In Broad Daylight Behind Town Hall ...

A single mother posts to Craig's List that her purse was stolen from her vehicle while she played with her son on the playground. (Posts contains expletives)

AND in Henpeck Park

SCATS ~~ Sounds very bold on the part of these thieves.

So the "Safest Little Town" goes right out the window now that the lies and liars, cheats and manipulators in the PD and in Town Government know they are being watched.

What a low-life, false sense of security you have provided to this community Mr. Auberger.

How much you want to bet those incidents never see the light of day in the paper?

I'm a firm believer in car alarms - they have fended off a would-be robber or two for me.

Obviously, someone is watching to see where she hid her purse (or why would they think to look in the trunk?).

It always comes down to money for drugs. Lowlifes.

To 12:19PM ~~ I read the Police Reports every week that Greece is written up in the newspaper. I've seen an apparent trend where people break into cars for next to nothing for their efforts ... a half pack of cigarettes, or a handful of change, or a single CD even. I don't know whether it's to support a drug habit or just thrill seeking by teens ... maybe both? I'd like to hear our PD tell us about this, but I don't see that happening with Auberger in charge.

We have both registered republican and democrats in our house and all ages. Many candidates have stopped by for county and town. Mailings galore from Auberger. But not one call or visit or brochure from Maloney specifically. Is he running without backing or unorganized or depending on the "clean sweep" to get him in. That is how we are voting but worried that he might not get in.
Has anyone else seen the Maloney brochures?

To 2:34PM ~~ I've heard that the Republicans are campaigning with a huge war chest. Maloney doesn't have a similar financial backing to draw from. That is the reason the brochure war is so lopsided, IMHO.

auberger has big bucks. Maloney does not. Give blood

This is also going on at Marella Park as football games are going on. Most likely the thieves walk home to the lovely apartment complex across the street when they are done. Thieves have it made considering they are all wise that there are no police officers left to stop any crimes in Greece.

Maybe someone from the games should volunteer to walk around the parking lot to deter the crime. Or maybe there should be professional security. And maybe the moms on their own should not be alone at these places. If people are that hard up for drug money to break into a car in the daylight they might also hurt a person. This goes for the suburbs as well as the city. What's the solution.

To 6:16PM ~~ I think the scary part is that the library was open at the time the woman whose car was entered behind town hall was victimized. What's next? The WEgmans lot at Latta/Long Pond? Speaking of which, it's been a very long time since I saw a police cruise through a Wegmans lot in Greece! It used to be a routine thing. Not any more.

"it's been a very long time since I saw a police cruise through a Wegmans lot in Greece!"

It must be nice to have all that free time on your hands to sit in every single Wegmans parking lot all day, every single day, to log how many times a police cruiser rides through.

To 6:53PM ~~ It is nice! AND I have an awareness of the habits of those in and around my neighborhood.

Police stopped cruising neighborhood streets several years ago. Just like they stopped cruising Wegmans lots. And after the scandals broke earlier this year, they've also stopped congregating at certain restaurants or sitting in out-of-the-way parking lots with 3-4 cruisers together, hanging out the windows to shoot the breeze. What goes on in YOUR neighborhood?

Let's hope there is security at those Wegman's and they are patrolling their parking lots themselves. The helping hands people will escort you to your car but they don't look very scary to crooks. Does anyone know? The malls have security cameras although that doesn't seem to help our cars being broken into or being approached by panhandlers and muggers.

My teenage daughter used to ride around with a plastic blow-up figure that was dressed to make it look like someone was sitting in the back seat - yup, that got a lot of laughs. But at least it didn't look like she was alone or the car unattended at quick glance.

To 12:36PM ~~ I like that idea! Maybe we could dress them up to look like some of the cops we need to hire ;)

And like one of Napoleon's famous sayings, the "dummy" could be holding up a sign that says:
