'll be anxiously awaiting your reply.

SCATS said...

To 10:30AM ~~ Completion of coursework doesn't mean there is no expense associated with defending a thesis. The university may require enrollment for 1 or more credit hours (thesis work) while doing so.

Anonymous said...

Once you are at the defense stage, your coursework and "continuing enrollment" fees are done. Trust me on this one. I know it's hard.

SCATS said...

To 1:07PM ~~ College "rules" and timing can both be issues that play into the potential need to pay for continued "enrollment." I do agree that if all things go as planned and a plan has been laid out in advance to avoid this, the additional cost can often be avoided (but not always).

You'll have to trust me on this one;) My extended family is filled with graduate level degreed people.

Anonymous said...

Scats-I wasn't implying that you and/or your family didn't have advanced degrees. In fact, I would have expected it because, for the most part, I think that you offer well reasoned logic on a variety of issues. That doesn't happen in a vacuum of intelligence. What I meant was that, sometimes, others are attacked on here (not necessarily by you) for offering an opinion on something that doesn't "ring true" with everyone. And then the insults and barbs begin.
Thank you for providing an example for others that, yes, there are multiple sides to issues and perhaps all are valid depending on what side of the fence you happen to be sitting on.

SCATS said...

To 3:18PM ~~ I didn't take it that way at all. I appreciate the compliment and the feedback, especially without the barbs :)

PS ~~ I try to stay off the fence. I found it has LOTS of splinters!

I said that he went throught 4 secretaries in two years, not three. You must know this man well. So tell me is it two years or three that he has gone through 4 secretaries? You obviously don't work in the school, maybe you are one of the administrators trying to cover up his ineffectiveness as a leader. There is no doubt about this. He did sign a JUUL agreement didn't he? I am thinking that you might work in the Human Resources department. As to my educated guess, no pun intended, I will leave your initials out.
