Calm traffic?? It's deader than a doornail now.

What's the big worry? - used to be 60,000 Kodak employees that traveled that route everyday (even with NorthGate plaza in its heyday). So now it's a problem?

This is a big ado about nothing so Auberger's office can make it look they're "concerned" about the residents and the upcoming plans for the renovation. Traffic study was already done.

Maybe we could start by limiting the number of gas tankers that need to fill the pumps at the 7/8 gas stations in that 2 mile stretch..;D.

Maybe the attempt is to "calm" us as we drive by the gang activity at dewey and stone and notice the dollar store that has been robbed at gunpoint twice in the last year.

Evidently they haven't been on Dewey Avenue much. I am amazed that there is next to no traffic there at any time of the day or evening. What are they talking about? What does "calm" traffic mean?

It used to be very heavy and was always hard to make a left turn onto Dewey, but now I look both ways and there is not a car in sight.

I think this is a big political move by Auberger to make people think he's doing something. I wonder when he was on Dewey Avenue the last time. What a joke! Just as he has no clue what is going on in the 3rd Ward, nor does he care, it's the same for Dewey Avenue.

This is the 2009 version of the 2007 version of the Dewey Corridor study.

That was an amazing piece of...

LIES!

So now we have a traffic study. How quaint. Somebody at the old Northgate Jeremy Group complain about the traffic to Johnboy?

Word to Auberger - Give it up. Resign now.

No, I take that back. I want you right where you are for the Big Merritt Rahn Show!

Absolutely, positively, cannot wait for the biggest show on earth to begin!

I wonder if Auberger sweats when he's nervous? Anybody know? Any other peculiar traits other than the ones he exhibits at the town hallowed halls meeting? The little twitch, the non-stare stare, the Patty the Clerk did you write that down look?

I heard Merritts been working out!

What is the "old northgate jeremy group"? inside joke? Does anyone else get it?

SCATS said...

To 1:53AM ~~ I assume they meant the Northgate Neighbors Group. I think their President is Jeremy Carter.

I see the GreecePost has posted an article that gives more detail about this study than anything I've read elsewhere. I suggest checking it out, if you're interested.

Thank you scats with the info about the northgate group. Writers should not post here with secret insider codes. Glad you are on top of this.
Is that northgate group still active... does anyone know??
Is that the group that is against Walmart?

SCATS said...

To 9:28AM ~~ I believe the group that is fighting Walmart is called "Residents Against Walmart" ... AKA ~~ "RAW"

As far as I am aware, the Northgate Neighborhood Group is active. I believe they've had at least 2-3 meetings this year.

Oh..that RAW group is active alright..Jeremy Carter appeared on YNN news last month and I didn't find him articulate at all. He inflated the number of members (probably took in Charlotte's count) to make it look good.

The fact that Dewey was repaved (except for the area right in front of the plaza) is telling that things are about to get underway.

SCATS said...

To 10:43AM ~~ If I'm not mistaken, folks from Charlotte are also active in the Northgate Neighbors Group. Why don't you tell us what figure he gave and then tell us what the accurate figure is?

On googling those names it appears there are 50 members of the northgate group and they boast that they represent 40 to 50,000 people. (whether those people want them to represent them or not)
They have a board and officers. They had minutes online from a meeting in 2006 where the town was trying to tell them that they didn't know about the plans for northgate.
Then the RAW group is just around to keep Walmart out of northgate. Someone named Dann is their chair and they are obviously still successful in stopping the walmart. The last articles said RAW lost in court July 2009 and the building could start this summer and nothing has happened. Summer is over and no change at northgate. They could appeal to the Supreme court. BTW does everyone realize their main complaint is that the environmental impact study was not done by widewaters and the Greece planning board said they were ok with that since there was one done in 1950 before the original plaza was built. They (RAW)may have a case as it goes further up. What a LAZY planning board we have. They should have done a new study since the environment has changed in the last 55 years and we are now more concerned about light and sound environmental impacts.
I thought is was funny that the town told those people in 2006 that they could not oversee the "shabbiness" of any peoperty. That was why widewaters was allowed to keep northgate looking so bad. They apparently were trying to keep them up to code with building type concerns but nothing more. they said they do no have the manpower to inspect the town properties and only can look if there are complaints. maybe we should all start complaining.

I remember the group started out as "a few hundred" when the Walmart issue was debated - and if you go to YNN news and type in Jeremy Carter and see what film clips it pulls up, the one from last month had him saying "thousands". (I haven't pulled the film clips I'm just going from memory). Now if indeed it was "thousands" all along, they would've easily voted out Helfer 2 yrs ago and voted Maureen Dauphinee in instead as she had opposed the project and was a member of that group. As it was, she lost by a landslide (like her Mayoral run in East Rochester before that).

Interesting article in the Greece Post. Maybe we should have toll booths to recoup some of the money it cost us for all the lawsuits ;).

Will the street be lined with decorative Welcome to Historic Greece Corridor flags?

SCATS said...

To 11:02AM ~~ I'm not sure that you have your facts in order. Starting with the person you named ... I think it is Donn, not Dann.

Another story about this study has been posted on YNN. They state the primary purpose of the study is to create a more bicycle & pedestrian friendly environment, to enhance character of the community and to provide safer travel.

Here is a link to an MPN article that has found its way onto an anti walmart site. Found it by putting "jeremy carter" northgate into google.

http://wakeupwalmart.com/news/article.html?article=2252

It quotes a planning board member as saying the 1950 survey still looked good.

SCATS said...

To 1:56PM ~~ My guess was that it was Bill Selke who said that ... I looked and I was correct!

"Planning Board member Bill Selke said a review was conducted when the plaza opened in the 1950s. In 2007, the board reviewed the report and believed it complied with standards today.
“We felt comfortable with that and so did the courts,” Selke said."

Only in Greece!

Why do some believe that a single person can turn around the vitality of the Northgate, and Dewey ave areas? The population and traffic flow is not like what it was when Kodak was the major employer. I would bet no matter who wins the election the area will be as it is now. And really are the benches on Dewey the key to improving foot traffic, if you need to rest you feet every 2 blocks you probably are not walking any way.

Anonymous said...

They are going to have to do a lot more with the police presence in that area before people will start doing recreational walking.
What happened at the meeting? There was an article in the paper that said they were planning on making it more walker and biker friendly. They better start to have something like the Guardian Angels to make it safer.

Anonymous said...

The benches are for the spectators to watch the race since Dewey's been coined "the new Indy 500" ..;).

Was Jo Meleca Voight at the meeting? Why is she being so silent about her campaign when she is running against the deputy supervisor of Greece for a seat next to "do nothing" Dick Beebe. What a joke. Just what we need. 2 people who will do nothing except cash the check and tell themselves how great they are.

SCATS said...

To 9:47PM ~~ I have no idea if she stopped in or not. It wasn't a "meeting" per se since it occured over a 3 hr timeframe. You're right though. It seems like she's been flying under the radar in this election.
