"The Army Is Coming ! The Army Is Coming !! "

Berkely Brean reports that the 401st civil affairs battalion of the Army Reserves unit from Webster will be holding military training exercises near & around Greece Town Hall beginning Saturday morning at 7AM. Residents are urged to not panic as Chinook & Blackhawk helicopters land at Town Hall and humvees traverse between GPD headquarters, the fire department and the Town Hall complex as they interview various town employees and others in this training operation.

SCATS ~~ Mr. Auberger, what were you thinking when you failed to tell us, the residents of Greece, that this training was planned? Geesh!

scats...it was a surprise.

To 6:15PM ~~ Berkeley Brean reported that the few residents who live in the immediate area received letters from the town, so it certainly wasn't any "surprise."

The rest of us don't count. Especially the morning after 9/11 - how brilliant Auberger is.

I am officially going on notice that I am moving out of this rat trap of a town.

Does typing that mean I am going to be tased and beaten by Lozynski?

I live less than half mile from town hall and I didn't know.

We all should have gotten notice. People were scared. Most of us spend a lot of time at Wegmans and this was going on during the ride home "pick up a few groceries" time. Very thoughtless.

To 7:04PM ~~ It isn't over yet! Tomorrow is "THE" big day.

Oh snap maybe Glen Beck will be there and this is the real 9-12 project.

...and here we thought news10 was pulling our leg earlier. Had it not been for someone inquiring about all the commotion in that area (which was due to something else I guess), I wouldn't have known anything either.

It would've been nice to be informed ahead of time.

I wonder why they picked Greece?

Diane said...

Is the public invited to watch or will cars be prohibited in the area?

Will Auberger be the next General Patton? ;)

Anonymous said...

Will the library be open tomorrow?

Who the hell allows such a thing in his community without informing ALL of the residents?

After all the crap in this community for the past year, he doesn't think the sight of soldiers in the street won't send some type of message to the residents here?

He really does just think this is his own personal playground, and we're just the ones who get to pay the bill for his stupidness.

I hope he is defeated so badly in November that he has to seek professional medical attention to deal with the mental anguish he will suffer from.

Leave John Auberger. Leave. Now.

To 11:11PM ~~ Maybe he's like Rahn ... didn't know anything ... ;)

Just curious: does the Army pay the town for the use of its property? I'm thinking they had to be "invited" here (WHY Greece and WHY there at town hall?)...this whole thing seems absurd.

I noticed how in the article it said that the 401st reserve from Webster helps out with "war torn communities, building them back up"...

ironic

Someone mentioned the 9-12 project going on today in Washington D.C.

Was there anything in the d+c about that?
Possibly 100s of thousands of people going there (my understanding is 4or5 buses from Rochester alone) and THIS is not news for our local paper?

As far as the army coming to Greece - your problem is? You would prefer they go where? If Mr. Auberger gave them the go-ahead good for him.
I guess the only problem with some of the posters on this blog is 'you didn't get MY permission' 'why didn't you ask ME'.

Again if you are responsible Mr. Auberger - THANK YOU

Diane said...

No Charlie...the problem is..NO ONE KNEW about it...we didn't say our permission was needed..stop going off on your own tangents. Knowing when roads are closed off isn't important?

It's always nice to be informed, y'know?

Even the Army admitted they didn't want to "scare people".

Auberger is still inept. As it is..people still don't know if "observers" are allowed near there.

Diane said...

If you're going to be a town supervisor..you have to communicate with the residents. PERIOD.

Charlie Hubbard said...

My point was you are ASSUMING the press was not notified and THAT is not fair. The press has got a credibility problem or perhaps you haven't heard (unfortunatly).
Perhaps for security reasons that was purposely not done.
God help you if you need to take a detour once every 10 years.

So I guess my 'tangent' Diane is that some of the problems described are pretty shallow.

Anonymous said...

Diane I guess Charlie is now a stalker since he points out that again you fail to have any substance to your argument. I love it!

Anonymous said...

do you people hear yourselves? people in the immediate area were notified, it was announced on the news and every person commenting here heard about it in some way.

Let me let you in on a little secret... YOU KNOW ABOUT IT BEFORE IT HAPPENED!!!

If the town sent out 50,000 letters to people you'd all be whining at the cost of that.

Diane, saying NO ONE knew about it is a complete and total lie.

As Rep. Wilson would say, "You Lie!" ;)

SCATS said...

To 2:03PM ~~ Did YOU hear Berkeley Brean's original report on this at about 5:30PM on Friday? He gave the definite impression that next to no one knew about this "planned" training UNTIL he received some calls about humvees and some sort of hoopla seen in Greece during rush hour near Latta/Long Pond. He said: "We're not sure there's a lot of people that know about this, but soldiers have landed in the town today.

The military person in charge, Major Eric Lampher, was also quite concerned that word had not gotten out and that people would be "scared" by the activities on Saturday morning.

If Mr. Auberger had a track record for communicating with the public, this wouldn't be an issue. Sadly, he doesn't, so it's become an issue.

By the way, I don't think anyone has a problem with the Army training in Greece. They are welcome as far as I'm concerned.

Diane said...

Wasn't there someone on here who was asking "Will the library be open?"

Something as simple as that should've been addressed to the public.

And I didn't say anything about the press...my point was that Auberger could've notified the residents....or why else at the last minute ditch attempt would he do robo calls to a select few???

How many other people living nearby even didn't know? It's not about taking a detour...it's about being in the know about what's going on in the town you live in...ESPECIALLY when this is a GOOD thing!! What? Are all we entitled to hear about is the BAD NEWS?

And to Anonymous (Love your name! ;)...it was me that posted the news about this training session in the FIRST place...not Scats, not you..not anyone else. I was the one who called news10...remember?? So don't give me that "no substance" business.

And besides...as ANONYMOUS...who's to say exactly what YOU contribute?? If you weren't so afraid of hiding in a shadow, you'd use a name like I do to differentiate yourself from the others.

Diane said...

...and here is my post to prove it:

I just called Channel 10 news: they said it probably has something to do with the Army will be training tomorrow in the area of the Greece Town Hall..said there'd be helicopters, Humvee's, and all that.

Wow.

9/11/2009 4:38 PM

So no doubt News10 checked into it because of the calls they were receiving like they said.

Diane said...

In fact..the story didn't come on in their 5 pm time slot..it came on at the 5:30pm time slot because they had to put the story together.

Anonymous said...

Yes, Diane, we all know your stance on anonymous posters who push buttons.

The value of logging in to leave a comment is that you can substantiate what you have previously posted and no one else can lay claim to your comments. But it doesn't validate what those comments consist of just because I can click a link to a profile of a person. I don't know anything about you other than what you post, if I met you at a party tonight I would have no clue you were the you from here. You may not be anonymous, but to the reader you are, as a person, unknown. And that's OK.

Graehaven said...

I have a problem with them training here. The Army has NO BUSINESS training in our neighborhoods! What was the training for? This should not only give everyone pause, but should also scare the livin' bat crap out of you. The military has NO BUSINESS whatsoever in a civilian neighborhood.

They are getting ready to use deadly physical force on the civilian population, under the auspices of some future "crisis" no doubt which will originate from the government.

Don't say you weren't warned.

Anonymous said...

Yeah except that this battalion wasn't doing military drills of a weapons nature but a simulation of being transported and acting as civilian liaisons. Now, if they were marching rank and file wih weapons drawn as "practice" I wouldn't shrug it off.

Diane said...

Anonymous (again)...it's not about "who" I am on a personal basis..it's the fact that as "Diane" my comments will always stand out as only mine...

those who post as "Anonymous"..you can't tell one from the other and the comments could all be from the same person or whatever. (Capeesh? :D) Keep pickin on me and I'll come on like all of you...lol.

And I did substantiate the fact that it was ME, MYSELF, AND I that first brought this to the attention of all you "Anonymous-es"..;).

Anonymous said...

Right Diane, as if you couldn't or don't blog ananymously LOL!!!!

Anonymous said...

I live near the town hall and I received a letter in the mail over a week ago informing me of the training including estimated times of when the helicopters would be landing on the town hall campus.

Anonymous said...

10:14- you are in the lucky few category!

Diane said...

8:05..I DON'T blog "ANANYMOUSLY"..

nor do I blog anonymously.

I purposely don't want to be confused with "others" just for that reason :).

SCATS said...

Diane ~~ 11 out of 33 postings here are yours. PLEASE try to restrain yourself, unless there's a discussion. And consolidate into ONE posting. Thank you!

Diane said...

Scatsmeister..and how do you differentiate from all the other Anonymous-es who are posting multiple comments? Just because a person uses their own name and stands out from the "crowd" of one name they should be singled out for "multiple" comments? By that theory: you are encouraging everyone to use the identity of "Anonymous" so you wouldn't know one way or the other...

except for the one who continually misspells ;).

SCATS said...

Diane ~~ Please don't try to elevate your standing with your arguments against anonymous bloggers. This is and has always been an "anonymous BLOG."

You are not the only person who identifies themself here. Charlie Hubbard, Doug Skeet, Joe Moscato and others identify themselves or sign their postings.

Diane said...

Exactly! And because they use their own names, they stand out (whether we agree with them or not) and makes their comments easier to remember by putting the comment to the "identity".

Maybe you just want you own name to stand out? Hey..ok by me.

SCATS said...

Diane ~~ I find it really interesting that you are so defensive about the number of comments you leave on this BLOG, especially when you aren't a "Follower" of it!

You are the only person with the habit of leaving a comment and then coming back to put another one on the same thread 2 minutes later. Once in awhile an addendum is understandable. Habitually, it's not.

Anonymous said...

SCATS, it is a validation effort and you must know that. Pretty soon we will hear about how much she contributed and how she is single-handedly keeping your blog afloat. It's a standard MO, and it is getting tiring.

SCATS said...

To 1:26PM ~~ What I know is that this is the first time I've ever had several people complaining to me about another blogger. I'm even getting emails about it.

Diane said...

Well how could anyone complain about the other anonymouses?? There's so MANY of them...

do you really hear yourself? You make no sense at all.

Should I use anonymous like everyone else, they couldn't "complain" about me specifically, could they?

And again..who's to say who comes back on when? Maybe if the rest of us had your "email" we could write to you, too!

You make absolutely no sense at all.

SCATS said...

FYI ~~ My email address is right on the front of this BLOG just as it has been for a very long time.

Diane said...

Thanks...I want to put in a complaint about Anonymous...:).
