The Army Was Here ~ The Damage Proves It !

STATEMENT FROM DAN MALONEY
CANDIDATE FOR SUPERVISOR - TOWN OF GREECE, NY

Date: September 12, 2009
From: Dan Maloney, Democratic Candidate for Greece Town Supervisor
Contact: (585) 944-7949

At approximately 10:00 AM, I received a call from a town employee notifying me that the Army drill that took place at the town hall campus in Greece this morning had caused damage to multiple town vehicles that were parked in the vicinity of the demonstration. The wind draw from the Chinook was so strong that it picked up loose stone and crusher run stone from the ground and pelted multiple town vehicles, and in some cases, broke the glass. As reported on the news coverage, trees were also damaged at the town hall.

He tried to go down with a video camera to film the damage, but the cars had been immediately removed from the area.

Although I did not witness the damage first hand, my question is this: Who authorized these maneuvers and why, and who is responsible to pay for the damages caused to town property as a result?

Dan Maloney
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Drills were conducted at Greece Athena High School, The Greece Police Department, Kodak Park & Unity Hospital. The event was co-sponsored* by the Town of Greece.
* WATCH the YNN video & see the soldiers dragging the trees that the choppers downed !! (at the end of the film)
SCATS ~~ Auberger was there to welcome them ... it was in the video shown on Ch 10. at 6PM.
*Co-sponsoring means the taxpayers get to repair the damages no one reported ;)
While I agree that it is unfortunate that the trees and cars were damaged, but a few branches and dins in the cars is not a huge crisis in our town. It is no secret that Auberger has problem in this election, buut for Maloney to use this as a jab is silly and insignificant. I hope he has REAL issues on his RADAR and is capable of really changing the state of our town government. ( And I would guess that if Mr Maloney was in office he would have not denied the military this training op.
It's time to check the telephone logs to see who placed calls to the Maloney campaign shortly after the event. That is, unless the records have been shredded already.
I think it's telling that YNN got footage (from a distance) of broken trees being dragged away, but couldn't get photos of the damaged vehicles. Pretty typical ;)
To 9:02AM ~~ Why would you assume the person called from a phone inside Town Hall? Ever hear of a cell?
A little mole told me that if you were to look at some past agendas of town boring meetings, an item about this event was passed while board members slept through another meeting.
I am him hooked up all the board members to an electrical stimulus device which raised ther hands at the appropriate time.
Wow, thanks goodness we have a political candidate who wants to lead this community spending his time issuing press releases about a tree branch and some stones.
This is almost as silly as standing in a line with Dan ordering his candidates to "commence operation clean sweep" which they did as ordered.
And almost as silly as Dan pretending to hold an economic development summit that the public couldn't locate in order to attend.
Say what you want about Auberger, but Dan's entire campaign has been about silly political stunts. If that's all he's got I don't expect much success for him and his crew of followers.
Actually I think Dan is doing pretty good given the circumstances.
We can tell he is effective because every time he hits a nerve some people come on to try to undermine it.
To 11:11AM ~~ On the other hand, his opponent, John Auberger, tells his 5 yr. old grandson to plan to come see the helicopters BEFORE HIS CONSTITUENTS GET THE NEWS ON TV! Of course, it's only been planned for 3 MONTHS!!
John Auberger used this event to grandstand, pump some flesh and smile pretty for the camera ... nothing political about it at all! ;)
Yes - so silly you're still talking about it - sounds pretty effective if you ask me.
And that order goes into full effect on November 3rd.
Too bad the rest of Greece wasn't filled in with the details, like were spectators allowed? Roads cordoned off? Maybe our kids would've liked to be able to see it too and get some pics. I think Maloney would've done a better job of making this a highlight for Greece.
To 12:13: good point! Effective campaign message if people remember it and talk about it. Can't wait for town hall to clean house.
BLOG Administration is rejecting one comment for resorting to use of the "S" word.
Anonymous said...
was it really because of the "s" word of because it was directed at Dan Maloney, the candidate your are supporting? be honest! ;)
To 10:20PM ~~ Anyone who tunes in here knows that certain words don't fly with me. That's one of them.
SCATS, why didn't you omit the word and put the comment up without it like you have for anti-Auberger and pro-Maloney comments? That would have been fair.
To 8:21AM ~~ Editor's choice ... I've given plenty of warnings about what isn't acceptable.
