I hope he's not going to read another of those long drawn out, hard to understand, 10-page rants about..., about..., about...?

I do like that he has a vintage sports car, truck, fishing boat and a jet ski.

Joe's doing pretty good for a retired guy. Better than most people I know and we're still working.

He may not be a great public speaker but I do think his heart is in the right place. I am not sure how effective he will be as a leader but he is a good option.

auberger is not exactly a stirring speaker. he can;t write a sentence of his own

If you say nothing else about Joe, one thing is very certain - he cares. The way I understand the notice is that he wants to hear the concerns of 2nd Warders so that when he is elected he can do something about them. Not like Bilsky, whoever heard of him except now when he is running with absolutely no record except that he always votes with John Auberger and that alone gives him bad marks in my book.

It boils down to the best choice for the 2nd ward residents...Reelect a do-nothing rubber-stamping yes-man for the Auberger political machine (Bilsky) or elect Joe Moscato, an honest, proven public servant (school board, police officer among other credentials) who will work diligently to straighten out the stinkin' mess that Auberger and Town Board members like Bilsky have created. The Republican stranglehold on our town and the outrageous performances and behaviors of the Auberger gang must be brought to an end with the November elections.

I have to admit that first I don't really know which ward I am in. Second I have no idea who the ward councilman is. Third I suspect that the councilman took another post at the county level and a fill in is now running as the "incumbent". Fourth I am voting as usual....and will look up who is running against all the incumbents. I am not displeased with my phantom ward leaders since their votes usually don't have an effect on my neighborhood. But they are part of a group that has done nothing for the town of Greece but bring shame to us. They just send us newsletters with smiling faces at ground breaking or community events.
When you think about it they take no blame for the police problems. They voted to approve the personnel at police dept following the recommendation of the supervisor. The supervisor is blaming the problems all on the police chief since he says in his letter that he depends on the chief solely to make approvals of new hires. So all we seem to need is the chief of police to run everything. Just kidding of course.

To 10:03PM ~~ Regarding: "I am not displeased with my phantom ward leaders since their votes usually don't have an effect on my neighborhood."

Maybe THAT is reason enough to be displeased! If you live in the 2nd or 3rd ward, you'll know exactly what I mean.

The Greece Democrats including Joe Moscato have a Ward Map up for you to find your Ward:

Thanks for the link.
So is Northgate in the 1st ward?
Dewey stone area is the 3rd ward?
There sure are squiggly boundaries in some places. And latta rd seems to be a dividing line. Are people on either side of that road in different wards?
So if northgate is in the 1st ward that should be a troubled spot. So i don't understand scats at 10:47. Or is northgate in the 3rd ward.

To 11:47PM ~~ I wish I could answer your question. The print on that map is awfully tiny and in some areas of town, the lines of division make NO SENSE at all. I live in one of those areas where the people behind me and those across the road are in a different ward than my next door neighbors and I live in. I'd suggest calling Town Hall, give them your address and ask them to tell you who your council person is and how to contact them. If you are feeling particularly adventurous, ask them to see a full size map of the wards ;)

You have to look at the streets and numbers to see where you "land" on the map.

Joe Moscato is in the 2nd - that's why he referred to the 2nd, and the 3rd and 2nd share similar problems. More or less the forgotten wards of Greece.

Income rates what you get in this town in improvements. 2nd and 3rd are pauper wards to Jackie boy and his band of budget thieves.

You can also look up your ward at the board of elections website. Just enter in your data, and it will show you your ward and your elected missing person.

Joe has one of those generous public employee pensions. Good luck trying to get him to understand the concerns of Unshackle Upstate (and the rest of us taxpayers)

The 2nd ward race is between Moscato and Bob Bilsky. I've seen Bilsky walking in my neighborhood 3 times talking to residents but haven't seen Moscato once. I asked my friend who lives near Northgate and its the same thing. Is Moscato not going door to door?

SCATS said...

To 7:37AM ~~ I'm in the 3rd ward and I can tell you no one for either side has campaigned door-to-door on my street since Auberger's first run for office. Maybe you weren't home when he stopped by.

Is that how peopele determine who to vote for? All that means is that once every two years, Bilsky gets out and walks around certain neighborhoods. The rest of the time, he goes to the ten minute meetings once a month, raises his right hand and votes on town issues as directed by Auberger.

The 2nd ward, as I understand it, covers a huge area and has at least 20,000 homes, there is no one on earth who could cover that area and personally speak to each and every voter. Usually they just ring your doorbell and hand you a piece of political bull.

I think that is probably why Moscato is holding a town hall type meeting so that he can meet and talk to a lot of people in one shot, listen to their problems and, hopefully, be able to answer their concerns or have a plan to rectify a lot of ills in this town and all those who truly care about this town will make it a point to attend.

Joe can't walk door to door because of physical considerations and that should not be held against him. I think anyone should try to attend his meeting since Greece is hardly just wards. For example even if you live in the 1st ward you have to shop and drive through the other wards. Surely what happens in other wards impacts all of Greece and your quality of life and house value. It's great he is having the drop in meeting. He has always been very available.
And please help me... the latest mailing from Auberger makes me feel sorry for him. How many other sentimental ladies will also feel sorry for this hang-dog puppy expression on this new glossy. Please help us.
Watch out Maloney. We don't even know what you look like. Get thee to a photographer and bring a teddy bear.

I know Joe Moscato very well. He freely admits to being 75 years of age. He has a sports car that I believe he said he bought brand new in 1968 for the huge sum of $3,000 a lot of money at that time. He worked many years for the Greece Police Department, at a time when the salary was way below what most Kodak workers made. He retired many years ago and I know his pension, allowing for inflation is again, not as much as most Kodak workers received on retirement.

The fact of the matter is that because of his age, he has some problems walking any great distance. This is no way detracts from his abilities to fight for what is right. The very fact that he cares enough about this town to keep on working for it, either as a volunteer school board member or a town board members for the exhorbitant salary of $12,500,all of which he intends to donate to the Jake Memorial K9 Foundation, shows me that he is someone I want to represent me on the Town Board.

Sorry to rain on the Joe Moscato lovefest but I've seen his rants on ch. 12. He's unecessarily verbally aggressive and threatening. His personal attacks are offensive and not at all on point. He spends more time being verbally abusive than focusing on making his point or providing factual information. Not someone I'd like to see in any level of government. The praise for someone whom I've heard no so good things about is suspicious to me. Just my two cents.

To 5:19PM ~~ I think you might want to increase the volume either on your hearing aid, or your TV so you can get the message more clearly. I've heard several of these shows. I've seen nothing that I would characterize as either aggressive or abusive. I suspect you haven't either OR you would have given us a couple of examples ;)

BLOG Administration is rejecting a Comment that claims to know the identity on other BLOGS of another person who posted anonymously on this thread. Who cares? Why does it matter?

Anonymous said...

god some of the comments here on Joe are ignorant. If you disagree with him make or point, Everyone that opposes the republicans is not strange simply by virtue of opposing that party

If you want to engage in abuse you have a future as a republican party leaflet writer.

(Remember that racist campaign against Bill Johnson)

SCATS, are you sure you're watching the GREECE town board meeting on Cable 12 and not some other town? Joe Moscato is as about as nasty as Brain Caterino. I don't know if they have a competition on who can be meaner or something, but wow. If you're a regular viewer, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

SCATS said...

To 10:50AM ~~ I'm as sure as I can be :D I watched him again last night. There was NO AGGRESSION. There were NO ATTACKS on anyone!

scats re 10:50
Maybe this person sees anyone that disagrees with her as "mean".
Maybe her parent was very mean when s/he would correct her so she sees all disagreements as mean and cruel.
Joe is not cruel or mean but since he disagrees with her then she sees him as threatening. Joe has become in her mind her parent.

BLOG Administration is rejecting one comment for swiping at the previous comment but without any substance.

hmmm, same could be said for 4:31, but I know that's different. i'm just gonna come out and say it, why would anyone deny the fact that some of moscato's comments at board meetings aren't nasty? just because you say something enough times doesn't make it true.

SCATS said...

To 1:40PM ~~ Can you can say he has been TREATED WITH RESPECT (often not) and RECEIVED RESPONSES TO HIS CONCERNS (ha!)? I'd say he's been very controlled for what they make people put up with. And to think all of us actually pay these clowns to "govern" us!

Anonymous said...

Are people here allowed to make a comment without SCATS jumping down their throats? Have the nice SCATS moderate comments for a while. Geez.

SCATS said...

To 2:41PM ~~ I am the "nice SCATS." I'm tired of people making the same repeated claims without giving examples. I've watched quite a few Town Board meetings. I've even attended a few. I've watched all sides of the podium. I gave some examples earlier (a different thread) when someone said people were imaging the reality that occurs at Town Board meetings. If you want a nice SCATS, then attack the ideas, the campaign speech, the platform ... leave the person's personal appearance, personality and other extraneous details out of the discussion.

Anonymous said...

SCATS, maybe if you applied that suggestion equally to both sides it would take root and hold. People would stay on topic and discuss the issues instead of just taking pot shots.

I don't care who people choose to support this year but Maloney definitely benefits here from the lack of enforced rules.

Just a suggestion. ;)

To 9:39AM ~~ I think I'm pretty consistent. I think I'm also one of the very, very few who pays as close attention to the different meetings, issues, candidates, etc. You need to realize that someone like Auberger has a TWELVE YEAR TRACK RECORD to go on. In 12 yrs. people tend to form some bad habits that people can see very quickly. Candidates who haven't been in office before, or who come from other govt venues, may not have an equivalent track record to use to compare.

As far as appearances go, Auberger's latest mailer is over-the-top! Obviously, he is role playing in that photo. If only he was wearing a Stetson, chewing on a stogey and caressing a 6-shooter LOL If you are going to campaign trying come off with the "big, bad" look, then you've got to take your lumps for doing it ;)
